Yusuke Fujiwara (藤原優介 Fujiwara Yūsuke) is a former Obelisk Blue student who was once a classmate of Ryo Marufuji, and the best friend of Fubuki Tenjouin. The three were known as the top duelists of Duel Academia until Fujiwara became attracted to the powers of Darkness, vanishing mysteriously one day along with Fubuki at a point before the start of the series.

[edit] History
He would have been a third year (or would have already graduated) if he had not opted to enter the World of Darkness close to the same time Fubuki Tenjouin disappeared. Fujiwara is described by Fubuki as a genius along with himself and Ryo, having even surpassed the latter in dueling prowess. However, although he loved dueling, he eventually began to perform abnormal experiments, searching for the true and absolute power that would transcend the very limits of space and time. He ultimately came across this power in the form of Darkness. Using his own blood, he opened a gateway in the abandoned dormitory arena, and - as he entered it - unintentionally dragged Fubuki along with him as Fubuki tried to stop him.
As they floated in the limbo between Earth and the world of darkness, Fubuki begged Fujiwara not to enter the world of darkness- however, Fujiwara only apologized for bringing Fubuki this far, and gave him a mask containing powers of Darkness, on the basis that he no longer needed it.
[edit] Darkness
Disguised as Fujiwara, the Duel Spirit Honest attempts to assimilate with Judai Yuki and his group of friends during their final year at the Academia using hypnotic powers. However, this deceit does not work on a Judai, who had fused his soul with Yubel. The truth behind Honest is revealed after Fubuki, using the power of Darkness, is defeated by Judai and his memory is retrieved.
After this, Fubuki assumes Fujiwara to be dead. This is due to the fact he had needed the mask to survive when Daitokuji had dragged all of the abandoned dormitory students into another dimension for his own experiments, and as such he concludes that Fujiwara cannot have survived.
