Well, since I have been watching this thread for some time in 2 months, I might as well give my opinions here as well.

From the posts and updates that I read in this thread, this one really got me interested on knowing this info and thus here are a few expectations on this new and maybe epic movie.

Animated movies usually don't follow a current plot of a series and goes on a story of its own really. Same characters but different conditions and new environments to explore. And since the movies do intend to go for special effects, a good plot must be understandable by an ordinary watcher to pick up on details even in fast paced action or fight scenes.

Most of us enjoy exciting real-life action movies all over the world and still be awed by many special effects and quick storytelling. Movie critics however, may have different tastes and could explain on what works and what didn't work on some movies. I saw some intelligent discussions that came about on this forum and this one is truly being watched on for our expectations.

The first thing I would say here is how the movie plot came out and it is not as extraordinary as many movie plots come from the supernatural. Time Travel is common amongst many movies in the past and this kind is no different from the others. But I could point out the cards and unusual characters as major differences as compare to other fight movies with explosions, martial arts and all that gizmos. Since the monster cards would do the fighting, it's still quite understandable for any watcher to consider it a very long fight scene, nonetheless.

Though the villain Paradox is the time traveler and Stardust Dragon card to a supposed time machine ingredient that Yusei chases and takes the time traveling wagon to the past to stop Paradox from changing what was already there. Time Travel movies often involves heroes to travel from past to future via a strange device or magic ect. This type is not common as the villain is the one taking action to change something so as that prediction will never happen in the future.

When I first join this forum 3 years ago, I thought and wrote a comedy original time traveling fanfic("Timescape Hysteria") which involves five ordinary people to stop a rampaging time machine in which some mysterious villain stole from a research facility and now even the villain can not even control the TM due to having a mind of its own. This mad TM is tossing random people to different timelines and places whenever if feels like it. Many innocent ones would be baffled on culture shocks and language barriers upon meeting ancient and classical people from the past. The five chosen however, after a few time flings here and there were able to read the TM's mind and that they must collect 12 parts to destroy the TM. The villain then proceeds to change history by re-writing many of its events from ancient times to periods of conflict and war. The five must be careful on maintaining and fixing events for their mistake may change anyone's future in another country. They will meet allies and unfamilliar guests that they need to talk with respect and courtesy.

I was shocked that this movie happened to follow a similar plot as mine, and I quite like it.

I have a question about the 3D. Maybe It's stupid but I know nothing about it. Why uses glasses for see a movie in 3D ? When the movie will be in DVD, the 3D will be identical, the glasses are also necessary ?

    Yeah the glasses are necessary because the movie will be shown at 3 in once with the colors red and blue so with a glasses that has one lense red and the other blue, it'll blend the 3 shots together and create a three-dimensional picture. So when they say 3-D, they don't mean CGI where it has third-dimensional imagery like they use in 5D's anime. Most likely in the DVD, it will have about 2 to 4 pairs of the glasses, enough for a usual family or group of friends to watch. And I'm sure it'll have the option of with 3-D or without. Okay, my explaination on the 3-D thing is kinda crude so if anyone doesn't mind putting to other words? ^_^;;

So, I'm guessing we'll see fabulous hands, card draws at the direction of the screen, and monsters and their attacks in 3-D..Almost as if you can touch their cards! 8D

Well "Ice age" is also 3D movie, but you watch the DVD without glasses.
The glasses aren't necessary. Besides, not entire YGO 10TH ANNIVERSARY MOVIE will be 3D.
Anyway, I don't know so much for the 3D glasses. Kyte explained it better. XD
For the 3D glasses I know only that they can make the picture much more closer, as you can touch it. But you don't need them when you watch the 3D movie on DVD, so again - glasses aren't necessary.

I think you're getting 3D and CGI confused. When they say a movie is 3D, that means it's being projected in the manner that Kyte described. That way it looks like some of the images are coming off the screen; think like the shows at Disneyland and Universal where they give you the glasses before you go in.

If a movie is made to look like it's 3D, like with the Ice Age movies, or anything by Pixar, that's CGI. The images are made on a computer, hence "Computer generated images," although some people refer to is as 3D-animated.

