Is it possible for one of the viewers to explain 5D's to me!? Kudos!
I've watched the original series and the GX series, but missed the wagon to watch to 5D's. I have heard it is excellent and succeeds GX already story wise and character wise, which makes me curious to get involved; could one of you fine members give me plot information, and please don't tell me to wiki it or watch for myself because I simply just don't have the time.
Thank you!

This, lol.
But yeah, aside from that, it can't really be explained; you sorta have to watch it to get the experience. I mean, sure, you get the basics, but if you don't watch it, it's not a complete experience. Of course, admittedly, I feel Season 1 was better than the second half of Season 2 pacing-wise, but it's still not that bad a series, and I'm hoping the writers redeem themselves in Season 3.Not to mention, have a good reason for reviving the bulk of the Dark Signers.

I think 5D's is a pretty good series, especially Season 1. Came Season 2, people started hating it for various reasons, but I think the main reason they hated it is because of a certain little character named Crow. Everyone goes nuts over him. That's what makes him awesomeIt's funny to see how people ***** and moan so much about how much they hate this guy, how much they want him dead, etc.
Oh, and a lot of people think that the writers didn't do good writing with Season 2. Because like I said various times before everyone thinks they're good writers. No, scratch that, everyone thinks they know good writing.
But yeah, it's worth a check. Season 1 is amazing though.

It's Yu-Gi-Oh! meets Indiana Jones meets Blade Runner meets Mad Max meets any Sentai series you've ever seen.
It's YGO, but it draws a lot on South America for its backstory since Western Alchemy, Atlantis, and Ancient Egypt got used up. It has relatively dystopian future with class segregation and intolerance of people who are different as a consistent plot element. Half of the series setting, for at least the first two arcs, Satellite, is a post-apocalyptic wasteland prison island for people who've done nothing wrong.
And the heroes organize in a relative 5-6 man team to stop an ancient war from occuring again in modern times and dragging the world to hell due to resurrecting an ancient evil god.
Personally, I think it's a pretty good series for what it is, despite its problem points, but it's very love hate it at this forum.

As usual, LeArk provides a pretty good summary. One thing to add on a completely geeky note:
We've been promised Moar Alchemy by the first stretch of the series, which slapped us about as subtly as a brick to the face with the promise of Iliaster vs Arcadia; a couple of organizations named for divergent alchemic philosophies. Rex even quotes an alchemist for us, directly, when explaining what Iliaster is, and Divine could hardly have been a more obvious 'Green Dragon' unless he sprouted wings himself ('The world is preparing to return to Arcadia', says the GD, 'It is preparing to cleanse itself of the common man'). The choice of the ecliptic Nazca Star Serpent as a model for the Crimson Dragon glyph seems almost pointedly oruboral, and would not be the first time the series has doubled-up symbols. So like the rest of YGO, I expect to see a smattering of things other than their Primary Source, in this case South America (largely Peru, with some imports). One of the nice things about YGO is its ability to unify divergent themes without making me headdesk too hard, too frequently. =B
Despite some issues with the Stupid Audience Stick early on, it certainly IS looking to be the inheritor to GX--which tapped everything from alchemy to ancient peruvian drug cults to buddhism to cloying judeo-christian overtones--if you're looking for mythological and occult easter eggs.
Oh, and it has major Family Issues, but this is YGO so you expected that.
I used to have a pretty good handle on the Big Picture in life. Then I got distracted by all the small shiny parts.
