Default List of Dead Yu-Gi-Oh! Characters

The List of Dead Yu-Gi-Oh! Characters

The idea came from the 10th Anniversary Movie Thread. Assembling a list of characters who have died during the run of the franchise wouldn't be a bad idea. Also, I'd like to launch a page on the Janime Wiki main site when the list gets sufficiently filled up.

First of all, everything goes. The original manga, the anime (including filler arcs), the spinoffs, even the video games. Moreover, every character counts, from major ones to minor ones to bit characters. I'd like the list to be as comprehensible as possible.

Oh, and anything related to the 10th Anniversary Movie goes into spoiler tags, at least in this thread only. Just for those who deliberately avoid that thread for spoilers and do not wish to get spoiled here.

However, two problems would arise. What counts as a dead character, and how should we categorize the deaths?

I wrote down some guidelines below, suggestions are welcome.

    Guidelines

When should we consider the character as dead?

While some characters clearly die during the series' run, in the case of others it may be a blurry line, or the death might be even ambiguous. The death could be temporary and reversible, or the character kicked the bucket for good.

A character should be pinned down as dead right away if:
    • It has been confirmed by Takahashi in outside materials (e.g., interviews) or any other outside material.
    • The character is explicitly shown to be dead. (e.g., we see them dying, we see their corpse, we see their graves)
    • Another character's dialogue clearly shows that the character they are speaking of is dead. (i.e., they mention the person has died)
    • If their physical, living bodies perish, they are dead.
    • If instead of their bodies dying, their souls are taken and/or lost indefinitely with no hope of retrieval, that's a form of death too.
      • Soul removal only equates to death when either the soul is lost/destroyed, or the body the soul belongs to dies and thus, it can't really return "home."

A character could be possibly designated as dead if:
    • We don't see the death explicitly, but the scene or the situation implies that the character in question has died. Character is to be considered as dead if the consensus is that the character must have died. (e.g., Character jumps out of the window or falls down a cliff, but we do not see what happens afterwards.)

    Temporary deaths

It is known that not every character dies permanently in Yu-Gi-Oh!. However, if we have seen the character in question dying despite being brought back later on, they should be included on the list. (e.g., Dark Signers from 5D's)

    Ambiguous deaths

However, a death, be it temporary or not, could walk a blurry line on dying or not dying. Such deaths may have to be discussed beforehand. If the death cannot be decided, it should be listed in a special category.

    Cause of death

These should be as simple as possible, unless the death requires a more in-depth explanation. (i.e., the nature of the death may require explanation) In case of ambiguous deaths, we go for what is accepted by the consensus.

    Categorizing Deaths

Deaths could be categorized in several ways. Is the death permanent? Is the death temporary? Did it happen before the series' events, or during the series?

I propose the following categories to be used. Again, suggestions are welcome.

    BY SERIES
    • Yu-Gi-Oh! Original Series
      • Original Manga
      • R Manga
      • Toei Anime
      • NAS Anime (Duelist Kingdom, Battle City and Memory World arcs)
      • NAS Anime (Noa, Doma, KC Grand Prix arcs, other filler arcs)
    • Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
      • Anime
      • Manga
    • Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
      • Anime
      • Manga
    • Yu-Gi-Oh! Movies
      • Pyramid Of Light
      • Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time / Bonds Beyond Time [WITH SPOILER TAGS]
    • Video Games
    • Card Game Lore
    • Other

    BY THE NATURE OF DEATH
    • Permanent Death
    • Temporary Death
    • Ambiguous Death

    BY THE TIME OF DEATH
    • Death occurred before the series' present
    • Death occurred during the series

BY THE NUMBER OF PERSONS DYING
    • Individual character deaths
    • Mass character deaths

Note for the Individual / Mass character deaths:
Because majority of the deaths land in the former category, mass deaths are individually listed in their own section.

    ________________________________________

    Character Template

This is still experimental, but the listing the characters would go like the following.

    Series Name

    Character Name

Died in [Episode number or chapter/volume] (If the character died before the series' present, add "Pre-Pilot" and note the episode their deaths were mentioned in.)
Age at Death (Only when applicable.)
    Cause of Death
Nature of Death (Homicide, Suicide, Accidental, Unexplained, Natural Causes)
    Party/Parties Responsible (Only when applicable.)
Other Contributing Factors (Only when applicable.)
    Time of Death
    Permanent or Temporary Death

    And so on.

