But apparently two "Yu-Gi-Oh!" novelizations? Though the art's sorta weird. Or are they rereleases? o_O

Erm... I believe 'bull' referred not to the book, but to the card attached to it. Unless it really is releasing Arcana Force 1 - The Magician as a promo?

The book, on the other hand, seems to be some sort of re-releasing of the manga with a "Tarot Explaination" and an afterword with Takahashi-sensei.

I suppose it'd make sense to include an Arcana Force with that, but... Wow. Would they really open themselves up to printing the Arcana Forces as book promos, the most notoriously exclusive and stingy of all release outlets? Or releasing them at all for that matter? I'm not sure as to if they are any different quality wise. But, since the original tankoubon was printed on that rather poor quality newsprint and a soft cover, these could be printed on a superior paper with a laminate gloss with a hard cover (extending the life of the book by several years.)

BTW, I'm wondering why the S-Manga preview page for Volume 2 is part of the Shadi saga. The Shadi saga was near the end of the original volume 2. Do you think, maybe, they've put more chapters into each volume? If the Arcana card is true, they could be trying to make the amount of volumes equal to the amount of Arcana cards....

Compare the two (with this) and you can see that they added five more chapters per volume. (By my count.)

If anyone can get medium-to-high-quality scans of the pages that are different from the original volume (including the new covers, contents, and this tarot thing), Himitsu Project will scanslate and release them as an addon to the previous release.

Isn't 650 yen ($5.48 USD, 4.03 EUR, or 2.73 GBP) a little steep for a manga volume? According to my raws, the old volumes are about 400 yen ($3.37 USD, 2.48 EUR, or 1.68 GBP).

Actually, re-releases are usually expensive. The Kanzenban versions of Jump manga actually run to about 1,000 yen a pop.

It would appear an additional five chapters has been added into each rerelease volume as the major difference. Not sure how much this would reduce the print run of YGO down to.

Gondora's scan of the new LE cards also has pictures of the next two volumes of the manga reprints. And instead of another Yugi picture, they have Kaiba and Bakura on! Never thought I'd see Bakura don a cover again.

Anybody know when these things are out (not that it matters, I doubt Ideal808 will get them in)?

If I thought the shipping cost from amazon.co.jp to England was worth it for a manga at the moment, I'd get one. But right now, we're gonna have to wait for someone less stingy.

It's nice to finally see new material for Yu-Gi-Oh, not R, not GX. I dunno who does these new covers, but they're pretty nice looking. I'm betting next month'll be Pegasus and maybe Mai. Hoping for Ryuzaki is probably a bit too much, lol.

The Kaiba one looks really good, except for the creepy mouth. Early Kaiba is creepy, but not that creepy. The early-Bakura and Monster World front cover brings tears of happiness to my eyes.

I don't think any online retailers have hold of these yet. These were released pretty hush-hush to my general knowledge. I mean, these are pretty much the re-releases of the manga (so they can stop publishing the normal tankobans and start publishing these, I presume) and I didn't hear anything about them.

Thanks for the help! I just saw the new covers in the Vjump, it looks like the 'Shadow Game Arc' is going to be sqeezed into 4/5 volumes, a shame, but Takahashi-sans art is irresistable!! >.<

No not that Takahashi-sensei's drawing has deteriated, but his style just isn't like in the Yu-Gi-Oh era anymore (1996 fall -2004 spring). (Agreed among many Japanese YGO fans that now even Itou sensei drew more YGO like than the original creater.)

Doesn't seem to be to be the time yet.... They are releasing the BUNKO edition, which is more like a Pocket edition in the english world.

(The word Bunko size is the standard small size for Japanese Novel and Literature, so that the all the books can be stacked on shelves tightly and no space wasted. I have seen the shelves, with all the books of different titles yet all of same size, and there is only half a inch of space between each layer of shelf. The 1.8m (2 metres?) shelf I saw has like 14 or 15 layers, more than a thousand of books on one self.)

Usually for Popular Jump Comics Shueisha will publish the Complete Edition, which is even larger than the original manga tankoubons and costs a bomb. If I had not remembered wrongly Rurounin Kenshin Complete Edition costs 850 or 900 Yen each.... ^_^;

By the way, Yu-Gi-Oh fans from the 2ch.net originally expected Yu-Gi-Oh Complete Edition at late 2008/ early 09. Slam Dunk and Dragon Ball Complete Edition (ending Mid-90s) had their turn around 2004 and 2005, Yu Yu Hakusho has their finishing in 2006, and Ruronin Kenshin (ending 1999) finished their turn this month.

