I'm still waiting to see the One Piece movie that aired close to a month ago. I don't think we'll be seeing it for a while, but at least we may learn more info about it after it is released.

    Actually, it's 22 days now. ;P

Dang. I am so going to party on January 23. Especially since that's a Saturday.

Does anyone actually wonder if Paradox is actually that guy's real name, though? You know, like 'Darkness' was Fubuki Tenjoin, would Paradox also hav a 'real name'?
I wonder what it could be if that were the case.

Darkness is not Fubuki Tenjoin. He takes control of people and Fubuki is one of them.

Arg. I knew I shouldn't have made that assumption.

    Well, let's see how I can rephrase this question . . .
So, if that were the case, is there a possibility the mask an entity of it's own? Because I don't think that Paradox's true name would be Paradox. I quite understand this was discussed earlier, but I'd like to discuss this as well.
I wouldn't be surprised. Paradox seems to possess a totally different 'composure' without the mask.

I'm fairly certain Paradox is just his codename, yes. He will probably tell them his name at the end.

They'll probably just call him Paradox and never bother with his real name. It probably isn't Paradox, though, because that's ridiculous.

Yeah. Darkness is a separate entity, the representation of humanity's despair.

For Paradox's name, it may or may not be a nickname. YGO does have its share of characters with meaningful/punny names, like Dinosaur Ryuzaki and Insector Haga. Although in their case, "Dinosaur" and "Insector" are nicknames. "Paradox" could be a nickname he took up, because he could have identified with his goal for whatever reason.

Or if we were to assume the mask is a separate entity, the mask could be called Paradox as well. It repesents sadness and (happiness), comedy and tragedy, black and white, (light and darkness). They are opposites of each other, and in the latter's case, existing at the same time would result in chaos. (Seesh, "Paradox" can represent a lot of things, huh?)

The only reason I'd give the "mask = entity" theory a possibility is because of the "Orders to Eliminate the Creator of Duel Monsters" tag line. Who else would give Paradox the order? He obviously can't order himself because that would look silly. Did someone order him to carry out the deed? But who? He doesn't seem like someone who would be an underling to someone. So in that case, would it have been the mask who ordered him?

The problem is, unmasked Paradox doesn't seem to differ too much from his masked counterpart, apart from the pronoun usage. However, "kimi" and "omae" are both informal (with omae being rude in certain situations only), so that kind of disproves my previous theory. Unmasked Paradox still argues with the protagonists about the future, he still claims he will curb stomp them through Duel Monsters. At most, Paradox could have his perception skewed by the mask, but still being himself. Or gave him his Sin powers.

Or if the writers are vile, expect Paradox's real name being The Unreveal. Maybe in the end when Paradox is vanishing from the changes to the future, he'll go "My name is..." but is erased before he could say it.

Perhaps not. The staff diary had written "his true identity is draped in mystery". It suggest they will go reveals his real name.

That so much reminds me of Dark Yugi's real name mystery.

    Maybe he's really a robot/Duelroid/etc...

Paradox: "My name is... My name is... My name is... My..." *head falls off*

*Yugi and Jaden are sutibly startled.*

Yuusei: *unphased; shakes his head* Another one?

    Lulz.

Maybe he'll die after having a last-second change of heart, causing the mask to take him over. Like 3 of the Dark Signers.

Just a nickname, huh? Well, I wouldn't expect Paradox to reveal his true name, but it would be nice to know that he admitted to having a real name before he assumed the nickname "Paradox"

I also think the "Orders to Kill the Creator of Duel Monsters" was also given out by the mask. I wouldn't think there'd be another 'new character' they would throw at us in this movie and I doubt any of the 'former' villains would be involved. But, is there a chance that someone quite a while back had been 'sealed' in this mask and Paradox just happened to find it in the future? Also, maybe Paradox had this ambition to go back in time and 'kill' the protagonists, and, like you said, the mask influenced this idea more into his mind, giving him the powers necessary to go back in time, take Stardust, so on and so forth.

Cassius, I doubt that would be the case. Despite 5D's proving that even the most realistic 'humans' turn out to be Riding Roids, the powers that Paradox has are beyond those of the Riding Roids. Plus, aren't the Riding Roids controlled by the Infinity Trio anyway, who have no involvement with Paradox whatsoever?

