Professor Fudo (不動博士 Fudō Hakase) was a developer on the Momentum research team. He was also the leading man in quantum physics, being the one who discovered the Planetary (Yusei) Particle. He named his son after it because he wanted Yusei to grow up to to be a person that could be able to bond people to others.

Despite his son being known for his stoic behavior, Professor Fudo is actually quite carefree and is a lot more open about his feelings, especially when discussing his research. He lacks his son's signature stone face, and in fact smiles and laughs quite often.

Professor Fudo was the lead developer in the Momentum research. Upon discovering the Planetary Particle, he developed his own theory and launched development on the non-polluting energy mechanism, Momentum. Rex and Rudger, who were impressed by Professor Fudo's research, worked as assistants to him at the time. Rudger described Fudo to talk about the many possibilities of his research with the energy of a bright-eyed little boy.

Research on the project went well until it was discovered that Momentum brought abnormal weather to the city. Professor Fudo then thought it would be wise to cancel the project. His assistants objected, however, while Fudo understood their feelings on the subject, he felt had to stop the experiments anyway, as they were not guaranteed safety, and did not what to endanger the lives people of the city.

It is during this time, that Rudger invested many pieces of data involved with the project and traveled to the Nazca Plains. After getting various information and meeting a mysterious man, Rudger manages to get Professor Fudo's request for the project cancellation to get declined. He is then made the new developer to the project, with Professor Fudo ousted from the M.I.D.S and made powerless to do anything.

Professor Fudo then reveals that he build controllers for the Momentum, and that were sealed. However Rudger already had the the keys to them, those being the 4 dragon cards of the Signers (Ancient Fairy, Black Rose, Stardust, Red Daemon's) and held them before him. Outraged, Fudo snatched the cards from Rudger's hand and fled, but was then assaulted by city officials, causing him to drop Ancient Fairy in the process.

Injured, Fudo encounters Rex, and tells him he must stop Momentum while entrusting him the the 3 remaining cards. Before falling victim to the Zero Reverse, Fudo places his son in a emergency escape capsule, allowing Yusei to escape.