I am hoping that there will be a True Blue Complete Edition before the Tanboukons disappear.

The tarot card thing features characters on taro cards. The first one is The Magician (I) which features Yugi and the BM and BMG with their wands crossed (you all probably know whar I'm talking about.) The problem with these tarot cards are the characters are printed printed with this shiny gold stuff. It's lovely to look at in your hand if you have a hard copy, but they scan atrociously. (If anyone can fix this, let me know! I have larger scans of everything. My patience is sort of non-existent today, so.... >.<;; )

I ended up using my digital camera on the tarots, but photography isn't my thing. T_T

One tip I've seen for scanning foil is to use strips of cardboard to prop up the document, so that it's not touching the glass directly.

The edges are cut, BTW.

Book one has chapters 1-12. Book two has 13-25.

*compares with R4 in it's plastic & an overused Vol 18* They're actually smaller height & width~wise and about the same thickness as the old ones.

Cardboard thing didn't work. T_T The problem is the light from the scanner when it scans. They come out sh*tty even with the camera flash (those are flash-less).

Now if you had watched GX Season Two you would have had more than enough Tarrot info

In a more literal sence the Devil would suit Malik better. (though to some extent so would the Hanged Man or the Star)

However since the ultimate root of wickedness is Bakura (Thief Bakura) I would guess that

The whole game is pagan witchcraft silly (pre pagan beacuse there were temples to strange things in the desert when we were skill figuring out how to build simple huts)

For a while, I was thinking that, too (yeah, I think about random stuff when I lock myself out of the house) then remembered that she doesn't have the same "pleasure" factor going for her that Mai does. The Strength would fit her more, IMO; she had quite a lot of potential power in her, and put up with a lot before unleashing it.

Also, the Empress and Emperor do not have to be related by any means. In the X tarot set, for instance, the Empress and Emperor never even met in the series.

Bizarre thought: What do you think they'll do for The Lovers? I'm guessing Anzu, but...I know there will be some objections.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of these, hehe!

Hmm, toughie indeed! The Player Killer, although he does have the deck for it, doesn't seem to have the change aspect of Death. Maybe they'll be cheap and use the Reaper of the Cards for it.

Ghost Kosuka (sp?) would also be a possibility. Not to mention that he'd be hilarious to see in a flowing cloak with a scythe...He did, nonetheless, make Jounochi realize what was important in the end, as well as making him feel like he was in an inevitable lock for a bit...

S-Manga has added Volumes 3 and 4 to their archives. It seems that chapters have been added to each volume so that they completely chronicle their included saga. Volume 3 has all 15 chapters of Death-T, whereas Volume 4 has 19 chapters to span the whole Millennium Enemy saga, as well as the fillers before it. Volume 2 only had 15 chapters.

The Bakura cover looks great, now that there's a clearer image.

S-Manga has added Volumes 3 and 4 to their archives. It seems that chapters have been added to each volume so that they completely chronicle their included saga. Volume 3 has all 15 chapters of Death-T, whereas Volume 4 has 19 chapters to span the whole Millennium Enemy saga, as well as the fillers before it. Volume 2 only had 15 chapters.

The Bakura cover looks great, now that there's a clearer image.

I wish it said that, but it's just a preview of the first few pages. We're gonna have to wait until someone gets them. They are both up on Japanese Amazon, and volume 4 is a bit more expensive because it has such a ridiculous amount of chapters. Sadly, the one person who has reviewed 4 doesn't seem to have mentioned the Tarot card. Or at least, not from what I can tell from this crappy translator

Hopefully V-Jump will keep the habit of revealing the covers of the next two every month. Pegasus and Jonouchi on the covers, I'm betting.

And you're right, those cards don't look foil at all. Hopefully it's just a picture of them pre-foiling, because foiling doesn't photo well. I was kinda surprised that they did Atem myself, but it wasn't totally unexpected...Sorta redundant to me, is all.

I'm interested to see what they do for The Hierophant and The Lovers. I want to say that Hierophant is going to be Mahaado, and Lovers will either be Pegasus and Cynthia (as someone already suggested) or Anzu with her love triangle. Take your pick.

