I went to the event today.I watched the sneak preview 6 times. The sneak preview was only 7 minutes. It showed some scenes.

It showed paradox stealing stardust from yusei. It showed yusei summoning junk gardna.Yugi gets surprised and jaden says that it was a cool move.Yusei then sets 2 cards face down.It then showed jaden summoning neos knight.Jaden destroys paradox's 2 monsters with neos knight. It then showed yugi summoning dark magician and dark magician girl.Yugi then activated a spell card that boosted dark magician's attack to 4500.Dark Magician destroyed malefic paradox dragon.

That's all it showed but they said the movie is going to be released at march 2011.The soundtrack was awesome also.I weared my 3d glasses and enjoyed it.After watching the sneak preview 6 times, greg abbey appeared and he was talking just like yusei!

People were asking greg abbey questions.Greg abbey said that 4kids is on the crashtown arc. They have dubbed about 20 episodes of the second season pf 5ds.

    That was awesome.

EDIT: So they are doing Crashtown then. I guess they will go the route Funimation did with DBZ Kai and the farmers gun. 20 of 50 isn't so bad for now. Will last at least 15 weeks once new episodes start.

    Was this preview in English?

Crashtown actually starts at 86 and runs through 90. So yeah, a bit over 20 episodes. Dub discussion I will place in the right section

All right, time for feedback on WC2010!

Now, getting there the championship seemed small but apparently its because another event is taking place downstairs of the con center so its understandable. Once I got my badge, I immediately ran to the movie showing.

As stated as superwarrior, the preview was 20 minutes and in Japanese but had a narrator ing English which sounded like Greg. They showed Paradox's appearance up to after taking Stardust. Its in subtitles, and they use dub terms such as Turbo Duel and all. They kind of translated the Synchro Summon chant differently. "Together, the wishes combine for a shining star. Become the path's light! Synchro Summon! Take flight, Stardust Dragon!" Then showed like one of the first trailers we have seen of the movie with text. Then they showed a turn of Yusei, Judai, and Yugi. Yusei's turn was using Yusei theme 1 I think. Basically using Reincarnation of Hope to summoning. Next showed Judai's turn, which is the same as we have seen in the special OPs and EDs and taking down Sin Cyber End and Sin Rainbow Dragon. Next, Yugi, which was SO nostalgic! And to me it sounded like 'Passionate Duelists' rather than GX's Excited Duelists. It was entertaining as people cheered for their favorite duelist's move (especially Yami no Yugi's). Had all the same music including the main theme of the movie. At the end as they showed cards, they showed the card arts of the new cards like neos Spiral and Black Magic Spiral. Almost similar art. Stardust Mirage had an image of Stardust Dragon in some crystal form. They didn't show much at all on Paradox (yes his name seems to be kept) nor images of his cards.

Now as for the 3D effect................Amazing. Seriously, its gorgeous, you can see that nothing even in background is like flat or appears to be clomped together with others. Nope, whole thing was seperate in its own layer and not just on background either but the character. Its like the 3D effect gave them dimensions. Its really amazing especially with the duel since of Sin World as I suspected. So it seems to be in March of 2011 as from another I heard April.

I came kinda late to Greg Abbey's Q&A. Didn't get to hear about how the dub is doing on the new season. I must've missed quite the bit of it. But was able to get some recorded though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek8n3ZoX7ik

Here are the pictures of the WC. Now, i was going in cosplay of Yusei but the wig kinda messed up due to the wind blowing from the window and I didn't even realize itso left that, knee pads, gloves, and jacket back in the car. Could've taken pics..with D-Wheel..and..Stardust T_T (my gawd they were gorgeous)

What does the artwork of Black Spiral and Neos Spiral look like? Are the cards in English?

Hmmm...so basically the only new footage that was shown was Paradox's appearance, and the characters about go to into the final turn for game. Interesting.

Thanks so much for this information! I do hope the music is kept in tact, and while we may not have subtitles, it is good the music and possible cards are intact.

Let's see, Black Spiral looked like Black Magician with his staff slightly point outward with a black-purple energy and yellow-greenish spiraling energy around him. As for Neos, he was in a stance where his punch is pulled back, like ready to punch, and has the same spiraling energy around him but I think was in a different color. Stardust mirage's exact artwork looked like crystalalic prisms around and Stardust is in the middle one, glowing, curled in a ball. And the cards were all in Japanese.

