May be we should get a translation of this one. It's a little bit too long than usual. Does Kaz make a request for fans to draw monsters for ZeXal? Yeah....definitely need a translation.

Today, an entry talking of GX! ^^ (When an entry about DM?)

    Link here: http://www.studio-dice.com/dice/mypage/144-gx.html

For the translation, see Horoko's post just under my post. Thanks a lot!

I wish good luck to Kageyama to his next project!

The other day, I attended the party commemorating the end of the serial run of Kageyama-kun's GX manga. He did great work on its long spanning run of five years and three months in V-Jump. The Yugi staff came in full force which got me more excited than I've been in a while. I also got the GX and ZeXal graphic novels!

The truth is that Kageyama-kun and Miyoshi-kun have been friends for the past twenty years. When I first heard that in my meetings with Kageyama-kun before he served as my assistant I was sure taken for a surprise!

When I was still working on the series, Miyoshi-kun had been hoping to serve as one of the Dice assistants only to be cut out of the running when I became steady on manpower; it was something I quite regretted! However, seeing as how Miyoshi-kun is currently drawing the ZeXal manga, human bonds sure are mysterious things.

Kageyama-kun has been quickly engrossed in his next project, so I'm waiting in anticipation for it! Seeing Kageyamacchi and Itoucchi leave the Dice nest and working on their projects truly fills me with joy! (Kazuki)

Thanks for informing and translating, Allana and Horoko.
In his last sentence Kazuki sounds like a mother bird who is proud when her children leave the nest. x) It's nice to read this actually.
Looking forward to seeing Kageyama's project.

There is a new entry since yesterday. But I don't know what he say, even the machine is too inaccurate.

    My Treasure!

The renewal to the HP is coming to ahead, little by little.

The new work I'll soon be showcasing may be called the final form of my manga. No, I suppose it's so realistic that it's no longer manga. It's like American Comics! Shoot for BD!

Whether it was because my parents ran a painting business, but even when drawing a picture, I can't rest easy until I color it--I might have that embedded in my DNA.

The artists I respect are Drew Struzan, Adam Hughes, John Van Fleet and Mike Mignola~!

Among them, I've been a huge fan of Drew Struzan for a long time and I've frantically collected the movie posters he's drawn, like Star Wars! And when an exhibit of his work came to Japan, I went to go see it without fail and got an autograph!

One day, an opprotunity just like out of a dream arose and I had Drew himself draw something from Yu-Gi-Oh! Due to an agreement, I can't publically show it, but to sum it up: it's too amazing for words! Since it's my number one treasure, it's secludedly hanging in a secret location.

It's so much more cooler than any rendition of Yugi I've drawn that I can't stand it! What a shock! It was around then that I was informed of the Bunkobans and I challenged myself to try to draw the covers for them in my own style. Even so, I still don't hold even a candle to him...!

However, I used that as the jumping point to find a new direction for my art, enjoying drawing above everything else.

Japan is in dire straits as of now, but the personal theme of my work is "revival." It may take a little more time, but please look forward for it! (Kazuki)
    --------
On a personal note: Wow, I can't believe that he's a big fan of Drew Struzan too.

I want to see the movie poster guy's Yugi. XD

Just to remind you, this is drawn by Drew.

He should just move to America though, where it is the norm to make comic books in full color. Has he seen Kick Ass? The coloring in that comic book is amazing.

    Thank you very much Horoko!

So, Takahashi makes a new work which is like an American Comic. I'm curious to see that! Perhaps he will say more soon about this work.

Oooh, this drawing must be pretty awesome! Especially when you see his previous works. I didn't know he had drew Star Wars's poster! Thanks for posting the example Cohen.

If anyone is interested, here Drew Struzan's website: http://www.drewstruzan.com/ (Click on Illustrated works, studio works) ^^

It was about time for Kaz to make an update. I have to say the ZeXAL sketches look ok I guess. He has quite an imagination for Tokunosuke's outfit. Even Astral looks somehow creepy looking. Plus, grandma Haru looks very bizarre with a set of D-Gazer and D-Pad. xD

And the entire update of his website as a whole looks pretty good. The sketchbooks load pretty fast. Although, as far as I see, the pics in the gallery can no longer be zoomed. Good at least that I merged some before the change. xD

It seems that not only the ZeXal sketch area is updated.
*Ooooooh.....hello again Egyptian Gods! How much I missed you! Come to me. x)*

And by the looks of it, Kaz's new story which he was talking about will be called Advent Heroes Fundamental. There's also a game called the same way. Huh...interesting.

Aaaand, it seems that the designs for the BEWD and REBD sculptures were both his creation.