Someone sealed in a mask and possessing Paradox and endangering the entire world? What is this, a Majora's Mask crossover? :B

Let's see... Evil mask? Check. World in danger? Check. Time travel involved? Check. Corruptions occurring? Check. I mean--

On a more serious note, I do see what you mean with not introducing any new characters. Seeing more of the people from Paradox's period would be interesting, however. But I don't see who would get sealed into the mask. Most major entities during the story were dealt with by the protagonists. But yes, I don't think any former antagonist would go that far. Neither of them wanted to destroy Duel Monsters, for that matter, and I doubt any of them would be desperate to prevent their loss that way. Especially any villain using the card game as a "gateway" - they wouldn't be able to get across otherwise.

Why would Paradox want to kill the protagonists? He wouldn't gain anything from doing that. Stopping them from stopping him is something different, however.

I think Cassius was just joking around. Speaking of the Infinity Trio, I wouldn't mind seeing Paradox wreck their precious "CIRCUIIIT" by crashing right into it just as he passes through time. :V

Oh, and regarding the rooftop scene. It is definitely not post-mansion, but it is the GX period. Remember the time stamps? The rooftop scene is around the 10 minute mark, and I doubt the mansion fight would occur in the first ten minutes. That puts the mansion fight either between 0:10-0:20 (as Paradox is seen looking at the protagonists in Domino City around the 0:23 mark. It's the same scene from this video.) I mean this scene, of course:

    ...Or sometime after this scene.

If this movie is ever dubbed and if it's unfortunately by 4Kids, there's going to be a problem with the "Paradox" name. They already used that in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series dub. The twins Para and Dox during Duelist Kingdom.

so? if they get it they will definitly ruin it, plus change his name to something incredibly stupid, in the same way they changed Ruas name, and will have to change Zolas son's name if they even get that far.

Not such a big deal, I am sure 4kids could fix it. I am not even going to discuss what the dub will be like, but as with the 5Ds dub, it is going to happen, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Just let it run its course, and hope for the best.

It's not out yet. It will be released on the 20th of January.

The best thing you can do for now is listening to snippets on the jealkb website, the beginning of this Youtube video, the beginning of the Ene! broadcast, and you can hear the song somewhat in the background in the Anison Plus SP broadcast I posted recently.

Remember Paradox is from the far future. It's entirely possible the Infinity Trio don't have a monopoly on Roid Tech, so Paradox could easily be a Roid without being anything to do with them whatsoever.

Was merely throwing the idea out there, though.

The Movie Pack with Sin World and the Sin monsters was proven to be a fake. It was made up by someone on 2chan. So no (the way things stand, anyway), it's just Sin Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Sin Blue-Eyes White Dragon was already released as a Jump Promo.

On 2chan, people were discussing something along the lines of ripping the preview which takes place on the 17th. Considering what GoldenUmi said about making camrips in Japan though, I'm not sure where will that go, or if someone will really do it.

I also think we won't see such thing like camrip. They could try, though.

The only time I've ever seen a camrip of a Japanese film was for I think the 1st or 2nd Bleach movie, I want to say 2nd, and that was very hard to watch although not gonna lie, I watched the whole thing because I just had to see the film. I don't know if this has been mentioned but over at US-Konami who publish the TCG in all territories outside of Asia, there is genuine interest in bringing the movie to the masses, this was stated by one of the liaisons to the fans, Julia (that name should be familiar enough to anyone who has gone to a organized play event in the U.S.) but yeahh, I just hope if the film is released for Western audiences, the original VAs can be brought back as well.

I'm not surprised that the USA is so interested in the movie. It made a huge success in Japan even before its premiere. So obviously the chance to see an english dub is getting bigger and bigger. I'm quite interested which company will deal with the dubbing and which VAs will participate in the project.

Wait, wait wait...you saying that Konami wants to bring this movie, to the states...

If that were to happen, then you all know who will pick it up right? 4Kids! I don't know how successful this movie might of been in Japan right now, considering that it hasn't even aired yet, but god, if 4Kids were to dub this then, we're all screwed.

Because hoping that another company would dub a franchise like Yu-Gi-Oh! at this point - and for the 10th Anniversary Movie no less - is absolutely ridiculous? If it's gonna be dubbed, it's gonna be 4Kids job to mess up, no one else's.

Anyway, I know when this movie comes out, there'll probably be a bunch of Japanese blogs talking about it. We'll probably even get a complete synopsis of the entire movie. Though, I'm not sure if I really want to spoil myself reading a summary rather than seeing the actual thing...Hmm...

I've invested so much into the Japanese version it doesn't really matter much anyway. Thanks to what 4Kids did... I wish, like One Piece, it could be saved.