    Note on Character Names:
If the character in question has no name given, then just give them a title. For example, "X's mother" or "Y's parents".

    ________________________________________

That covers the guidelines. Once again, suggestions are welcome. The List can be found in the post below.

  3. Default Re: List of Dead Yu-Gi-Oh! Characters

I'll get the ball rolling! I'm lazy so I'm just gonna lump all characters from the manga and anime together and note where each comes from when necessary.

    YGO Manga:

Prisoner 777: Burned alive by his Penalty Game from Yami Yugi.

Mr. Kanekura: Devoured by Ammit after suffering Shadi's Penalty Game.

Hajimi Imori: Soul taken and devoured by 25 Chinese Dragons after challenging Yami Yugi.

Player Killer of Darkness: Believes himself to be hung over an infinite chasm of darkness. Either dead or a vegetable thanks to Yami Yugi.

Gozaburo Kaiba: Kills himself after Seto Kaiba steals his company.

Pegasus J. Crawford: Killed by Yami Bakura after having his Millennium Eye gouged out.

Bandit Keith: Is killed by believing his hand is a gun, and is "shot" by his finger. Is later revived by Tenma Yako by the power of the Wicked Avatar. It is unknown whether or not he lives on or dies once he loses to Jounouchi in YGO R.

Ghost Kotsuzuka: Is killed by Yami Bakura in a Game of Darkness during Battle City. In the anime, he gets swallowed by Darkness and sent to Hell. Same thing.

Malik's Father: Is stabbed to death by Yami Malik after nearly killing Rishid. Is skinned along his back as well.

Akinadin: Kills himself after Priest Set refuses to join him.

Thief King Bakura: Is killed by Pharaoh Atem.

Shimon Muran: Dies fighting Zorc Necrophades

Mahad: Dies fighting Thief King Bakura

Priestess Isis: Dies fighting Zorc Necrophades

    Karim: Dies fighting Zorc Necrophades

    Shada: Dies fighting Zorc Necrophades

Shadi: Was dead since the beginning.

    YGO Duel Monsters Anime:

Notes: Pegasus and Bandit Keith live in this adaption. Player Killer of Darkness isn't killed but instead has his mind shattered and is left in a presumed, mind broken state.

Takaido: Is sent to Hell by Yami Bakura during Battle City as a Penalty Game.

Satake: Is sent to Hell by Yami Bakura during Battle City as a Penalty Game.

The Big Five: After being trapped in the virtual world due to their failed attempt at trapping Seto Kaiba in the virtual world, their bodies die. Their digitized souls are erased by Noa Kaiba due to their failures.

Ironheart: After living for thousands of years, he finally dies once struck by lightning from Dartz. His son

Chris: After living for thousands of years, finally dies once struck by lightning from Dartz. Her own father.

Sunny: After living for thousands of years, finally dies once struck by lightning from Dartz. Chris's pet.

Dartz: Finally passes on once defeated by Yami Yugi.

Anubis: Destroyed by Yami Yugi. Was originally a servant of Akinadin 3000 years ago and was mummified alive so he could be turned into an avatar of the God of Mummification and Judgment of the Dead...Anubis.

(Miscellaneous yet important deaths in DM include Rafael's family, Amelda's little brother, and the nun who helped care for Varon and his orphanage. Varon presumably kills the thugs who burned down the orphanage and murdered the Sister as well.)

    YGO Duel Monsters GX:

Daitokuji: Dies after losing his Duel of Darkness against Judai. His artifical body crumbles and his soul finally departs it...However his cat eats it, and from then on he exists as a disembodied spirit that inhabits his cat's stomach.

Titan: In his second duel, is eaten by darkness. That's pretty much a death sentence isn't it..?

Camulla: Has her soul stolen by the Phantom Gate of the Netherworld and her body is turned to ash.

Abidos the III: Passes into the Afterlife once he finally lets go, after having a satisfying duel with Judai.

Amon: Dies after losing to Possessed Johan in the Duel Monster world.

Echo: Dies after being sacrificed to Exodia by Amon.

    YGO 5Ds:

Dr. Fudo: Dies in Zero Reverse.

Rex Godwin: Dies after losing a Duel of Darkness against Rudger. Revived as a Dark Signer but when defeated again, chooses to stay dead once the King of the Underworld is defeated.

