Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2008
From Janime
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2008 is the latest installment in the DS line of Yu-Gi-Oh! video games. It was released in November 2007 in Japan and December 2007 in the US, and has a scheduled release of March 2007 for the UK.
The game is similar in presentation to its predecessor, Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2007. There are 2028 cards in total, which include cards up to the Gladiator's Assault set, as well as some cards (such as Axe Dragonute) that are only available in OCG at this time. The game features two different modes of gameplay.

[edit] World Championship
This mode is very similar to the gameplay of Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007, with some additional extras. The Free Duel section allows players to compete against a variety of opponents (as you progress through the Duel World mode and meet certain requirements, more duelists will be unlocked) including characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, as well as Ghosts of players that have been downloaded from the Nintendo WFC. There is also a Tournament Mode, which allows the player to compete against CPU duelists in tournament fashion. Once you have visited the World of Darkness in Duel World, there is also a Tag Duel option, which allows players to compete against duelists with a CPU partner. The player shares life points with their partner, and can use any cards they place on the field.
[edit] Duel World
[edit] Overview
The other mode in the game, this sees you moving from world to world, defeating duelists and undertaking the occasional sidequest to advance. The layout of the worlds is very similar to the overworld map of Nightmare Troubadour, only the duelists in each world also appear on the map.
After defeating each duelist on the map in the area five times, a sealstone will appear on the map. This stone has a picture of a card on it, and if you successfully summon that card in a duel against the sealstone opponent and win, you will unlock a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime to duel against in World Championship Mode.
There are a total of six different world in this mode:
[edit] World 1: Grace
This world is available from the start of the game. A rather simple wildness landscape consisting of forest and grasslands, it still has a lot of places to visit and things to do:
Crystal Seer's tent
If you pay Crystal Seer 50DP, she will tell your fortune, providing helpful hints on where to go next to advance in the game.
Structure Coliseum
Here you can have structure duels with Amazoness Paladin, with any of the following structure decks: Dragon's Roar, Zombie Madness, Blaze of Destruction, Fury from the Deep, Warrior's Triumph, Spellcaster's Judgment, Invincible Fortress, Lord of the Storm, Dinosaur's Rage, Machine Re-Volt, Surge of Radiance, Curse of Darkness and Rise of the Dragon Lords.
Spring
Occasionally, you will be given the choice of throwing DP into the spring. This will either give you nothing, or a random card. At other times, you will be ambushed by Kairyu-Shin and be forced to duel him.
White Magician Pikeru
After a few duels, White Magician Pikeru will appear on the map, and will ask for a cute monster if you speak to her. If you give her one, Ebon Magician Curran should appear on the map shortly afterwards for a duel.
Curse of Vampire + Gigobyte
After your first few duels in this world, Gigobyte will appear, being bullied by Curse of Vampire. If you choose to talk to Gigobyte, then choose to help by duelling Curse of Vampire and winning, then you will unlock the gateway to the next world.
Guardian- Embust
Guarding the gateway to the next world is Guardian- Embust. By defeating three of its five decks, you will be allowed through the gate and into the next world, Sunlight. The five decks are as follows: Open and Close, Wiggling Beings, Calm Spirits, Silent Memory and Silent Victory (full decklists to come soon)
Grace Duelists
Elemental Hero Knospe, Storm Shooter, Skull Servant, Kairyu-Shin, Nightmare Penguin, Ebon Magician Curran (full decklists to come soon)