Same here. But, unfortunately, it seems the damage has been done, for the most part. It'd be great if FUNi could somehow pick it up, but it'd probably be a while before there's renewed interest in it. I just hope that, if and when 4Kids gets this thing to dub, since it's going to be a hopefully big-screen thing (though it's possible it could just go to DVD), they can dub it as well as they dubbed the later Pokemon movies before they lost that series, which would give us a pretty faithful script.

But anyway, I think that, like NeoKING, I'll also just want to watch the movie rather than read summaries. I mean, it isn't the same just reading about it. XD

Well, the 4Kids voice actors generally do like voicing their characters, and I'm used to their voices enough to be okay with 4Kids getting ahold of it. :/

    However, what would suck would be the edits, but if 4Kids is smart they won't edit toooo much. xD;

Even 4Kids must know that less editing = smarter choice, by now.

Dub or no dub, I'd totally pay to see it theaters, and before that (or after, depending on how long it takes to be encoded) I'd just watch the Japanese version online. Yeah, I'd be perfectly content with that, since we have verrryyy little hope of someone other than 4Kids dubbing it. & If someone besides 4Kids dubbed it.. the VA's would more than likely be different, and can you imagine the complaints that would come from that? Think about it.. >_>

People complain about the 4Kids VAs.. but they're used to them, at the same time.

    If they were to change, and given to voice actors who haven't had time to feel their character roles, the movie would end up totally destroyed.. They also wouldn't necessarily sound any closer to the Japanese VA's then the 4Kids cast, either. So, there would be complaining either way. Because fans want butter on both sides of their bread, and then they'd complain because the butter on one side has an off flavor. xD;

Well, as long as there's no official info about who will dub the movie, it's not sure that 4KID'S will do it.
Besides, 4Kids is looking to sell itself after years of unprofitability. So I still don't think and don't see any reason that 4KID'S will get to dub the movie.
And again, I don't really care actually......if that happens I'll watch the japanese dub.

    O_O, so 4kids is ending?
Not that I care, but its like "whoahh"

Also, I will watch the Japanese version even if this is dubbed with a good company, the Japanese version always is better.

Wasn't the Yugioh uncut dvds made by 4kids and Funi? I read that some where. Not sure where, but i do remember reading it. Most likely, if the movie comes to the states, it will be a straight to dvd movie, or at least it should be. The uncut episodes were good imo, so hopefully, this movie will be done like how the uncut episodes were done.
Greetings to all and have a merry duel.

Yeah, if they actually knew that less editing = better, they wouldn't be in the pickle jam they are in now.

The thing is, most of the actors on 4Kids are really talented and underused because of the poor directing. I guarantee if a better company called the same VAs together for a redub, the end result would be so much better.

I have quited my anger at 4Kids since at least some of them are smartening up and they reied to release the Japanese version and all. But until they release a proper uncut box set, the damage is still far too great for me to completely forgive them.

This was back in August, and one of the top guys of the company who used to talk talks to us told us this information was true, at least to an extent. Considering Mark went out of his way to help us without us even asking before (meaning he actually contacted us, not the other way around) and now he has disappeared for months, it leads me to believe that either

a.) he was fired and got in trouble for his contact with us (I really hope not)
b.) he was in danger of being fired for said reason and dropped contact with us
c.) 4Kids was really shut down
d.) he has just beed too busy

Either way, I find it strange that we haven't heard any update on this matter at all in almost half a year... their Youtube channel is still active, right?

Even if you prefer the Japanese, you should always give a good dubbing company a chance to prove themselves. Any good company gives both the Japanese and English track, so you can watch both at your leisure.

Unfortunately I don't watch the english dub, no matter what anime is, but Im not gonna lie you that when a dub company has a good translation and have good voices, I don't even worry to find the Japanese version.

We'll possibly have summaries of the 17 January preview, no less. A 30 minute preview, which is more than half of the movie. People will probably also make fanarts of the movie as well.

I'm not sure about avoiding summaries. I have patiently waited for Eva Rebuild and the second Gurren Lagann movie so far, but it felt disappointing to not being able to read speculation threads at Evageeks because, well, they were all labelled as "SPOILERS!". I'm not sure if I want to endure it this time around, considering how much effort I put into speculating already. XD So yes, I think I will read the summaries.

What do we do when the summaries are out, by the way? Make a separate discussion thread for those who might not want to get spoiled? (Eg. "10th Anniversary Movie Analysis/Speculation Thread") Or we stay in this thread and label all of our posts with the spoiler tag? This thread is slowly hitting the 3000 post limit (500 more to go), either way, so a new thread will have to be made for the movie in general as well.
