[edit] Biography

Asuka always was the top student in the classes she was in and was immediately called "Queen of Obelisk Blue" when she arrived at Duel Academy. Everyone in the school always view her as a superior student and she always had good grades. However, she does not regard herself as better than others. Asuka has quite an intimate past with her brother, Fubuki, and his disappearance had profound effects on her.

[edit] Relationship to other characters

Judai Yuki

Judai becomes her friend quite early in the series and they're often seen together. She cares for Judai and the people who Judai are with and she often travels to the Slifer Red dormitory to see them.

Fubuki Tenjouin

Being her brother, Fubuki is naturally an important character in Asuka's life. Asuka doesn't really accept everything that Fubuki does, but both of them maintain a close relationship.

Jun Manjoume

Since Manjoume was in Obelisk Blue, the same rank as Asuka, she often would view Manjoume as one of her own and comment on the mistakes that he had done. At the end of season one, Manjoume asks Asuka to be his girlfriend, but she tells him that she would rather be just his friend.

Ryo Marufuji

Asuka often spends time with Ryo at the lighthouse during the first season, usually talking about her brother. Since Fubuki was Ryo's best friend at the academy, Ryo naturally knew much about what happened to Fubuki and could give Asuka more support when times went rough. When Ryo was still at the academy, Ryo usually appeared with Asuka.

[edit] Seven Stars

Spoiler warning: Plot details and/or ending follow.

During the first episode, Asuka is astonished at Judai's ability to duel and is immediately interested in knowing more about Judai. In the second episode, she meets Judai face to face after Judai and Sho Marufuji unintentionally step into the Obelisk Blue dueling stage. She defends for them and they exchange their names. Later in the episode, she reappears to watch Judai and Manjoume duel, however, since the duel had a prizes, it was restricted by the school rules and thus when the guards' footsteps were heard, Asuka immediately reacted. Unlike Manjoume who left without paying attention to Judai, she leads Sho and Judai to safety and is immediately amazed at Judai's duel ability when he reveals the card he just drew, Monster Reborn. During the next episode, Shou appears on the Obelisk Blue Girls Dorm and to make the best out of the situation, Asuka uses Shou as bait to lure Judai out for a duel. In the duel, she fuses Etoile Cyber and Blade Skater to form her signature card, Cyber Blader to drive Judai into a corner. However, Judai's Thunder Giant finishes Cyber Blader with its special ability and Asuka loses the duel. Throughout the season, she supports Judai and Shou while often reacting negatively to many of Manjoume's actions.

[edit] Light of Destruction

At first Asuka was strongly against the Society of Light and dueled Jun Manjoume so that they would leave. However, due to a loss to Manjoume, she herself turns into a Society of Light member and plays a key role in many of their operations. She rarely duels, however, when she does, Takuma Saiou intends for her to be strong enough to beat Judai. Throughout the season, Asuka mostly is seen to tell Judai where to duel next and helps the Society on many of their missions by gathering the duelists to beat Judai. She is often seen beside Manjoume during her time at the Society. Before her duel with Judai, Saiou gives her new cards, which prove to be strong. They represent the cold and icy side of the "white" Asuka.

[edit] Cards of the week

After every week's episode, there is a card of the week shown. These are the cards of Asuka's that were featured on the show:

60: Cyber Angel Benten

90: Cyber Angel Dakini

93: White Night's Queen

94: Blue-Ice White Night Dragon

162: Cyber Prima

[edit] Manga

In the manga, Asuka has a stronger personality and doesn't want to be viewed solely as a girl. She doesn't like beauty contests, and loves dueling in all of her might. She runs a deck a bit similar to the one she uses as a White Society member, however, she uses all Water attribute monsters this time around. She proves to be a hard opponent for Judai during her first duel in the manga and when she loses to Misawa during the tournament, she grows quite upset, while if she were to lose in the anime, she wouldn't act as upset.