Well, I'm finally finished with the Afterword for Vol. 1. I had a lot to do this month, so things have been getting pretty hectic, but I found the time tonight to do this.

文庫本化にあたり、何年かぶりに倉庫の奥に積まれていた原稿と対面しました。自分の中で『遊☆戯☆王』という作品はすでにしているワケで、連載を終了してからは単行本開いて読み返すこともほとんどなかったんだけど．．．案の上、懐かしいやら、恥ずかしいやらでホント頭抱えちゃったりする。最近は、パンコンで色塗るのが楽しくなってしまい、せめて文庫本の表紙は新たに描き下ろそうと決めたのですが、当時の絵と比べると、かなりギャップを感じるかも知れないけれど、そこの所は許してやって下さい。（でも初期の頃の絵も意外と好きなんだけれど。）全編を通して章分けすると---（第１章）学園編　（第２章）DEATH・T編　（第３章） RPG（モンスターワールド）編　（第４語）決闘者（デュエリスト）の王国編　（第５章） D・D・D編　（第６章）バトルシティ　（最終章）王の記憶編

When the reprint editions were being made, I was faced with the drafts stacked up inside my warehouse. Although, with my "Yu-Gi-Oh" creation already complete, I myself had almost never opened up a graphic novel and re-read it after ending the series...As I had feared, I was really worried, what with the nostalgia and embarrassment and all. Nowadays, I've been enjoying coloring with my computer, and while I at the least decided to redraw the reprints' covers for the occasion, I feel there might be a considerable gap compared to my art back then, but please forgive me for that. (Though, I surprisingly like my early art as well.) When dividing the chapters, through every arc--(Chapter 1) School Arc, (Chapter 2) Death-T Arc, (Chapter 3) Monster World Arc, (Chapter 4) Duelist Kingdom, (Chapter 5) D-D-D Arc, (Chapter 6) Battle City, (Final Chapter) Pharaoh's Memory Arc.

『遊☆戯☆王』は、カードゲームが主流と思われているけれど、ここに収録されている”学園編”があらゆる意味で思いいれが深い。慣れない週刊連載の締め切りに追われる緊張感の中で、登場人物達の個性や信頼関係を築きながら、共に困難を乗り越えたような感覚を今読み返しても思い出すような気がします。『遊☆戯☆王』に登場するキャラクターは誰もが心に弱さを抱えていて、物語の鍵となる「千年パズル」のように、それぞれがパズルの１ピースとなり、誰一人欠けてもストーリーが成り立たない作品づくりが理想でした。さらに、限定的空間の中で仕掛けられたゲームを主人公がいかにクリアしていくか。小道具やアイデアに満ちたロジカルな作りで、何とか一話読み切り形式でずーっと続けていこうと、悪戦苦闘の跡が初期の頃の作品から感じ取れる。アイデアの乏しい頭脳ゆえ断念しましたが、当時は精一杯描いたつもりです。『遊☆戯☆王』はかなり前に連載を終了したにもかかわらず、現在もアニメのシリーズ『遊☆戯☆王ＧＸ』も放映しているし、カードやゲーム、そしてアシスタントの伊藤くんと影山くんが描いている漫画もＶジャンプに掲載されています。『遊☆戯☆王』の遺伝子が今尚受け継がれ、様々な形で世界に広がっている現状と、それらを支持して下さるファンの方々には心から感謝したいと思います。

In Yu-Gi-Oh, while the card game is considered to be more mainstream, I am deeply attached to the "School Arc" compiled in here in more ways than one. Now I re-read and think I remember the sense of overcoming difficulties while building personalities and relationships of trusts under the tension of meeting the unfamiliar deadlines of a weekly series. For the characters featured in Yu-Gi-Oh, creating a work, where everybody holds a weakness in their heart, and similar to the Millennium Puzzle which is the key to the story, each of them becomes a single piece of a puzzle, to which if anyone is lost, the story wouldn't work out, was ideal. Yu-Gi-Oh, despite ending the series a few years ago, currently has an anime series "Yu-Gi-Oh GX" being broadcast on television, cards, games, and the mangas drawn by my assistants, Itou-kun and Kageyama-kun, being featured in V-Jump. The Yu-Gi-Oh line is being extended even now, and I would like to thank the ways its being spread over the world in diverse forms and my fans who support them from the bottom of my heart.

