Mai Kujaku (孔雀 舞 Kujaku Mai) is a duelist and a former croupier who competes with Yugi Mutou and Katsuya Jonouchi in Duelist Kingdom and Battle City. Her family name, Kujaku, fittingly translates to peacock, reflecting both her beauty and her pride.

Mai is alluring, resourceful and daring, both in life and in games. Initially a self-absorbed loner and the epitome of the independent woman, the friendships she makes in Duelist Kingdom, and Jonouchi in particular, seem to heal the scars of her lonesome childhood and change her into a caring person willing to accept and offer help, when in need.
As a duelist, Mai will indiscriminately crush whoever stands in her way, but as friend, she will stand behind those she holds dear with the same determination

[edit] Duelist Kingdom
In the Duelist Kingdom arc Mai starts off as a self absorbed person who is only after the prize money and other wealth. She is first introduced when Yugi and Jounouchi are on the cruise to Duelist Kingdom. While on the cruise she encounters Dinosaur Ryuzaki and challenges to a duel for his luxury suite. She uses her "Psychic Powers" to defeat him but in reality she sprayed her cards with different perfumes so she could tell them apart without looking. She witness Yugi's duel with Insector Haga and comments on Yugi's duel with him. She fears Yugi will lose but his friends believe otherwise.