    Not to mention.

    http://studio-dice.com/#/yugioh

    That's one Awesome YGO! logo.

The official Dub logo should have been like that.

Daaamn these Sangenshin sketches are EPIC.

Specially the new poses for Osiris and Obelisk. Specially the Tormentor looks soo DAAMN Armoured. Exactly the thing what I so like about his looks, A F!ing BOSS.
Thats what he is. And I like the pose of Osiris this way he looks a A LOT MORE of a dragon the way his body is curved and drawn. You know, like these many pics of Chinese dragons.

Also just to throw that out when I saw the sketches used for the BEWD and REBD's figures.

These new sketches of the gods also look good enough for making figures based on them X).
I HOPE there is such an idea in the works somewhere in Konami.

As for the logo. Yeah its like the old one but I like the darker colours X). Which make it look cooler.

To be honest, I'm still a little bit surprised that Kaz has chosen to use the english version of the logo. Still, yeah, it definitely looks a little bit better with this kind of dark colors and shades. But I'm still more keen on the original japanese one. xD

The fangirl in me just screamed by seeing those of the Egyptian Gods. And my heart totally melted. xD I'm glad Kaz still makes DM sketches. How I wish to see these colored and in full-size. x)
And to be honest once again, something in their poses so much suggest that they might just have the chance to be made as figures. x)

^ yeah Sangenshin figures. I have the same feeling.

I really want to see that new Obelisk in his new pose in bigger size.
I like to see his face a bit better. He always has this bizarre-scary smile which I find it more of sadistic nature of him considering how powerful he is. Its give him a bit character and that I find awesome.

As for the GALLEY part of the site.

Well I was waiting for so long on something new and official on Horakhty.

And this new art by Kaz himself on her is the perfect cure for the itch.

She surpasses even the coolness of the gods here. Well SHE IS their fusion(kinda) XD. So Epic and Cool X 3. No surprise there.
She did deserve a lot more than what the anime gave her.
But no matter what, the YGO! animes never did respect females much no matter characters, monsters or gods.

Its just that. I'm greedy and want it WITHOUT that site long slapped in the middle of her pic(under it is ok X)) and in the biggest resolution(without loosing sharpness and detail). But that's just me X)... or not.

Well the rest of the new pics in that part of Kaz's site.
even if now they cannot be zoomed in. We do have most of them thanks to the bunkobans.
Its just that little Yugi and Gandora I'm also greedy for X).

I also found me an avatar worthy pic in the DM sketches album X).

Have to admit Horakhty looks just EPIC. A MAGNIFICENT EGYPTIAN GODDESS in the full meaning of the word. x) Even with that logo on her, she's still epic enough for Kaz not to place her in the CARD area (where all pics have that logo on them) I'm so very irritated the pics can no longer be zoomed so I can merge her. (I guess Kaz knew of my greedy evil plan xD) As for Yugi&Gandora pic - well, I'm irritated for it too, but at least we have some MQ large version of it thanks to....to ughhhh.....2chan?....or was it someone else.....well, anyway. At least we have something.

Whoa, Astral looks vicious in his drawings ...

Grandma Haru has a deck? Nice!! Not that it matters much since I'm sure Yuuma will be in 98% of the duels.

I keep seeing Shark with his huge *** pendant but it hasn't appeared in the anime once! Maybe I'll be waiting a while ...

Akari with Yuuma in a headlock was cute though, lol.

Wow, what an awesome update. The Sangenshin look BOSS. I really hope that the artwork he's done for Osiris hints at an upcoming OCG/TCG release of the final playable Egyptian God card. That artwork would be perfect.

Horakhty looks amazing. That's just....wow. Very fitting as the ultimate fusion of the Sangenshin. I almost wish that were a playable card, so we could have that artwork without that logo.

...And I will say that some of the Zexal sketches actually looked good. The artwork belies the actual quality of the series.

I really hated when Osiris was ignored like this and didn't get his own original artwork. I just love this giant, red, curved beast so damn much. xD

The funny thing is that all characters look eXtremely short. For example Yuma's head plots on his body only 4 times, when the normal should be at least 6. It's strangely hilarious to watch actually.

I'm glad someone said something about how most of the ZeXal pics look rushed and out of proportion lol. There's a handful of cute ones (the Akari and Yuma sketch) but most of them seem very... phoned in honestly compared to Takahashi's norm lol. They either have no neck or giraffe necks and Cathy looks like some kind of fiendish mutant.

It honestly doesn't really look like he was terribly into doing them compared to his sketches for DM, 5D's, and to a smaller extent GX which had rough sketches but more proportionate. The new DM artwork is lovely though.