Well that and Yusei's first turn since we never saw the animation of him summoning Junk Gardna and all. Reincarnation of Hope kinda looked similar to Shrink's artwork but in different colors and of course not in exact way of the art. Couldn't sit close enough =/ Didn't show at all of Paradox's turns. Black Magician and Black Magician Girl's attack was really cool, it was like a beam going down from an angle, right through Paradox Dragon's head and body.

No prob, wish I was able to get footage even for a bit, though..

Ooooh! Awesome! Thank you so much for this info. I doubt the cards will remain in Japanese. They'll be in English I bet. What awesome artwork.

I'm glad they didn't spoil Paradox's turns. Those should be kept new. And wow..that sounds very cool. Yay, Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl!

No prob, wish I was able to get footage even for a bit, though..
They wouldn't let you record, huh?

Did wish the artwork on the cards looked more...Official looking? Like from POL's on new cards or anime cards looking more realistic.

Yeah, only lines of his heard was how the future was destroyed and he'll do whatever it takes to save the disastered world. But man, did miss that bit of violence from DM, I mean a beam through the top of P Dragon's head that goes through its bottom jaw then into its body. Yeouch but awesome!

Well, couldn't ask. There were plenty of officials in the room and figured if I asked, they'd immediately figure I'd have a camera to record it and would kick me out lol couldn't find a blindspot

I seriously can't wait to see this duel. This sounds like something truly epic. God, I wish I could see this preview, or at least the cards.

Thank you very much for the information, Kyte!

It's alright that you couldn't record, especially in a place like that. That does sound incredibly awesome. So the 3D was very well done as well? That's good to hear! And if Passionate Duelists indeed plays instead of GX's version during Yugi's turn... well, then the dubbers (or Konami?) did something right for once.

So, it's 2011 March, then? Or shall I write 2011 March or April" instead? Just for the first post of the thread.

Yup, the 3D effect is quite amazing, just as you expect out of HQ 3D movies. Most of the screen-popping would be Life Point, ATK and DEF, and LV counters. The animation itself is really good, living up to Kagami's style. The subtitles also match with the scripts that were written down before, also. The trailer doesn't mention how Paradox wishes to erase Pegasus though. The part of the preview was very much like the first trailer we've seen but mentions no bit of that. Basically so far they've shown that Paradox steals Stardust, travels through time, and how he wishes to save the future. This would make people wonder why the main three are dueling to stop Paradox then. Would be confusing for first-seers.

Yeah, its really a shame. The screen was very blurry without the glasses (thats how revved up it is with the effect!) but does seem they were able to mix with its music since they had to cut at certain points. You wouldn't expect it, but the sequence of their duel disks activating look gorgeous in 3D, its as if you see the curves of their disks, whats sticking out, and everything! Of course, Stardust being summoned was beautiful in the effect.

Well I heard one of the watch-overs of the screening said that he heard its in April. So would appear that between March and April is the best way to go. Oh at the end it showed how each series began in dub and I never noticed that they were all in September of 2001, 2005, and 2008. I guess 2011 does mark for the rest of the world besides Japan of its 10th anniversary global.

EDIT: I'm quite curious how the dub will explain on Judai with Yubel. In the Q&A as someone asked about season 4, Greg said that he's almost sure they have ended that project and once the door is closed, it stays shut when it comes to 4Kids!. In the preview, as it showed Judai's turn, it doesn't reveal the scene Yubel appears behind him but they did show when his eyes glow before the duel. Who knows what they'll do for that, I just easily imagine that 'Jaden' found himself back in the world with Yubel inside him. And just pretty much say he finished Duel Academia and travelled the world, I guess, ignoring all on Season 4. Probably the European version of the movie will play normally since they did recieve Tag Force 3 and the season being dubbed in Italy(?).

That's great to hear! And good to know the subtitles matched with the scripts.