Rudger Godwin: Dies after causing the Zero Reverse. Is revived as a Dark Signer, but is defeated. Chooses to stay dead once the King of the Underworld is defeated.

Bokuru: Crashes and dies thanks to Placido and his Machine Emperor.

Placido I: Is destroyed by Yusei in a duel. Is rebuilt and is now "Placido II." Seems to have the same memories and personality of Placido I, but his appearance is slightly different and more...dead-ish.

Spoiler: YGO 10th Anniversary movie spoiler
Paradox: Is killed by Yugi, Judai and Yusei after losing his duel against them. ...That's all I can think of right now.

Regarding Aknadin, didn't Kisara erase him from Priest Seto's mind? Or was that just the Dark Priest?

Fixx'd. I'm so used to discussing it, I forgot its technically still a spoiler. Oops.

Akinadin's dark spirit possessed Seto, and yes. Kisara purged it from him. He still was stone dead though.

    GX Anime, Ambiguous Deaths:

    Birdman
    Scarr
    Zure
    Brron
    Kozaky
    Bauo
    Skull Bishop
Skilled Dark Magician/Skilled White Magician/Demise, King of Armageddon
    Chaos Sorcerer
    Freed

It's never specified whether characters killed in those dimensions stay dead, or if the "sent to another dimension and drained of energy" only applied to Judai's friends.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! wiki has an incomplete list. I'm not going to bother copying and pasting it. And yes, it's using the dub names, but the whole wiki does, despite most recurring users preferring the original version.

I'm pretty sure the anime said everyone killed would come back if Yubel was defeated. I don't think Manjoume differentiated only humans or outsiders.

And I knew I forgot some people. Noa Kaiba seems so obvious. As does Chopman. How could I forget dear Chopman?!

I also forgot DD and Professor Satou. Along with Professor Viper.

    And Divine.

    I FAIL HARD T____T

Fair enough. I had hoped that would be case. Otherwise, Judai slaughtering entire villages and then not really having that ever brought up again in Season 4 would be...well yeah.

@Cheesedude: Yeah, I saw that page. I'll be honest, that's where I got the idea from. XD; It's kind of a pity the page isn't linked anywhere, I came across it only because I saw it in the edit history in the sidebar. And thanks for listing the ambiguous deaths!

@ Mako: You forgot Cyndia too, among other minor characters here and there. XD I mean, she had a pretty funeral. Don't worry about it, though. That's why we work together, and your list was pretty impressive enough anyway.

On which note, death images for the Wiki.

It doesn't have to be just one image. And since the page would get long enough, we could try fitting in quite a lot of death illustrations. If anyone has suggestions for the images, those can come, too. ^^ Like Kanekura's Penalty Game or Atem going to the Afterlife. (Technically, that's him dying, seeing how he was sealed into the Puzzle and never got to die "properly". Right? ...Right?)

Yeah ,due to time travel his past/future self could appear in 5DS although his original self who time -traveled would be dead.Am I making sens?

That's how I found it myself a while back, and I edit that wiki very frequently. That being said, I've not been able to think of anywhere where linking to it would be appropriate, unless I went ahead and linked occurrences of the world "death" to that page.

    Spoiler: Spoilers
We don't know at all, really. We could see him before all the crap to his future happens, maybe he's mentioned in dialogue, perhaps the spacetime waves change how everything plays out. Because we simply have no idea how Paradox fits into all of this at all, for the time being. All we can do now is just speculate.

Or you know, Timey Wimey Ball.

But for now, we know that he was killed in the past. So he's added to the list.

Ah, I see. I like how you solved the issue, hopefully the page will get more traffic, then. Also, you could link the "Deceased" part in character profiles. e.g., character has a dead relative, "deceased" links to the page.

Also, I didn't really get to updating because I had to get some sleep first. I'll resume updating now.

Right, I think I got everyone down from the manga section. But first, a few questions:

Were any of the characters from the first volumes (eg. Prisoner 777, Kanekura) shown to die in the Toei anime? If so, which episode?
Also, in which chapter was it explained that Malik's mother died and his father was skinned? I know the latter was in the backstory chapter (can't recall the number) but I'm not sure about his mother.
What about the deaths of the priests? Also, they are all permanent deaths, right? Moreover, would the priests' deaths count as before the series' present, or during the series because they perished in the Dark RPG? Or... both.
And I assume Shadi's nature of death cannot be determined.

