Thread: Yuber, Yubel, Huber, Hubert...

I am so happy I'm not the only one who calls The Genie of the Lava Lamp. . .well, just that. =B Joy.

Interesting speculation from the japanese sites; I hadn't thought of that myself. 'Huber' and 'Hubel' are, respectively, the last names of German Nobel Prize nominates for bio and neurooptic studies, respectively. Not necessarily speculation, but an amusing Random Triva Tie-In given the biotank and giant eye. =B

It's possible that 'Huber' could be derived from 'hubris'. But that's just a pet idea of mine.

I actually thought that since Johan is pronounced Yohan, it's possible for Yuber to be written as something else, like the Y changing to J.

And how cool would that be, now we can name a Yuber, Judai and Johan shipping - Jshipping. Or TrippleJshipping. (or something) XD
Anyway, since I hear it as Yuberu I'll continue to call her as that. Well, Yuber actually, I don't respect the 'u' enough.

But I really don't think a discussion like that will get us anywhere... oh well

Well, SayaAensland, I've searched and 'Yubel' indeed meant 'rejoice' in German, however, I think Wibel suits more. Don't you think so?

�bel (I'm using the original German spelling, as that parses into English better than Wibel) does indeed seem the best match so far.

Yuber is a recurring character in the Konami console RPG Gensō Suikoden.

Considering the prevalence of Konami game-related card names in the OCG/TCG, I saw no reason to look beyond that correlation for any other significance...

Yuber (as in Suikoden) is spelt ユーバー not　ユベル. As seen here. I covered this in my explaination as well.
