Marik Ishtar (マリク・イシュタール, Mariku Ishutāru) is the only son of the Ishtar family of Tomb Guardians. His duty is to protect the secrets of the Pharaoh's memories and lives a simple life in the catacombs below the Egyptian desert, away from civilization. His lonely and often cruel life causes him to hate the Pharaoh, and these feelings bring about a sadistic alter-ego who controls his body. This second personality is known as Dark Marik. Marik leads the illegal counterfeiting organization known as the Ghouls. In the bunkoban releases, his name is spelled simply as Maric.
