There is a new voice, I would hate that. The other one did a nice job. I would have to hear the DT one for a better idea though.

I guess either time travel or your method would work. Maybe somehow they meet in their current 5D's time forms, but enter a dimension where they return to their "prime" state and Atem's soul is temporarily called back to Yugi. Cheesy, but it would work.

About Yugi, I always use the english name. Yuugi sounds tooooo slooow and monotonous.

Okay, I was a bit too harsh in my previous post to the VA. His voice isn't BAD, it's just a huge stretch from what we're used to. Looking at series 1 Yugi even, while series 2 Yugi differs alot from her as well, at least both voices suited him. To me, this new voice doesn't suit him at all... Though it's not like I'll automatically hate the OVA if he is in it. He may surprise us.

I heard two reasons behind this: that his original voice had cancer and another person said his office doesn't allow it. I wonder which is true...

Every other time the Japanese have written his name in English it's always been 'Yugi Mutou'. Dunno why they dropped the last 'u' this time.

It's more the principle of the thing. Giving Yugi another voice would kinda be like The Simpsons giving Homer a new voice. In Yugioh terms, anyway. I'm sure that if they can get his old seiyuu, they will.

Granted, I don't think the voice is as bad as I remember it, it just seems weird to hear it.
I felt the same when the Pokemon dub VAs were changed.
Plus there's a chance Yugi's DT VA (if they had to use him) improved over time.

If 4kids airs it as a movie (seeing how that scan refers to the whole thing as a movie), I don't think much would be edited.
In that PoL movie, 4kids kept the original card designs, and that one scene where YYugi was stabbed by Peten. Sure it was a silhouette with no blood, but that's something 4kids would have edited regardless.

Yeah, lol I was way over-exaggerating that. His voice is not bad at all, but it just doesn't fit him to me. But as I said above, if the voice is used, it's used. Sure, I'll be disappointed, but it's not the end of the world, and nothing to judge the OVA over. We can only hope he improves if he is used.

Agreed, I like this idea. For both former DM and GX characters, it would be great to see what they are currently doing in the world and if they met their dreams (For example, Anzu dancing, Manjoume and Sho for the Pro League and Asuka as a teacher)

At least that VA sound too much closer to the original than the Dark Yugi one.

Jonouchi's voice actor in the Duel Terminal was Hiroki Takahashi, just like in the anime.

According to some unofficial sources, circumstances around Yugi's voice being different in the Duel Terminals are attributed to Shunsuke Kazama being busy at the time.

They don't really do a lot of crossovers at Jump Festa.

I'm just scared this will end up like last years OVA. That was crap. It was just Yusei vs. Jack on 2-player mode.

I thought the alternate Yusei vs. JACK episode was cool. OVAs are usually out-of-place episodes that don't fit anywhere into the actual story, so you really shouldn't have expected it too in the first place.

Just because some thing does eventually happen doesn't retroactively make your original topics any less uninformed or unjustified at the time.

Moving on from that, though, and on another topic. I'm glad they're using the older Judai, but I'm kind of sad about one thing. I know he's iconic and all, but isn't it kind of unfair to Yugi that Atem/Dark Magician are the representative lead of DM forever when the whole point of DM's ending was that Yugi overtook him as a stronger/better duelist? It's alittle sad we take Judai's canon from the end of his show but Yugi never gets to be the stand-alone hero with the cool Silent/Gadget deck because Atem is some kind of zombie forever frozen in time to steal the spotlight even post-series.
