Battle City is an elite tournament hosted by the Kaiba Corporation shortly after Duelist Kingdom. In many ways, Battle City is the centerpiece of the original manga, being both the longest arc, and the one where the mysteries of Dark Yugi’s past finally start to clear up. It also marks the debut of Marik Ishtar, the mysterious wielder of the Millennium Rod
and leader of the elite group of rare card hunters called Ghouls. Amid
Marik’s desire for revenge, Yugi’s struggle to retrieve his lost memory,
and Kaiba’s attempts to bury his past, the tournament becomes a dangerous game for all participants. The prized Egyptian God Cards await the winner, and with them the key to unlocking the Pharaoh’s lost memory.
