The screenshots are really HQ ones. But they seem to be taken only from the OP, not from the ED of this week's 5D'S episode. (but when I think of it, that's completely normal...the episode airs today) I'll expect with great pleasure to see the OP and the ED. Impatient to see whatt more scenes will be shown. ^_^ Today also airs the third A&A special. Well, in other words, today will be a great day. Hope we'll see and learn more about the movie.

The scene shows also how promote card game: who better than his creator ?
    Heh, good point.

You mean who is the better creator of the card game? Well, it's not that Takahashi is threatened by alien forces (eg. Duel Monsters wrecking the world) or some dude from the future who would like to kill him... XD (Unless you count NAS/Konami as one.)

I'm french btw, so sorry if my english is weird sometimes :/

Let's begin with the evolution of Duel Monsters game in YGO,

In DM, it's just a game people know about, but as famous as it's going to be in the future (for example, people reaction's to Battle City)

In GX, an academia is created, and it's a bit darker than it was with Atem's story (Darkness, Yubel, Underground Duels like the one Ryo/Zane played). And more than before, we can see Monsters "acting" (like hane kuriboh, cyber dark dragon). They have their own will and sometimes choose the duelist they want to be their owner.

In 5D's, the cardgame is a major part of society, and it cause a lot of "colateral damages" to the population (like in the episod with loan token). The Crimson Dragon (which is one of the most powerful entity ever in ygo) chose to have its "soldiers" incarnate in cards. Those cards are very powerful and have a very strong will (ancient fairy dragon for example...). Not to mention that 5D's is darker than any of the 2 previous series.

We could possibly assume that in a very distant future, things get even worse. Perhaps the world uses monsters (with solid vision or psychic powers) to make war. People perverted the monsters we know (Stardust, BEWD) into the most powerful weapons mankind ever known. Human's sins cause monsters to turn evil (creation of sin world). It eventually causes the "red future" Paradox witness in one the screens we have.

Prior to this far far future, is Paradox future. He's a scientist that eventually discovers the space-time travelling machine. Since he is willing to help people, he's the ideal target for the "sin" power. By one way or another, it gives him power to corrupt monsters. Sin "big boss" told him he have to save the future, and for that, he had to kill Pegasus (perhaps because Pegagus had the way/power to stop that future where sins monsters rules). To prove that, SinBB told him to go see the future by himself to see what happened to mankind. The result is the famous image we all know : Paradox standing before ruins with no sign of human beings. Paradox then search a way to save the future not killing pegasus whithout touching the 5D's storyline, but eventually failed. His "experiments" over history failed.

Finally, he decided to listen to SinBB, create his Sin deck, and go capture the most powerful creatures of Duel Monsters. That's more or less where the movie start.

It's the more logical background to me. It's probably so wrong, but it sounds good to me xD I particulary like the role of Sin Monsters one of you posted. Sorry if something with exactly the same ideas has been posted already ><
    Oh~?

I find your interpretation of Paradox very interesting! I like your idea of the distant future not being Paradox's actual future.

And there's no problem with having the "wrong" idea or reposting the same ideas. Our knowledge of Paradox is pretty rough anyway, so we all have our headcanon right now. XD We all see Paradox and his future differently.

Your analysis is very interesting. I like how you show the Duel Monster's progression in the society accross each series: cards become important more and more in society step by step.

Do the war with Duel Monster is originally Divine's idea. Someone who realizes this idea ? It's interesting. It is simple to realizes it: a Duel Disk and cards are just necessary.

You think Sin monsters are similar at Eathbound God. Arynis had already supposed this idea. It's an idea very possible. But you think also that the Sin can talk and convince Paradox his actions are good. Why not ?

And the idea about a better future without kill Pegasus is very possible also. Unfortunaly, nothing seems confirm that Paradox had thought at this possibiliy: we can't see the movie for the moment and nobody evocated the idea in the summary of the movie.

I can't see Paradox like a scientist. Really not.

Yes, who is the perfect person to promote card game ? Answer: the creator himself.

NAS and Konami are the real promoter of the card game. Perhaps we count NAS AND Konami really like a threaten, finally...

From Takasugi Jay Jirou's (Pegasus' VA) blog:

    今日は現在公開中の映画の打ち上げでした。
    キャストを含めスタッフ総勢200名余り。映画も好調のよう。
    でビンゴ大会で当たったのは原作の高橋先生のサイン。
    飾ろうっと(笑)

He's talking about the movie's public launch(?). He explains the movie staff consisted of 200 people (including the cast), and that he got Takahashi's artwork as a prize. (He won it at some bingo meeting, or something?)

In one of the comments, Jirou mentions something about "Pegasus writing as well".

Well, NAS and Konami demanded Takahashi to create designs for the next YGO series (As in GX after DM, 5D's after GX), and judging by the latest interview with him, they finally got him, lol.

Actually it's what duel monster was in ancient egypt, it's a paradox that Yugi/Atem use duel monster to defeat evil force which were the evil's source of all problem. I like the idea too if i see it as a return to the source of duel monster in ancient egypt. (Sorry my sentences sucks but i'm french and tired so please be nice with me ^^')

    Thanks a lot, guys!

