Satellite

Satellite is the name of a city in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Yusei Fudo and his friends reside here. It is located on an island not far from Neo Domino City. The city suffers from extensive urban decay, and is is mostly used as a plant to recycle the rubbish from Neo Domino City. Residents of Satellite are made to work in the plant, and are often looked down upon by many residents of Neo Domino City. One can infer the residents of Satellite do not have significant purchasing power. For example, Tetsu Ushio infers that Yusei stole the second D-Wheel he built and he thinks Yusei simply picked up the cards he uses to duel him. Presumably, Satellite residents do not have the purchasing power to acquire goods required for dueling on the market (or whatever economy is used in Satellite.) However, two years before Jack left Satellite, Jack Atlas and Yusei have duel disks and a deck and in the first episode Yusei and his friends have access to personal computer. Jack Atlas refers to the poverty he experienced in the Satellite ghetto as "humiliation" when he was living in Rex Godwin's compound. There is no class mobility in Satellite with the notable exception of Jack Atlas.

The cities are connected by a single pipeline used for transfering rubbish from Neo Domino to Satellite. There are very few ways of of leaving Satellite, with a specialist branch of the Securites prevent the residents of Satellite escaping to Neo Domino City. Satellite also happens to be the old Domino City.