Hrm. Well, to be specific, I think Paradox wanting to erase Pegasus was more of a Fanon thing, or at least it was kind of ambiguous. The Animation Book never mentioned it (although it does speak of Sugoroku's and Pegasus' deaths as a tragedy), and Paradox himself never said it. The Japanese movie trailer mentioned "Orders to kill the Creator of Duel Monsters!", but this point wasn't elaborated on anywhere. Paradox never speaks of an order, nor the Animation Book, or the voice actors. When Paradox is about to sic the dragons on Pegasus' event, he only said "The hour of destiny has come...". No mention of Pegasus anywhere.

All we know is that his future was destroyed and he wished to use Duel Monsters to change history, as well as destroy it. Somewhat.

Heh, already painting Paradox in a sympathetic view? XD Then again, the Japanese trailers did the same, so...

Wow, that's amazing. Sounds like the 3D editors did a brilliant job.

Though, the question is if it's going to make it to Europe or not. I can imagine UK, perhaps, maybe Italy and Germany... And the dub was shown in Italy only. It would be still confusing for other countries, were the movie to be shown over there as well.

It runs through 92, actually. I know because 93 is when ZONE first appeared, and when the trailers started up.

Oh... my... f-ing... God! That sounds like the most awesome thing I've heard in a long time. I expected the two Spiral Forces to be similar, but Stardust Mirage I expected to me like Elemental/Destiny Mirage. The real Passionate Duellists? Awesome. Oh my God oh my God oh my God OH MY GOD. Did they just show the cards in quick succession, or did they stop and show what they all did like GX's Featured cards?

Yeah, Slifer was there as well!

And yeah, before I got there he was already asked to do the summon chant. Agh, you hear me doing that request in the last bit XD

Actually in the beginning and ending of the preview, cards were kinda of moving around across the screen, cards that were in the movie, of course. Similar to GX's ending with the rising cards. That was another cool part since you can see some cards twirling or flipping slowly and 3D effect does another beautiful job at it.

I think the summaries mentioned the credits showed the cards. But seems like it's way better than it sounded from the summaries!

Damn, if it goes like this, then the movie will turn out even better than we thought from the summaries alone. Then again, it's to be expected.

Trust me, they made the movie to make sure to fully abuse Kagami's great animation and the 3D effect to no end XD Must have been the same credits used then, it was very cool. Then its when they show what years the dub of all 3 series began while showing the cards that apparently did it for the duel (Black Spiral, Neos Spiral, Stardust Mirage, and the 3 ace cards) Then the narrator going "Now rev it up, get your game on, and believe in the heart of the cards 'cause its always time to duel~" I totally expected a "Its time to rev your game on" kind of thing

A lot of people came to see the showings, too, like all ages (including an old couple) and for everyone knowing about the series and talking about it. Did me good to see that. And to hear people cheer with each move shown. Though poor kiddies, they probably couldn't keep up with the subtitles. Yugi/Pharaoh's VA was nostalgic because it gave that same energy and goosebumps while watching him make a move in the original anime.

Also..I'm not 100% sure but I MAY have seen Kazuki Takashi himself there. He was dressed very formal. Like I said, not 100% sure

EDIT: Btw, how is Yugi's last name pronounced again? I remember in dub they pronounce it like "Moh-doh" but the narrator said it 'muu-toh'

Thanks for all your efforts Kyte to provide us all this info. I'm a little bit sad we weren't able to see anything from the movie preview, but there is one day left, so there is still hope. x) I'm glad that you're really impressed by the art and the animation, which means everything is the way it should be...it's WONDERFUL! I'm also really pleased to hear that there were many nostalgic DM fans and how excited people actually are about this movie. x)

Oh, also In Slifer's video sets Greg said they have yet to actually start dubbing it, but 4kids is teasing it with posters around the building, or at least the studios. Enough so that the voice actors know the movie is going to be dubbed. His idea for why they have yet to start on it (as well as taking such a long break doing the rest of 5Ds) is due to 4kids huge financial crash. He did mention they are recovering now though.

Well, to begin with, you english people have to understand that in most cases, the japanese "u" is pronounced like the french "u", not like an "oo". Just recite the alphabet in french and you'll get it. Once you understand that, the pronunciation is "mu-toh", with the "o" sound slightly elongated.

Perhaps you could help us English speakers with this.

No one else share that link, or else Konami will see it.

Just a note, that was Sean Schemmel doing the voice, I think.