Kazuki's art never ceases to amaze me.

    Horakhty looks absolutely amazing.

God I want to save that image so bad.

The first pic with Atem and Osiris looks awesome as well. That's a killer pose they're striking there.

Wow. Just wow. That is hands down the best drawing of Obelisk I have ever seen. That intimidating upwards pose gives off the perfect combination of fear and power. I mean, damn that looks vicious. Osiris' new drawing is gorgeous as well. The thick outline really makes it pop. Horakty is just jaw-dropping. Simple as that. Man, looking at these new sketches makes me wonder what the manga would look like if it was drawn with the skills Takahashi has now.

The new Zexal section was also fun to look at. I agree that many of the sketches seemed short and a little out of proportion. Looking forward to this new project of his.

It's so obvious, especially compared with the sketches of DM, GX and 5D'S as you said. Astral seems like the only character who looks more proportionate, since his head plots on his body 5 or 6 times. But I guess that's normal since when Kaz had drawn the blue alien more than year and a half ago (probably just for the pleasure of drawing in the free time), he didn't suppose he'll have to make a bunch of other characters for entire new anime series.
Noone draws cool things when they don't have an inspiration.

It's good at least that he's still drawing old DM related stuff for the desperate and nostalgic DM fans. But that only raises the question when this too will stop since even Kaz feels the need to work on new projects of his own as an artist. That is what saddens me even more.
But still, the light of hope for DM still shines...............

Lol, thanks. I had just found out by trying to read one of Studio Dice's tweets. It said something about GX so I wanted to see what it said haha.

I wish he would show us the 5 different concept sketches of Wildman. (Yes, there are about 5 of them floating around Yahoo Auctions and the ilk.)

The Zexal sketchbook had been udpated with Kaito, Haruto and the Dr Faker.

    Thanks for the info, Allana.
Unlike the rest of the character sketches, these new ones look decently well. Although they're once again disproportionate. Somehow Dr. Faker looks quite differently compared in the anime. He looks me older.......or.........don't know. Anyway.
I think Cat-chan's pics are the worst looking. She looks not so like a cat, but like an owl in the face.

Eh, it really looks like he's not giving a crap about these Zexal sketches. Kaito looks really....rushed. As does Dr. Faker. Haruto's decent, I guess.

But yeah, it looks like he just churned those out and got back to watching tv.

Now that I look at them, Dr. Faker is the most proportionate out of all the rest. The second place is for Astral. I don't count Haruto in this, since his design is similar to the one of the twins.

Just went through the entire sketchbook again today. That's weird but cool to see design sketches of Amon (who by Kazuki's description of him being 'lightly dark skinned,' seems to suggest he was white-washed in the anime. Seems like he was designed with the intent of being more Indian.) and Kenzan (who really didn't change) in the GX folder, also, lol "Bad Guy Johan." I'm getting such a kick out of his descriptions. And Kiryu as "Dark Signer Hottie" brb loling forever~

You know, if you go from DM to GX to 5Ds to Zexal and maybe back to DM (since more of those sketches are new) you can really see this bizarre change in Takahashi's style… He has this almost 'real-esque' style going on in DM, then gets kinda wacky and cartoony in GX, then gets really light lined and almost Clamp-esque for 5Ds, and then becomes cartoony again for Zexal, but more in a Inazuma Eleven/Coro Coro manner, with the sharp thick lines… Very interesting.

Also, that early Cat-chan settei is going to give me nightmares…. omg… (Although I am almost amused at her missing her front teeth, but that's no where near the proper look for a love rival of the heroine… ^^ Takahasi, what were you thinking…!) I do think his sketch mentions though that she was to grow prettier, maybe over the course of the story, but her initial title is "Creepy Character." orz

And Tokonosuke is called "Eccentric Celeb Boy" … you don't think he was original slated to be "Robin" do you…?!?

I feel like Haruto and Astral weren't meant to be in a Yugioh series. I remember how he said Astral was drawn way before Zexal, perhaps Haruto was the same way. Maybe even Doctor Faker.

    Wow, that is HILARIOUS XDDD

Natsuari, could you please give some other titles he gave the characters in terms of their looks and everything in his sketchbook? Pleeeease? That's really interesting!

    "Dark Signer Hottie." LOLOL

May be he had been thinking about featuring them in some fan-made and space/universe themed cartoon (comics) of his. But had to transfer that plot idea and respectively the characters in ZeXal.

Bloody hell, Cathy got a rough deal from Takahashi. She looks creepier than Haruto and that's saying something Even Kaito doesn't look quite right, he's got a bit of a lollipop head going on.

I'm not that impressed by these I'm afraid Shame!
