This is really a comic! Incredible! There is also the game section opened.

Now we know what he was really doing when he made those Zexal sketches. This just looks amazing, and it even is turned left to right like a comic book. I wonder when he'll have an English version up (since the whole site is in English). i am betting it revolves around a new game, called Advent Heros. It seems to be another card game, but I am getting this from looking at the picture alone.

Kazuki Takahashi art: Screw cell-shading, I shade like a pro with smudging.

It looks much better that way.

EDIT: It seems to be able to be played with normal playing cards. I gotta say, creating your own complex game using playing cards seems pretty hard. But it makes it much easier to learn, everyone has a deck of playing cards.

At least now Kaz fulfilled his dream related to his love of American comics. The art definitely is incredible.

I'm such a kid; I ended up just running my cursor over the buttons to hear the clicky sounds.

The art on the site is absolutely fantastic though.

If only the world series of poker was THIS interesting instead of relying of Jennifer Tilly's massive cougar cleavage for ratings. Also, Allana, your Carly pic, best, o-face, ever....

So this is basicly a game one can play if he has a pack of poker cards then? Hopefully some english rules will show up at some point, looks like it could be fun to play.

This makes me wonder, what type of card game could he come up with all on his own. Remember, Duel Monsters (aka YUIGIOH) was a mutation of his original plans at it progressed. But what if he made a card game specifically for the market, like how most machines do it now (specifically the new Vangaurd anime). The card game comes first, allowing for 100% uniformity in the rules. I doubt Kaz will have another chance at anime, or even manga, but I will watch whatever he makes, and hopes he could do something to that effect, card game first. I think it is very cool he made a game using a standard deck of cards though, as they are very easy to buy, say 5 bucks for HQ cards.

An entry about Advent Heroes.

The gist of what I'm getting is that:
- He's beat from the summer heat of Tokyo
- He's excited about Advent Heroes.
- He feels because it uses Playing Cards, it's much more Eco Friendly, than say, Yu-Gi-Oh!
- I believe he mentions this is one of his first major forays into American Comic Style.
- He really enjoyed playing the game with his staff, and mentions it's a very experimental work.

It's been a long time since we've seen Takahashi's earlier sleazy comic book art style -- not since the original manga, and even then mostly in the first seven volumes. I welcome it back, especially in the face of the clean and cartoony Zexal. As for the Advent Heroes game, a complex battle game for the YGO crowd featuring regular playing cards is a really neat idea.

I kinda wanna find time to translate this and will.

Page 1:

Our story takes place in a certain comic book shop: Heroes Avenue. A small shop located in a one-floor brick building on the back alleys of the streets.

Page 2:

On the interior, a cafe-style counter sits with the free space around it being completely occupied with comic figurines and merchandise. Today is like any other, with comic buffs from around the country collected together having heated discussions about comic news and stories.

A particularly popular item they have in stock is the comic tie-in product, Advent Heroes. And, inside, the playing cards with the Advent Heroes characters on them are a sort of "entrance permit" that every patron has.

The manager, Tim Meyers, has a background as a comic author, and all of his patrons know about Advent Heroes, his one and only hit series. He has remained out of the limelight afterwards and opened a cafe dealing in his hobby, comic books, six years ago, now retired from comic writing.

The still-adament fans of Advent Heroes continue to frequent Heroes Avenue even eleven years since its end with unquestioning faith in the strength of their eternally unchanging heroes.