Still, there's a difference between 3D movies and 3D-animated. The Yugioh movie is going to be shown in 3D, but sometimes monsters like Stardust Dragon are CGI.

When you get the DVD of a movie that was shown in 3D, they usually come with the glasses, so you have the option of watching it in 3D, or watching it in a regular format. So no, the glasses aren't necessary so long as you watch it in a theater that isn't showing it in 3D (in which case they'd project it normally, and not with the two colors projected at once) or on the DVD when it's set for a regular format.

    Does that answer any questions?

EDIT: I should also mention that the two aren't mutually exclusive. Movies can be CGI and still projected in 3D. For example, the 3D Shrek film shown at Universal Studios, or Monsters vs Aliens. Assuming they use CGI in this movie as much as they do in 5D's, we will be seeing some CGI monsters that are projected in 3D.

Except they don't hit you thus toss you half across the street-- or, well, the theater. *brick'd*

I have been wondering about the 3D thing myself, not having seen a 3D film before. Thanks for the explanations guys! :]

On a lil side note, the pages for the Anniversary Movie and Paradox are up on the Janime Wiki now!

    Really? You're missing out!

I've never seen a full length 3D film yet (I'm blind in my left eye, which messes up the effect some what so I couldn't stand a long one) but the ones at theme parks were always cool. Especially the ones where they incoporated the seats, water sprays, ect. into the film.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Let's be fortunate it isn't under Lucas Films. Otherwise, that THX intro will blow us away in 3-D AND high surround sound @_@

Though I wonder, how does 3-D and Blu-Ray work together? I'd imagine VERY good quality even in 3-D

They did a good job explaining it, but I just wanted to add that some 3D movies may make it so things seem to pop out at you. For example when Yusei uses Stardust to attack, through the glasses it may make it seem like the beam is coming through the screen towards you. I've never seen one myself but I've heard about it. It's damn awesome if you ask me.

I've never bought a 3D movie, but it would be freaking awesome if the DVD comes with the glasses as I do plan on purchasing it. : O

ANd that will be one very possible way to make duel disks that work similarly to the anime XD or some more common technology for us(video consoles).
I'm really joking here so don't take me seriously.

Its kinda strange that by now there are no real 3-D games. Or am I mistaken or its simply not possible.

You also have to note the precision and "clarity-of-design" on each of their duel disks. Kagami always did a fabulous job on them in the various episodes of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series; they actually were drawn like they could very well be made in real life. 8)

That's basically one department Kagami does 'better' in than even Hara, IMO. Then again, Hara is constantly improving his style, especially when it comes down to things like facial expressions and machinery (points to Episodes 57 and 72 of 5D's); again, IMO. ;D

Yup I noticed that the duel disks are very-well drawn and looked realistic in detail.

I like the director on how he draws their hands with emphasis such as "hand close-ups", card-handling and different hand gestures for each duelist on camera views.

I can't recall of any 3d video games myself either but I'm really thinking there has to have been back in the 8bit 16bit era. If there really hasn't ever been then maybe it's because 3d glasses + TV screen = blindness

Heck, even when the characters draw, the card realistically bends a bit. I honestly haven't seen that done in other animations of the series. Even with Death Note, he was able to draw the characters straight out of the manga, that's what makes the style so good.

Besides Kagami you all know Hara Kenichi who is a favorite to work on 5D's animation. Here is his work with the battle phases.

And a video which showcases his work in DM and others.

Well, there's still time until Wednesday, when they will probably update the diary again. I believe the above posters were just discussing Kagami's animaton, who is also known for drawing FABULOUS hands, so...

I'm wondering if they do update this Wednesday, will it include anything (eg. comments) from Atsushi Tamura's part? He's the only one we haven't heard from so far. It would be neat if he introduced Paradox to us or talked about his role for a bit.

The last 2 pics were with Kenn & Yuuya, so the next have to include Kazama & Tamura.
May be an interview with Tamura about him voicing Paradox won't be bad.

I think so too, I like this animator, I think he did about 19 or 20 YGO DM episodes (some are my personal favorites like ep.140 - Yugi vs. Marik and ep.177 - Yugi & Kaiba vs. Dartz).

