[edit] Biography
[edit] Seven Stars
At the beginning of the series Misawa entered the school as #1 in the entry examinations. It was there he met Judai Yuki. As he watched the duel between Judai and Cronos de Medici, Misawa soon released that he may not be number one.
Later on, he gets challenged by Jun Manjoume because he thought that somebody like him shouldn't be treated with more praise he did. In the end, Misawa won the duel and was offered to be promoted into Obelisk Blue. He decided to decline the promotion as he wanted to duel Judai first to prove to himself that he belongs in that dorm.
He was given that chance later on as he would duel Judai in order to see who would duel the representative from the Duel Academy at North School. He then stays up all night making a new deck with cards from several of his decks while making sure Judai doesn't get the chance to Fusion Summon. During the duel, Misawa played Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell to get rid of Judai's Fusions. He was in the lead for most of the duel, but in the end, Judai ended up winning the duel.
When the Seven Stars appeared, Misawa was given one of the Seven Keys as he has proven to be a great duelist worthy of protecting it. He gets challenged by one of the Seven Stars, Taniya. In this duel, he used Earth Deck that contained Plus and Minus Magnet Monsters. With this deck, he was able to use it to stop Taniya's attacks and fuse some of them to make Super Conductive Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus. In the end, he was infatuated with Taniya and ended up losing the duel. After Judai had defeated her in a duel, the spell was broken and he returned to normal.
[edit] Light of Destruction
When Takuma Saiou came into Duel Academy and had students brainwashed to do his biding and have them join the Society of Light. Misawa then starts to wonder why he wasn't allowed acceptance into the Society of Light. He then challenges Saiou to a duel in order to prove his strength and to disband the Society of Light. Saiou then made Manjoume take his place in the duel. Misawa then dueled Manjoume with him almost winning, but Saiou decided to take advantage of his self-doubt and forces him to lose the duel and become a member of the Society of Light. In the Society of Light, while everybody was given chances to duel Judai or other members converting him them to the Society of Light, he was sidelined and did nothing. Later on while Judai was facing, Dr. Zweinstein, he becomes "enlightened" about what he can really do and his full potential and leaves the Society of Light and ends up with Dr. Zweinstein.[edit] Yubel
While he was helping Dr. Zweinstein, an accident happened causing him to be sent to the same world that the Duel Academy was sent to as a result of Judai & Professor Cobra's duel. While he was there, he helps them find a way back to the real world. He also helps out Rei with her wound with supplies that they found. He gets word that if Johan was able to use Rainbow Dragon's attack, they can get back to the real world, and they do.
When Johan wasn't returned with everybody, Misawa helped Judai and others rescue him from Dark World. It was there he met former Seven Star, Taniya. When the grouped learned of Yubel's plan to fuse the 12 Dimensions, he tells Judai that he needs to accept himself as the Supreme King to defeat Yubel. Misawa ends up staying with Taniya in order to help the inhabitants there.
[edit] Manga
In the manga, Misawa is much different than his anime counterpart. His main difference is that he now only uses one deck and that is his Yokai deck.
In the manga, Misawa is infatuated with Asuka Tenjouin. Later on, he finds out that Judai has Asuka's cell phone number and overhears both of them talking about the Judai borrowing Asuka's Battle City DVD. While Misawa was talking to Judai, Judai gets an e-mail from Asuka and then Misawa starts to get angry. He then challenges Judai to a duel, if Judai won, he got to borrow Misawa's Pegasus Island DVD, but if Misawa won, Judai would give Misawa Asuka's number. Misawa had Judai cornered for most of the duel until Judai played Earth Gravity which gave him the victory.
Later on, a tournament was being held to see who would face Ryo Marufuji. Misawa dueled Manjoume in order to score some points to enter the tournament. During this duel, he used some of his Yokai monsters against Manjoume and brought out his strongest monster, Nine-Tailed Fox. Manjoume countered it later on by bringing out Light and Darkness Dragon and thus winning the duel. Despite this loss, he still was entered into the tournament. In his first round match, he fought Reggie MacKenzie. He would have lost this duel, but Reggie threw the duel to let Misawa win. Misawa then faces Judai in the semifinals of the tournament.