Let's not consider Paradox as dead yet, since he'll reappear in the future 5D'S series. The fact he still will be a main villain, doesn't mean he'll die while he's...in the 5D'S time period.

    Could you keep movie related things in this thread under spoiler tags, please? I know we pretty much go all-out in the movie thread, but... this is just for those who avoid said thread for spoilers. >.>;

    Spoiler: Spoilers
And like I told King. Timey Wimey Ball. He still traveled back in time and got destroyed along with Sin Truth Dragon. His D-Wheel was destroyed. He was fused into a monster which got destroyed. He even "offered his body as a sacrifice". We don't see him after the duel. So for the time being, he is dead.

We still don't know how he's connected to 5D's. It could be anything. Yoshida did not say anything else. We don't know anything. And we do not know if he will return as a villain. Atsushi Tamura even mentioned that he didn't want people to look at Paradox as your usual villain.

Even if the spacetime waves from Illiaster would change the future, which would somehow change his circumstances, he still died by the movie's events. So it still counts.

Kanekura was one of the few characters to die in the Toei series, I recall. Episode 5. The Prisoner 777 situation is very different in the Toei series, and nobody dies. I'll point out that Prisoner 777 most likely doesn't actually die in the manga either -- in the Gospel of Truth, he has a personal quote in the penalty games section. The only people not to get comments in the section are Keith, Kanekura and Imori; in other words, the people who died or were turned into a vegetable for real.

Thanks Ryusaki. I'll remove Prisoner 777 from the list, then. (And lol, vegetable.)

For mass deaths, in the original manga I can recall Kul Elna's massacre. Then people must have died during the Doma arc, when that war happened in which Amelda was in. Then everyone died on the cruise ship Rafael was on.

Did anything like that occur in GX?

Then in 5D's, there was the Zero Reverse.

    Spoiler: 10th Anniversary Movie
Would Paradox's future count as a mass character death? There are only ruins, and we only see Paradox.

Though, the destruction in Domino City would definitely count. Pegasus and Sugoroku were also notable (temporary) deaths.

I know some people have said on this forum that they avoid the movie thread for spoilers. There may not be many of them (not many I know off the top of my head, anyway), but I'd like to play this safe for once. (Even if I may be guilty myself for discussing topics tied to the movie in the speculations thread.)

How come there's no mention of Mr. Phoenix yet? D= He dies in BOTH GX continuities.

Also, the temporary "deaths" in season three weren't actual deaths. They just got transported to another dimension. Kaiser did die, however. Or he should've. We see his heart actually stop beating from events that have nothing to do with Yubel, but then he's fine at the end of the season. ugh

Also, Cobra and Rick for GX.

Too many characters in this franchise. XD But wow, he does? I knew about the anime, although I don't follow the manga. Does he die for the same reason in the manga?

I'll add them as well, then. And noted Ryo's death... or not death.

Also, I forgot to add Amane. With Bakura writing a letter to her, he also addresses his mother (asking Amane if she and mother is alright). Would this mean his mother is also dead?

He is killed by Tragoedia who takes the cards he designed afterwards, so yeah. XD The details on exactly why he was killed hasn't been explained yet.

...and I would say that that is reasonenough to assume Bakura's mother is dead.

I also have to questioned why there's no mention of Atem yet. The entire story from Battle City and on is based on the fact that he's the spirit of a dead Pharoah who's trying to finally pass on. lol

Ahh, okay. In the anime, it was DD who killed him, am I correct?

Alright. Will add her too, then.

On the topic of Atem, do Dark Malik and Dark Bakura count? Though, it was mentioned that Dark Malik is merely a split personality of Malik. While Dark Bakura was Zork, who was defeated in the Dark RPG.

Yes, his body is discovered and shown to Domino City in the third volume. I'm agree to Bakura. But I have a doubt for Marik: in the manga, when Marik "kill" Bakura/Zorc, he vanished in the darkness but he come later. It isn't the same for Dark Marik?

I didn't actually link them. I was saying that I couldn't think of any other way, but actually hadn't done it yet.

Strange one here: in chapter 218 when Dark Marik is about to kill the unconscious Rishid, we see a member of the Battle Ship's medical staff slumped with Millennium Rod slashes down his back. Now this is never mentioned afterward, but I think it's unlikely that Dark Marik would give a warning stab, if you know what I mean.