Just thought I'd share this. It appears to be a test page for the diary itself. (The actual link is http://www.yugioh10th.com/diary/) There's no Archive, the image for the movie poster is broken, and the title is, well... "Title" (タイトル) over and over again. It says [Name] in the brackets.

There are two entries (Dated 1st and 4th of October - the first "proper" entry was posted on the 5th), but the contents are the same for both of them. The contents talk about the commemoration of the three protagonists and that the three of them face against Paradox, a formidable opponent who traverses time and space. They also ask everyone to wait for other announcements such as the contents of the movie and the staff list.

The second paragraph mentions that they decided to release the movie in early Spring, 2010. The movie will be available in various places nationwide.

As you can see, nothing special, but interesting nonetheless.

As I think of this, will this movie air in cinemas that are in Japanese communities in the US? Sometimes they do on new ones and if so, there's a community called Little Tokyo, and there is a theater there. If released there then I'll definitely go and watch XD

    http://www.yugioh10th.com/diary/index.html Diary updated, November 17.

They are talking about Atsushi Tamura's post recording interview, how he came to the recording despite having a busy schedule. It says something about Paradox and nihility (...nihility. *GLEE!*) They will explain in detail(?) and it is endured with a jerk(? Aha, what.) They also ask us to look forward to Paradox's act in the movie. Apparently Paradox's monster is introduced with tomorrow's 5D's episode (Eyecatch? Opening?) at six o' clock (in the evening I assume, since they mention 5D's).

That sounds wicked, I'm curious to see what he uses. (I want to see Lavos or Leliel :V)

Cool, I'll definitely watch Episode 85 (I think that was the next episode xD)
We'll finally see Paradox (and probably his monsters xD) in details.

Ooooh, awesome!! So probably instead of the Yami/ Judai, and Yusei clips they show before every ep, this one'll have Paradox's showcase? Sounds very awesome! I can't help but think Light & Darkness deck which could set up for him using the Chaos monsters. But I'm sure his deck will be different than what's seen before.

Now when I think of it, I suppose that one of the monsters that will be shown along with Paradox, would probably be Dark Stardust Dragon (you know...the evil Stardust xD).

agree with you, I had that feeling after reading the last diary entry, when they tell that something happens to Yugi, that they are showing us too much spoilers.

FFFFFF the new V-Jump is out already?! Earlier than I expected...

So that's what he looks like unmasked! I like that, actually, although I wanted it to be a twist. Aw. Why does he remind me of Pegasus... *shot* That red thing on his face is interesting. It matches the stripes on the black half of his mask... it also looks like his eyebrow. :B

I'm starting to really wonder if that purple thing on his head is his hair. I still like to think it's more like a crown-like thing he wears on his head.

And Atsushi Tamura!~ I want that picture in a bigger size!

I'm going to spend the evening trying to solve that scan now.

They're getting everyone to watch that crappy time filler that airs this week so we an see his monsters. D: (I would have watched it anyway but still...)

But hey, it gives us something to look forward to at least.

Anyway, his face disproves the Yugi theory we argued about before, lol. He looks pretty cool though.

    HOLY CRAP! O.O

Its Jack fused with Fujiwara Yusuke! XD lol -shot-

But still, thats the main baddy unmasked huh? I gotta say, despite the red scar/eye brawl thing on his right side, he looks to be a cool badass villain for the film! I can't wait to what hes going to dish out going up against the 3 strongest Duelists of the past, present and future.

Man I'm so pumped for this anime movie! Just like for One Piece Strong World!
but still... I wish I was in japan to see them in the theaters!
    DAMNIT! LOL

    So Paradox is unmasked, eh?

There's...strangely little to say about that. He looks fine. I guess there's not supposed to be a secret plot about his identity then. The mask was just screwing with us.

I agree, they shouldn't have shown us his face yet... I like a little mystery, but then again showing his face doesn't give away the plot of the movie, so it's all good.

I had wrong. But I like to create theories !

Seriously, Paradox's face reminds me Dartz for the eyes. He bears something near to the left eye. It reminds me criminal mark.
