Carly Nagisa (カーリー渚 Kārī Nagisa ) is a news reporter who is generally thought as being unsuccessful and clumsy, causing her to pushed around and looked down upon by others. Nevertheless, she is determined (and occasionally stubborn) to do the best she can whenever she has her sight on a good story.
[edit] Biography
Taking account of Carly's own thoughts, she apparently grew up on the streets or had a poor background of the sorts, and is determined to prove herself as a good reporter and not go back to her former lifestyle. She's knows the reporter Angela and considers her a rival, but Angela doesn't think likewise, and more or less, sees Carly as a poor excuse for a reporter.
[edit] Dark Signers
After the conclusion of the Fortune Cup, Carly was determined to interview the new King, Yusei Fudo or either Jack Atlas. However, she fails to do so. She later tries to interview Rex Godwin about Yusei's duel, and why his right arm was glowing during it, but Rex reported to not have noticed it and and left, refusing to answer anymore questions.
Eventually, Carly was able to locate Yusei dueling through a Duel Disk radar attached to her car. She manages to capture half of his duel against Dick Pitt (a duelist who became a temporary Dark Signer) on her camera. Once she sees their glowing arms, she is sure that Rex Godwin is hiding something from the public. After the duel, she attempts to interview Yusei about what she just witnessed, but is stopped when Security arrives, causing Yusei to run off. Noticing the damage around the area, the Security officials took Carly in for a brief questioning. Afterwards, she goes to retrieve her belongings from them, she noticed that her camera was missing. She questioned the officials about it, but they claim that they had no record of it, and was thrown out of the building.
During the King of the Road premiere, she encounters a woman named Misty, who is a famous fashion model. It is during this event, that Carly hears from Angela that Jack was originally from Satellite. In order to question what she heard, she later sneaks into the hospital in which Jack was staying by dressing up as a nurse. Carly eventually does find Jack as he was sneaking out of his room, only to be challenged by Ushio, who shortly before became a Dark Signer as Dick Pitt was. Jack, who still had injuries on his right arm, forces Carly to help him duel by helping him place the cards on his Duel Disk.
Together, they eventually defeat Ushio, but Jack collapses from exhaustion shortly after. He then asks Carly for help in leaving the hospital unnoticed from the crowds outside.