    Pharaoh Atem

Died in: Chapter 343, Volume 38
Cause of Death: Lost the Ceremonial Battle, departed to the Afterlife.
    Nature of Death: Permanent Death
Time of Death: During the series (At the end of the series)
The human Atem dies way before the beginning by sealing his soul within the Millennium Puzzle. The disembodied spirit Atem crosses to the Afterlife after losing in the Ceremonial Battle. A human can die, but a spirit can only disappear, cross to the afterlife, cross over into the Light, or the spirit world and so on, but not to die.

Holy crap, I totally forgot about that.

That shit freaked me out, because basically Yami Malik was going around killing folks on the ship and no one could do a damn thing about it. I always thought it was weird he wasn't like...confronted about that or anything.

In the anime all he did was brainwash the doctor to open the door for him to get to Rishid's room.

Very good point. Thank you for reminding me of that. XDDD

Oh yeah, I remember you mentioning that once. XD That's creepy indeed.

Okay, I wasn't entirely sure. I did ask if he actually died when he sealed himself into the Puzzle (then I deleted said question), because I remembered how Atem departs to the Afterlife. (And thus thought my previous assumption was awkward to ask.) I only assumed Atem "died for real" when he made it into the Afterlife since he was a Sealed Good In A Can all along, not really having a true rest.

But I'll go correct it. I think you got your point across well enough, thank you.

I'm not sure how to define the Nature of Death, though. Also, do we know when it was specifically mentioned that Atem sealed himself away in the Puzzle?

Although, this makes it a bit difficult. What about Gozaburo and Noa? When did they actually die, when they had their brain uploaded, or when the facility was destroyed (thus their data)? What about Kisara, who more or less went on to live as the BEWD? (Although Kisara herself died, but she could still talk to Seto when she purged Aknadin/The Dark Priest(?) from his mind...)

Speaking of Bakura's dead relatives, we have Amane, his dead sister, as well. She died in a car accident prior to the beginning of the series. This instance also confirms his mother's death, since he writes 'How are you and mother?' in his letter to her. I would even speculate it as possible that they died in the same accident.

Also, it's not exactly death, but if we're including Imori's soul-removal as a death, we could class Bakura's previous Monster World playmates as temporary cases of brain-deadening. That, and although I doubt Yugi would leave them, we have no confirmation their souls were returned to their bodies.

I added both of them a while ago. It did make me wonder if his mother died in the same accident, though.

That did cross my mind as well. There was also that P.E. teacher who got sealed into a Monster World Character Piece.

If their physical, living bodies perish, they are dead.

If instead of their bodies dying, their souls are taken and/or lost indefinitely with no hope of retrieval, that's a form of death too.

Yes we do. Once Dark Bakura was defeated during the Monster World Game of Darkness, all the souls of those he captured before returned back to their bodies. That included the mean gym teacher who tried to make Bakura cut his hair as well.

Gotcha. I'll add that to the guidelines, then.

Regarding the soul taking, would people like Sugoroku and the Kaibas being sealed into the Soul Prison cards count as temporary deaths? What about everyone Dartz collected into his soul collection?

No, because it has to be something permanent and irreversible. Sugoroku and Kaiba had their souls temporarily taken which we knew from the start could be reversed. Their bodies were still alive.

Immori lost his soul and it cannot be saved, as it's being devoured by dragons until nothing is left of it.

The Big Five had their minds/consciousness trapped within cyberspace forever and because of that, they physically died.

It all depends on the context of their death and how its introduced in the story. If its not permanent then it shouldn't count.

Dartz's victims are for all intents and purposes dead if their bodies are already gone and they are unable to live, even if freed.

Not quite. Yugi says he and his friends were returned, and we see the Gym teacher, but it's never confirmed that the other victims were also saved. It is implied however, since the aforementioned Gym teacher returns. I was mainly suggesting it in case it should be noted in general, as the notion of soul-removal is pretty much as prevalent as death in Yu-Gi-Oh.

That's basically confirmed. Why else would the Gym Teacher be returned to his body? If it were just Yugi and his pals, they'd have just been shown as the only ones and we'd never have heard from the other victims again. The implication is pretty obvious. Soul removal only equates to death when either the soul is lost/destroyed, or the body the soul belongs to dies and thus, it can't really return "home."