遊戯、そして登場人物（キャラクター）達と共に旅を続けた証である原稿を読み返しながら、時に修正し、一枚一枚の足跡をたどりながら、文庫本を創っていくつもりです。おつき合いくだされば幸いです。

I plan on re-reading the drafts, the proof that I traveled along with Yugi and the other characters, incidentally revising them, following each track, and create the reprint editions. I hope we can keep good relations with one another.

Does anybody know the significance of the 67 above the volume number? I mean at first I thought it was the number of volumes in the series (Which is stupid because that would make it more than the original series @_@) I thought it could be the series (I.E its the 67th reprint series)

作品にミステリーやオカルトの要素を盛り込もうと、エジプトに取材旅行に行ったのですが、今「エジプトから来た神（おとこ）」のエピソードを読み返すと、ミステリーを飛び越えてかなりシュールで難解だ。シャーディーというキャラクターも謎めいていて、生きているのかさえ疑わしい描き方をしてしまったので読者に伝わりづらかったかも知れない。やはり結界は正直なもので、シャーディーの回はいきなり人気は急降下し、打ち切りの話も出る始末。『遊☆戯☆王』という作品は最初から、古代エジプトのファラオの関わる話にしようと決めていたから大変だ。今から路線変更はできない．．．．．．打ち切り！！！それは、ボク自信が心の迷宮に迷い込んでしまったような焦燥感だった。ま、いいか。なるようにしかならないし。

I took a trip to Egypt to gather info to incorporate elements of mystery and the occult in my work, but now, when re-reading the "Man from Egypt" episode, clearing past the mystery, it is very surreal and abstract. Since I drew the Shadi character in a way that made him wrapped in mystery and questionable to whether he was even alive, it may have been hard to introduce that to the readers. The barriers were indeed, in all frankness, there, since Shadi's series took a nose dive in popularity and it turned out with talk of a discontinuation. Since I had decided to go further into his relationship with the Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh, it was big trouble. I can't change my policies now...Discontinue it!!! That was the feeling of irritation I had, like I myself had gone astray in the labyrinth of my mind. Oh, well. That's the way it goes.

文庫本１巻に収録された「牙を持つカード」が、当時のジャンプに掲載された週に読者の問い合わせが編集部に殺到したらしく、異常な人気を得ていたのを思い出した。カードゲームのエピソードは前編・後編の一話限りと考えていたのだけれど、やはりもう一度読者の要望に応えようと。当初、海馬瀬人はゲーム会社の御曹司の設定で、奇妙なゲームを次々と考案しては遊戯でくるという構想を考えていたのだが、急遽、彼に再びカードを持たせることになったわけだ。さらに主人公のライバルという準主役にふさわしいキャラクターに再構築したのである。（名前に関しては、古代エジプト神話に登場するセト神から付けたものだが、もしかしたらその段階で、主人公のライバルとなる運命を背負っていたのかも知れない。）

I remember that "The Cards with Teeth", compiled in Reprint Volume 1, gained strange popularity and, the week that it was featured in the Jump at the time, reader inquiries seemed to flood the editorial department. At first, I had considered establishing Kaiba as the scion to a gaming company and have him challenge Yugi to fight with the strange games he continuously comes up with, but, on very short notice, I had gave him cards once again. In addition, I had reconstructed him into a character appropriate for the semi-lead character and the main character's rival. (As far as his name is concerned, it was given to him from the God Set that appears in Ancient Egyptian myths, but perhaps at that stage, he might have been burdened with being destined to be the main character's rival.)

それがまさか、数年後、空前のカードゲームを巻き起こすなど、その時点で誰が予想しただろうか。とにかく一番驚いたのは、作者であるボク自信だったかも知れない。かくして次巻”DEATH・T編”。

Who would have thought, at that point in time, that several years later, it would give rise to a record-breaking card game? In any case, the biggest surprise may be myself as an author. And thus, the next volume will be the "Death-T Arc."

Aww, I'm sorry to hear about you having a death in the family. Someone close to me also died a month or two ago.

Also, the scans were big enough. Nice and clear. The only problem I had was on the first page of the second Afterword. One part was kind of blurred, for some reason. Other than that, they were perfect. I'll get started on those "Yu-Gi-Oh Karuto Enki"/"Yu-Gi-Oh Karuto no Tahabure" pages either this week or next week.

