[edit] Personality
Once a noble king of a prosperous empire, the influence of the Orichalcos stones has molded Dartz into a Machiavellian figure. He is not above underhandedly manipulating adversaries and allies alike, and has even admitted to personally orchestrating wide-scale tragedies in order to gain followers. He is utterly disappointed in the human race to the point where he believes his soul purpose in life is to resurrect the Orichalcos God and "reset" humanity through mass extinction.
The Orichalcos appears to have imbued Dartz with supernatural powers. Aside from being nearly immortal, he is shown to be capable of clairvoyance, shapeshifting, telekinesis, weather manipulation and even blocking the magical properties of the Tablet of Memories.

[edit] History
Dartz inherited the throne of Atlantis at the peak of its power. He would later describe his kingdom as an idyllic land where people lived in peace and splendor, until a shower of mystical Orichalcos stones emerged from a volcanic eruption. The stones were initially praised for facilitating amazing technological advances. However, they also corrupted the Atlantians by amplifying their inner darkness and causing it to manifest physically, thus turning many of them into hideous beasts. One such victim was Dartz's own wife, Iyore, whom he was forced to slay in self-defense. Distressed and confused, he entered a fountain where several shards of the Orichalcos stones had landed. There, he was granted a vision which led to enlightenment: Orichalcos was not sent to advance his civilization, but to test it. By cultivating the darkness in people's hearts, Orichalcos exposed the true nature of humanity.
Dartz's father and daughter urged him to cast Orichalcos away and lead Atlantis back to a life of harmony with the spirits. He refused, saying that even if the kingdom rid itself of the stones, those who were infected would not return to normal. Asserting that humanity failed the test the Earth had put it to, he announced his plans to usher in the descent of the Orichalcos God and create a new world free of evil. Dartz assembled an army of Orichalcos soldiers and gained control of the Evil God Ge in order to fight the Legendary Dragons that Ironheart and Kris invoked, along with numerous other spirits. The battle resulted in the destruction of Atlantis, and Dartz fled the island before it sank to the bottom of the ocean.
After seven millennia, he found himself in Egypt. Upon witnessing Pharaoh Atem's command of the Ka spirits, Dartz hoped that he had finally found a soul strong enough to awaken the Orichalcos God. But before he could reach him, the Pharaoh's soul ended up sealed in the shattered Millennium Puzzle and Dartz's plans were once again foiled.
For the following 3000 years, Dartz continued collecting souls and weaving a powerful web of influence over the economic and political world. He recruited minions to aid him with the former and founded a multinational conglomerate called Paradius to achieve the latter. At some point, Dartz settled in America where his influence apparently extended all the way to the IRS, as well as the Army and the Police, making Doma virtually untouchable by the United States government.
Several years before Dark Yugi's re-awakening, Dartz hand-picked three servants that would eventually confront the Chosen Duelists, and, unbeknownst to them, personally tailored their tragic destinies. He caused a storm that sank the cruiser young Rafael and his family were sailing on, killing all the other passengers in the process. In Amelda's war torn homeland, he posed as Gozaburo Kaiba and sold weapons to both sides in order to prolong the conflict. The church fire which killed Valon's caretaker and prompted him to severely beat, and possibly kill several street thugs was also Dartz's doing. Dartz approached each of the boys in the aftermath and exploited their misery in order to win them over.
