    Default "The Super Long Interview with Kazuki Takahashi-sensei" (actual title)

    Well, in the Gospel of Truth character guide, there was a whole chapter devoted to a super big interview with Takahashi-sensei. And, since it's been sitting in a Word file for all this time, I decided to post the first part that I translated.

    O.O

    I'm pretty sure this has never been translated before...ever. I just knew the GoT was full of hidden pirate gold. I love how he throws out the KC workforce and annual income, lol. He also makes Seto's inability to accept failure even more acute.

    I could probably paste what I usually say when you release something awesome, which would be "awesome, Horoko. Simply awesome", but I won't be that lazy. Splendid, Horoko. Simply splendid.

    Oh, dear . If I were the motherly type, this is the part where I'd say something about wanting to have your babies. As it is, I'll just say THANK YOU SO MUCH. I spent countless hours on the web digging for Takahashi's interviews and only ever found a couple of short ones. This will be a treat.

    There's actually a whole site devoted the Takahashi-sensei I found months ago and never remembered to share. It has almost all of his interviews and stuff related to him archived. (Kazuki no Moto - Goroku. Completely in Japanese, though, so, yeah, maybe I can translate some stuff off the site sometime or later.)

    Hmm, did you happen to come across anything where he expresses his opinion on the DM fillers and/or GX? I always wondered what he thought about all the crazy stuff card games did in the anime.

    Sadly, I don't think so. The most recent stuff I've seen is from when he was at the San Diego.

    I'm surprised VIZ hasn't translated the Gospel of Truth yet, especially since I got "How to Read" (Death Note guide)

    Some more stuff about Kaiba and Gozuburo's relationship. The first two pages is nothing but stuff about Kaiba and whatnot.

    I honestly can't believe that Kaiba's "insane" side appeared as a result of Gozaburo's death. It actually makes so much sense I can't believe I missed it while reading the actual manga itself. This is really interesting, as it adds another dimension to his character in my opinion.

    Thank you for translating this Horoko!

    While I do have the fortune of owning a copy of the Gospel of Truth myself, not being able to read it really hinders it. This is a very welcome project here in the fan community, and I'm glad someone had the guts to take it on!

    Seto's obsession with Gozaburo... I never thought of all things that there was some guilt involved. It seems the fact that Gozaburo died prematurely really uprooted Seto's inner insanity.

    Yeah, How to Read was released in good time but Viz aren't showing any signs of releasing the Gospel of Truth. That's why it's down to our friendly neighborhood Horoko.

    I'm confused. Wasn't it because of the Big 5 plotting behind Kaiba's back, along with Kaiba's coma, that KC shares started to dip, rather than simply the fact that he lost?

    The loss and Kaiba going comatose is what caused the shares to drop and what caused the Big 5 to seek new management, to the best of my knowledge.

    Yeah, that's what I thought. His company being linked to his duelist reputation doesn't quite stack up, especially since Yugi eventually became the top-ranked duelist.

    Sugoroku got his Blue-Eyes White Dragon from a friend. That friend might have been acquainted with Pegasus. He probably recieved from him saying that it was a special card.
    Looks like Mr. Takahashi doesn't much care for the anime's Arthur Hopskins (even though the character was based off of that photograph Sugoroku showed the gang of his 'special friend').

    So that would mean, that Rebecca's grandpa would have some connections to I^2 and Pegasus X). A nice idea for fan fictions at least.

    Can't say that I blame him. The anime had a really bad habit of sticking too much importance to things that were really only supposed to fill the space between the big events (what with Arthur's Battle City/God Cards forshadwoing and all).

    Sugoroku was once a gaming master who tried all sorts of games all over the world and won every single one of them. When he was forty, he faced a legend talked about amongst his companions, which was the Shrine of the Game of Darkness said to be in Egypt.
    for the fact that Sugoroku had 40 years old in this time, I did go search which year was when Sugoroku did go to the game of darkness, which was 1960, and so go to Sugoroku profile see his age,72 years old, so since this day until Yugi with 15 years aold has passed 32 years old. so I calculated 1960+32 years, the result is 1992.

    so this means in 2007 Yugi is 30 years old,, I think.

    don't mind, I'm a little fanatic with dates and years about books and story.
    any ways thanks for translate it

    @Horoko

    Thanks for your translation of the interview so far. ^o^

    There's one question that I was wondering while reading this, though. Did Kazuki Takahashi ever mention during that interview about the extent as to how Kaiba has been abused by Gozaburo? Sure he was mentally abused, but I highly doubt that he was r*ped by him (or physically abused in an overexaggerated fashion), like how a few insane fangirls want him to be, right? o.O

    No, Takahashi-sensei never mentions it in the interview, but it is mentioned in the manga (and I believe in the anime) how Gozaburo used to work him into the ground.

    Was Sugoroku 72 at the beginning or the end of the manga? The Yugi could we saw in GX could be anywhere between the ages of 27 and 30.

    The manga is vague on the details, and the anime is just watered-down filler, so they didn't really help me much... But thanks for trying, anyway. ^^;