As a replayshipper I'm not totally a fan of it, though not so much because I have any illusions about the pairing I love ever being canon (it won't be) but more because I don't really like the message of YugixAnzu at all. I never really gushed at "Well, I'll settle for you since you're second best." "Yay! I'm a consolation prize!" since Yugi to me deserves better lol. Pegasus and Cyndia would have been very appropriate and genuinely romantic.

Though to be honest, alot of these so far seem to be chosen more for the sake of drawing those characters than because they fit. Pegasus doesn't strike me as a wise, holy guide towards knowledge and religious order. Maybe it's the Toons, the camp, or the fact that he had to lose a children's card game to a 15 year old boy just to realize that trapping people in cards to take a piece of jewelry to impress a board of trustees to take over a company to make a machine to make his wife live again wasn't the most sterling of plans.

So I'm not putting too much stock in the perfect matches and meanings of these when they're just cute drawings, lol. Pegasus isn't really a hierophant by any means, so it doesn't make Yugi and Anzu the perfect lovers or something. Actually, is it my imagination or would Pegasus have made a perfect Emperor, since the card is about controlling things in your life and the need to accept that you can't control everything?

You're right: Kazuki Takahashi's no CLAMP.

The only objection I would have to Pegasus being The Emperor would be the fathering aspect.

Other than that, yeah. Hopefully, Takahashi's explanation will shed light on the method to the madness.

Great Scott... S-Manga has added the the new covers to their site archive. As I expected, Volume 5 is is the same picture of Yugi and Jonouchi used on a V-Jump cover a few months ago, but Volume 6 is Pegasus...with a Magic and Wizards card and a volume of Funny Rabbit under his arm and Funny Rabbit himself sitting on his arm.

It's simply awesome. I knew the Pegasus cover would be good.

Man, there's a lot more content than there was last month. Takahashi seems to have gone all-out with his explanation for The Lovers. Cheers Cind. Pegasus cover... *drools* Although Magic and Wizards cards just don't look right without the corkboard pattern on the back.

Darnit, the one chance they have at dispelling the irritating Malik/Marik argument once and for all and they go all Engrishy on us. I somehow doubt 'Maric' is the official spelling. The rest are the same as Viz uses, except for their 'Jyonouchi' and their almost dub-friendly use of 'Yami'.

Oh, and PegasusxCroquet, I'm glad someone else sees through Amazon.co.jp's criminal shipping rates to outside of Japan. The shipping should not be quadruple the cost of the order, lol.

HA I knew it. Yami Malik is indeed an yami hensing the name 'yami'. I know what the three character symbols look like and it falls under his name.

What the heck does the character analyisis bars mean? I really thought that the creator would have a yugioh guide book for the memory arc, but as of yet I have never seen one. Or an art book focusing on the characters and not the cards.

Err where the heck did 'Maric' come from? Is it really spelled that way? I doubt it since it does not look right to me. The same goes for the way they spelled Ishtar.

"Yami" has been classed off into its own separate branch of existence? Does that make Bakura and Yugi "Omote's" because their referred to as "omote Yugi" in the manga/anime as well?

Dark Malik is Malik's dark side, but a self-created dark personality, unlike the sprits in the Millennium Puzzle and Millennium Ring. Of course he would be "Dark Malik" (the dark side to Malik,) but his origins of being are nowhere near the same as the rest. None of the other characters refer to the evil Bakura with 闇/yami or the other darker personalities either. (Or if it is, it's very rarely and not when addressing them.)

I should probably make a note to include that on my FAQ....

Anyway, the "Character Analysis Table" is a 3D Graph that Takahashi-sensei made and draws to when making characters. It's split into five categories: Narcissism, Altruism, Self-Restraint, Greed/Attachment, Unselfishness/Indifference, Madness. The closer to 0 on the graph it is, the more normal that character is. (That means you can actually say that Kaiba is a five on the narcissistic a**hole meter and be somewhat truthful about it! Heh heh...just kidding ;D ) I'll translate the whole thing soon, so you know which is which, so don't worry.

"Maric" is a poor rendering of the katakana. Not horribly incorrect, but just a little messed up. (It's also inconsistent with Ishizu's name because it's lacking a surname.)