I don't remember if a specific date of Atem's death was mentioned somewhere, but you can use the one from the Timeline project - somewhere around 1000 BC. The most important events for the then Egyptian Kingdom and the World are said to take place around this period. Which means that everything happened before the period of Egypt's New Kingdom/ Egyptian Empire (1550 BC - 1070 BC) So I guess it'll be OK if you use 1000 BC as the Time of Death, which will remain the same for all Egyptian characters' deaths.

Ahh, okay. I meant the "Time of Death" to be something like "In which chapter did this character die? In which episode the death was mentioned?". In the corner of my head I knew this wasn't the best definition to use, but it's nice to see how you and DarkDust thought of it like an actual time. If we added info like that too, we'd definitely have the most comprehensible death guide for the franchise, haha.

But I guess we can use dates in ambiguous cases like Atem's death.

Yo Arynis, I had a couple of dead people in my post that you didn't even stop to scrutinize.

I did see them. I did mention your ideas in my previous post, after all.

They look fine to me. I can't comment on the Fujiwaras because I haven't seen that part of the series. I already added Mrs. Ishtar, as "Malik's Mother". And Dartz's entry, and to an extent, Trueman's, just made me lol. (In a good way, of course.)

Going by your posts, it makes me wonder if I should redefine the templates to include more details, or redefine the various points. I was thinking in more simple terms (e.g. Did the character die temporarily or permanently?), but your list adds more information than I initially thought of. Hence my post to Lia -- it does sound interesting, but how should we do this exactly? Add more details on the death itself, or should we redefine what the meanings of certain points. (Blame my English and sometimes not finding the right word.)

Again, not willing to discard them, because they are good ideas. I just don't know how should it look like, exactly. This is also why I'm holding back on the updating for now, so I can work with the improved templates instead of the current one.

    So...

    Character Name

Died in (Episode number or chapter/volume -- if the death occurred before the series, then list the episode/chapter this has been stated.)
Age at Death (Only when applicable.)
    Cause of Death
Nature of Death <-- Redefine this?
Time of Death <-- Add if applicable?
    Permanent or Temporary Death
During the Series or Before it?

Kind of. You mentioned what I did for time of death. And I did so because you have an episode for death already, so I figured it needed to be something different.

That's why Yusuke was so insecure; he thought his parents had abandoned him by dying. I didn't see "Malik's Mother", apparently; and well, since their (Dartz and Mr. T's )deaths were only possible in-universe, I had to make fun of them.

Dude, trust me - even English speakers have a hard time finding the right word these days.

In forensics, nature of Death falls under 4 categories - homicide, suicide, accidental and unexplained. During/before the series can be included in Died in (hence why I used "pre-pilot"). Perhaps an addition of party/parties responsible (when applicable), as well as "other contributing factors"; both of which can be found in an autopsy report or case summary in real cases.

    *nods*

I see. I think I recall that now, now that you mention it. (I have faint memories of that episode -- Fujiwara had photos on the wall...)

Didn't Dartz die the moment he fused with the Leviathan? But then, we see him with Ironheart and Chris just before Yugi and Atem leave and the island collapses.

    That's true.

That sounds good. So that would make it...

    Character Name

Died in [Episode number or chapter/volume] (If the character died before the series' present, add "Pre-Pilot" and note the episode their deaths were mentioned in.)
Age at Death (Only when applicable.)
    Cause of Death
Nature of Death (Homicide, Suicide, Accidental, Unexplained, Supernatural)
    Party/Parties Responsible (Only when applicable.)
Other Contributing Factors (Only when applicable.)
    Time of Death
    Permanent or Temporary Death

Well... that's pretty thorough. @_@ How about adding "Supernatural" to the Nature of Death for cases like Trueman or Dartz? (Or perhaps I shouldn't, seeing how Kanekura was killed by a Penalty Game, even though the coroners reported it as shock... uh. That'd just make another blurry line.)

Also, "Party/Parties Responsible" would cover who made the person in question die? e.g., in Kanekura's case, the responsible party would be Shadi for casting the Penalty Game on him, killing him.

What would "Other Contributing Factors" cover?

How can you mention Mr. Phoenix and yet forget to mention his first killer, D.D.? T__T Death by burning yacht.

Kaiser did die, however. Or he should've. We see his heart actually stop beating from events that have nothing to do with Yubel, but then he's fine at the end of the season.
I know he should've died, but he definitely didn't return at the of season "fine". He just apparently returned in time to be saved by some random medical staff on the island. >_>
