Ruka (龍可 Ruka) is a talented young girl and the twin sister of Rua. She has the power to communicate and understand Duel Spirits, and is also a very powerful duelist, having known how to duel from a young age. However, dueling is a tiring ordeal for her, and leaves her worn out afterwards. Ruka is also a Signer: a person blessed with a Dragon Birthmark. In the anime, her name is also spelled as Luca.

Ruka has a calm and collective personality, unlike her energized twin brother, Rua. She seems to be very sensitive to others emotions. She sensed the pain of Aki Izayoi and her deck during the Fortune Cup, also when Aki attacked Yusei Fudo violently in their duel, she held her hands together tightly in hopes that Yusei would be okay.

Ruka started dueling at the young age of 3, and was considered to be a child prodigy in the aspect of dueling. However, she feels strangely lethargic after every duel, and once fell into a coma after a duel for months. When she woke up, she claimed that she went to the Duel Monsters Spirit World, where she met her partner dragon (Ancient Fairy Dragon, one of the Five Dragons)and the other spirit monsters, such as Kuribon, who is also part of her Deck.

In the Fortune Cup, Ruka battled Professor Frank in a duel. In this duel she went back to the Duel Monsters Spirit World and was reminded of her duty as being the guardian of the spirits, given to her by Ancient Fairy Dragon. Ruka managed to bring the duel to a tie, but the true intention of the duel was for Rex Godwin and Jeager to confirm her as a Signer.

Ruka uses a spirit themed deck that rejects attacking and increases her life point status. It uses fairy-tale monsters like Sunny Pixie and Sunlight Unicorn, with a focus on her Field Magic Card, Ancient Forest. Once she obtains it, Ruka is able to use the powerful Ancient Fairy Dragon in her deck as well.