I'm not saying that it's "supposed" to be Malik, but it's the name that makes the most sense contextually. Takahashi-sensei studied up on Egyptian culture and whatnot beforehand very throughly, so I think it's much more possible for him to have written マリク with the intent to write "Malik." Of course, no one can be 100% positive, but that seems more likely. ("Maric" just seems like a bad romanization, since it's not a common name. Hence why Keith Howard and Pegasus J. Crawford are listed correctly. You can't really screw those up...unless you spell it "Krawfordo"

)

Ishizu's name is merely "Isis" spelled 'contextually' (イ[i]シ[si]ズ[s]) and is proved a little bit more by her Ancient Egyptian counterpart "Isis" (アイシス.) I use "Ishizu" just to differentiate the two nowadays. (Duel Monsters 2 on the Game Boy spelled her name in kanji for some reason...it spelled "Ishizu" but was pronounced "Naomi" in the game. Another example of a name screw up

Looks like Marker to me. The same way I use markers to color YGOR. They seem to be more advanced skilled than me. lol

Which game had the crazy cheap AI? It probably was 2, now that I think of it. I would always get my a** handed down to me. (Wait, maybe I'm thinking of Shin Duel Monsters 1...)

Anyway, I will probably post translations here within the week. Hopefully nothing else happens that makes me miss out on translating things.

I was wondering about that too. It would be nice to think they're all hand-drawn, but there's probably some digital process. A bit like 'dentist's waiting room' paintings.

As for Shin Duel Monsters, I doubt it's that game that kicked Horoko's a** (except in the early duel where you have to lose to progress). In Shin Duel Monsters I always found that buying a Jirai Gumo got you through the majority of the game. Once you manage to win a Meteor Black Dragon, you're set.

It's probably colored in copic marker and then digitally cleaned up, but most likely, he used some sort of digital process. You can tell he used some computer effects for the Bakura and Pegasus cover. (Blur techniques and whatnot.)

Wow, what a contrast. The Yugi cover is, absolutely amazing. Look at that BEUD... The Mai cover, well, yeah---scary. the Harpie looks good, but I can't quite pinpoint what makes Mai look so weird. I like them both though.

The same thing with the 2nd cover. It looked like it was trying to be too real. (So it just looked like some dude in a Yugi wig without a nose.)

Those covers are beautiful! To me, Mai doesn't look weird at all, instead she looks very nice that way. I really like how the characters are being portrayed more realistically. It's a change from the usual thing and it looks good! (The only one I think looks a little off is the 2nd one, otherwise I love these covers)

I couldn't quite work it out at first either (O_o), but I think she does look a bit too real, perhaps Takahashi-san went a bit mad with the smudge button again? XD

Yeah, same for me.
But I really like the Mai one too. I think maybe most of the weirdness comes from the fact that despite their faces being more realistic, their hair has remained the same, all angles and spikes. Ah, well, they look amazing anyway. ^^

As I had hoped, the Mai cover does look a lot nicer in HQ, and that harpy is awesome and gothic. The Chariot sort of looks weird, but then again, so did Saiou's Arcana Force version of it. That was basically a cave-painting in its card art.

I'm sure I say this every time, but these are the best covers ever!

Volume 9 looks nice, even if Pegasus does look more terrifying than I've ever seen him before. Regular Yugi looks best though, from what I can tell. And now Volume 10, that is one heck of a cover. I'm happy that Honda and Anzu managed to get onto a cover, since I doubt they'll get one for their own. Can anyone tell what Jonouchi is holding?

Fun fact: the preview pages for Volume 10 show that they have edited the name of Otogi's shop the 'Black Crown' into the 'Black Clown'. Which obviously makes more sense, given the giant clown.

Volume 10 is definitely the best one so far for me. I still can't tell what Jonouchi's reading, I guess it's not actually supposed to be anything important. I love how the Ring is the Wheel of Fortune. And is it just me, or does Anzu actually look quite Japanese on that cover?

The Volume 9 cover is pretty good, although I still hate how Magic & Wizards cards look on these things. They've lost their cork board pattern, darnit! Little Yugi looks the best on that cover, and Pegasus does look really good. It's just he also looks really, really creepy. The Hermit looks pretty good too.

I third renaming this thread.

EDIT: After seeing that Black Clown edit, it makes me wonder whether there are/will be any other edits in the reprints...

Given that there were 343 chapters and they're using Major Arcana here, would it be reasonable to assume that there'll be 22 volumes condensed, with 15 chapters each? Does someone with the manga have different numbers? Are some longer than the originals, even by a little?

