Takuma Saiou (斎王琢磨 Saiō Takuma) is the leader of the Society of Light and the vessel for the Light of Destruction. Possessed by the evil light, he plans to cleanse the world and start anew. Saiou also has a talent for predicting the future using a deck of Tarot cards.

• It was revealed in the Bunkoban extras, that Saiou was originally intended to be the antagonist of an unreleased Yu-Gi-Oh!/Yu-Gi-Oh! GX crossover movie, entitled 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Vs. GX'. Failing this, his designs were used for the main antagonist in Season 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX.