Now, that was awesome. Nothing beats Judai's turn to the tune of his signature theme, same with Yusei and "Yusei Battle," and it wouldn't be complete without Atem and "Passionate Duelists" (the first time it played earlier was the GX version, but I'm iffy on the one played during his turn). I loved his reaction to Yusei's Synchro-Summon, though, and I love that he and Judai got more cheers than Yusei. XD

Hmm...not really fond of the way they used dub terminology when they were clearly saying something else ("Turbo Duel"->"Riding Duel," "Duel Runner"->"D-Wheel," "Duel Mode, engaged"->"Duel Mode, on"), and the first part of Yusei's Stardust chant's translation sounded a bit...weird, I guess. But that's just me being nitpicky, lol. "Become the path that lights the way" actually sounds good, though, despite not being a literal translation. I know the dub's going to use their terminology, anyway, but for a subbed preview, I thought they'd go with subbing what's there already.

(BTW, the narrator sounded a lot like that dude they got to narrate that early 5D's trailer, who had trouble saying "Stardust Dragon," lol.)

Well, given the blurriness where the 3D would be, and the animation so far, this is looking like it'll be really awesome to watch. Hopefully, there's nothing too bad to worry about for the movie's dub.

Yeah, fortunately the movie does look way better than we expected on the scripts we've read. Actually seeing their turns with sound and not on OPs and EDs, it gives such thrills to watch as you can hear audiences cheer. Btw, I think I was in that very same showing because the cheers and laughters to Yugi's reaction sounded exact. Despite blurry as heck without the glasses, it actually didn't look too bad caught on camera. Oh and the sound quality is much better, like they had spears in the room, big sized so gave a feeling of a cinema. I watched the preview several times myself XD

Now after seeing the subtitled version, we just wonder how the English dub will be like. If they kept with exactly how the subtitles said, it actually matches lip sync so they could EASILY use their translated script. But ehh, we know we'll get some changed things and lines and such and perhaps unneeded pop culture references like POL had ('Zoinks!' 'That's all folks')

You know, for those who have never seen the original version, this actually must be a new experience to hear such upbeat music during Yugioh. When in fact, 5Ds has been all about that. I still wonder who subbed it, because Kirk said if they were subbing Yugioh, they would only change the card names in the subs. I guess Konami did this one. They have yet to start dubbing it, 4kids and their major financial crash last year (they were delisted, lost 4 million net worth of potential money ...) but i hope by March it will be the dub in theaters.

Seeing Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl shoot Black Twin Burst through Sin Paradox Dragon like a kamehameha through its face and torso is just...epic beyond words.

I never imagined it would look like that. Neos Knight cutting through Sin Cyber End was nice too.

That preview was awesome, I hope they keep the lines at least somewhat close to what the original had. I'm curious to see if they will dub Make Magic or not. The best part is hearing the original soundtrack, although I'm fairly certain that both times Passionate Duelists played that it was the GX version.

Well, I actually downloaded the file and converted it to wmv for when it gets removed. When it does, I will try and post it in the download forum.

EDIT: File bloated when converted, so when I get it up on the download forum, it will be 100MB, sorry.

Was anyone else cracked up over how Paradox's D-Wheel had headlights where the "eyes" were on the dragon head..

...And he actually started trying to flash Yusei to pull over? ROTFL, what the hell was that? Is he trying to pull him over or something?

No clue why, I guess if you're riding a D-Wheel then that means a challenge. I think I've seen that used before in the 5D's anime. And I noticed during their turns, it has the trends from their series XD

5D's dueling trend: flashy, discarding cards for effects
GX dueling trend: a very simple move but a very strong monster in a single turn
DM dueling trend: using a whole bunch of cards in a single turn to take down an opponent's card

Wow, this movie is truly gorgeous and is going to be amazing. Yugi reacting to Yusei's Synchro Summon was amusing, but to be expected. XD And damn, Sin Paradox Dragon's destruction looked epic! I can only imagine Sin Truth going down is going to look even better!

Not really, because I have already seen it in promotional material. XD I thought it was a cool gimmick. Imagine if you left the lights on in the dark. Glowing eyes, a giant D-Wheel going to get you...

And yes, that's how duels are initated in 5D's. Ghost clearly did it in 65.

The animation was gorgeous and I'm glad Sethy was able to record it. It doesn't even suffer much with the 3D aspect taken in.