Edit: Also, is it just me, or are there only bookmarks in the even-numbered volumes? Or was the same bookmark included in both 1-2, 3-4, etc.? Does it switch off between bookmarks & tarot cards, or does every volume include a tarot card, too? (I figure they all do, if they want to get through all the Major Arcana)

Looks like it. They all have different numbers of chapters. Book one has 12, book 10 has 16. But despite having more chapters, they're actually smaller size-wize than the original books.

Two of these come out once a month, and the two books that come out each get the same bookmark. Every volume has a different tarot card.

Man, Volume 11 has the best cover ever, but from that small picture, Volume 12 looks like...the worst cover ever. What a contrast. Well, hopefully 12 looks better in HQ.

That Black Magician cover is fantastic though. Today sure is a great day for Yu-Gi-Oh.

...The hanged man kinda... was unexpected. It freaked me out a bit, to tell the truth. So far, they've been rather up-beat, or downright generic. *CoughTheHierophantCough* It's very befitting, though, as the card represents a new view of life, and the changing of ways. Yaaayy, coherence!

It does look like someone forgot to fill in the detail a bit on him, but in the actual size of the volume it probably doesn't look too bad.

Eh, well, Obelisk does have the same coloring job as Kaiba's arms, but I think the problem is his one color looks bland next to Kaiba's richly colored face and coat. And it's not like he has cloth folds to shade like BMG & BM (OT: since I started working, I now think of something competely different when I see/type 'BM'). But his muscles could have been more accented, I suppose.

One of the pages from the explainations has a pic of his wrists tied up from that gang story.

Whooo-hoo! Thanks for the scans, Cindy! See what you mean about staring at Black Magician's chest... it's almost bigger than BMG's.

Hmm... was not expecting Jounouchi as the Hanged Man, but I guess it it fits. Seto as the Strength definitely fits, love the BEWD in the circles.

Jounouchi's from the duel at the docks, when Jounouchi was being controlled by the Rod. The chain attached to the handcuff goes up to the anchor.
And most telling, the Puzzle is missing the front 'eye' piece, which Jounouchi has clasped in his hand.

*facepalm* ... and I've been reading way too many detective series lately... shinjitsu wa itsumo hitotsu!

Manjyome was The Hanged Man (I tried to make an AMV, soooo I remember), and Judai was The Fool.

As for this round's Tarot...I knew Kisara would be on Strength. Seto definitely strikes me more as The Chariot, though, and...I guess I really hoped Kisara would get her own card.

Jounochi as The Hanged Man feels kinda....Random to me, but popular characters always get that card. Underdog = Sacrificial lamb? Don't know about this one.

Pretty impressive. Yugi is looking a bit...well, like Yugi looks but in real-life on Volume 13, but it's still a pretty nice cover. The Red Eyes is a cool touch. And Osiris hasn't looked that badass in years. It's scary, like he's about to eat my soul.

Oooh the chain deathmatch. Even though Yugi looks real life again it is a very awesome cover, has to be one of my favourites actually. But I could be bias in the fact I liked the duel so damn much. Thanks for the link Ryu. Also thanks to Cindy to providing us the previous scans, since I only just got round to looking at them (well the more recenty ones), but Jonouchi's Hanged Man tarot card is awesome. Simple as. I'm so glad they are doing these, considering this is like the only thing we're getting that is based on the original. I mean I don't mind GX, it's just nice for the original to get some love sometimes. I mean we have R, but that's just one thing.

Yay for Manga Reprints.

The awesomeness of the covers blocked out my thoughts when I originally posted, so I forgot to ask: how the heck are we already on the Anchor Deathmatch? Surely we've only had Volumes 11 and 12 for the Battle City preliminaries. I guess it fits...just about.

Malik hasn't had a cover yet, I'm predicting him next time. And did they get the tarot numbers mixed up? I'm no expert, but Wiki says that Strength is VIII, but here it's XI. Same with Justice, Wiki says it's XI, but in the manga reprint it's VIII. Either way, looks like it's Death and Temperance this month.

No, there are many different Tarot-Decks. Till now they follow the Rider-Waite Tarot, one of the three most influential Decks (the Thoth Deck and Marseille Deck are the other two). Strength VIII and Justice XI should be the Marseille Tarot, if I am not mistaken. But I am not an expert either.