As for the duel itself, the flow went quite smoothly despite of it being short. I'm just shocked by the fusion material of Neos Knight in which Looks can be Deceiving totally fooled me for a second I read that info. It's right enough that Paradox's cards were overpowered per say and intimidating.

I know a little game we could play with this whole tuned-up of a duel. Let us just insert random lines on a particular screen shot or a scene of a movie and mess up the story by making it funny. Kind of what the abridged would do.

Scene: Paradox sees the three protagonists

Judai: Hey! Stop ruining the timelines, what's your purpose hopping with--ugh yer bike?
Yusei: Would you please explain why you are doing this?
Paradox: I came here to re-write history as you know it. Your future would be doomed anyway if never came to change them, do you agree?
Yugi: Then why kill countless lives for your ambitions?

    Paradox Takes off his mask

Paradox: It's not just Duel Monsters I'm dealing with, fools! I'm preventing the "End of the World" for all mankind to survived.
Judai: For me, our time is a-okay without your meddling. And you almost kill me with a stolen card!!-fumbles-
Yusei: Ugh, what he meant is to apologize and please return our stolen cards.
Yugi: Argh, I won't forgive for anything! -cries-
Yusei: Please calm down, both of you.

Paradox: Actually, I'm not the only one who can travel through because I have my other colleagues traveling by the use of the "Time Machine" from the distant future!
    Judai: Say what?!
    Yugi: Not again?
Yusei: I never heard of such a machine! The mechanics are impossible!

Paradox: Maybe not from your time but this machine has both technological and magical powers and I'm only obeying its orders in which it has a mind of its own.

    Judai: Oh bugger.
Yusei: We will stop your plans, even all of you in this evil scheme!!
Paradox: Even if you do defeat me, there's still more of my people screwing different timelines in this moment! If I were you, you should get more help elsewhere. You cannot handle the Hysteria that goes with it!

    Yugi: Grrrr...
hey, it that true? omg. Yusei just like their brother, lol

...You're cruel, NAS. Oh so cruel. Not only you drop the enormous building on everyone in the vicinity, but you specially show Pegasus getting squashed by the rubble. Damn. (Well, it was Paradox's Cyber End technically, but still...)

I suppose I won't be laughing at Pegasus' "OH MY GOD!" anymore when it comes. *shudders*

    Thank you for the upload!

I think she was just making the dialogues up based on what we know, purely for fun. They are not real.

waiwaiwait Yugi is the only one to survive? It's hard to believe, it seems like not even an earthshake can kill a main character don't care if it goes against logic.

Is there anyone who is going to see the movie in theatre in the next time? If yes, would it be possible just to record the audio? Maybe not with a mobile phone but with a camera or something so you get a good sound quality? I mean no one should notice if you hide it under your seat or whatever

It would be really cool to at least hear what's going on.

Thanks Arynis. Several DM BGMs were used in that video; whether they were music for the AxA show or actual BGMs for the movie seemed to alternate.

I dunno, something rubs me wrong about the prospect of Paradox being controlled by his cards. It kinda goes against the fact that he's the one trying to eradicate duel monsters, and its his cause to want to protect the future. We're not really given any cause to believe the cards are nothing more than extensions of his will, and tools for his cause. Furthermore, the "Sin" theme, seems to reflect Paradox, not the other way around. The fact each of the stolen monsters end up getting a fabulous Paradox-like make over, and his own ace monster, "Sin Paradox Dragon" resembles him, is hardly coincidental. The archetype reflects him, not the other way around. Paradox is no pawn. He may be misguided but we're not given any indication there's someone else pulling his strings, save for maybe fate.

Is there a end to Paradox's awesomeness? o.o

    1. His AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING HAIR
    2. His mask disappearing skills (i know it was a scene cut out from where he takes his mask off, but i'd like to think that in my mind T.T)
    3. His Transforming D-wheel, which can FLY! ^^
    4. If something doesn't go how he likes it to go. THEN CRUSH IT!

    What next?

JunkWarrior: Yes, you can go ahead and fix it if you'd like to. Just credit and respond to the original. :]
Translation time! (Not 100% accurate, remember)

Yusei: What?! He's got my card!
    Jack: Impossible! Stardust Dragon...!
    Crow: ...became his card?!
Yusei: Does that mean he's stolen it somehow?!

    Paradox:
With this, my great experiment has been completed.

Judai: *To Yusei* I believe you. (Most likely Yusei just explained that he is from the future and Judai says he believes his story.)

Yusei: The three of us have to work together and combine our power!
    Yugi: Okay!

Paradox: Very well. I will crush the three of you in the very same Duel Monsters you trust so much.
    All: Let's go!!

Judai: *Audio is too low to hear clearly, but I believe Judai is telling Yusei that he thinks the same guy, Paradox, is behind what's happening. I think they are in Yugi's era when Pegasus and Sugoroku are killed at this point.*
Yusei: Let's get closer! (Not sure exactly what he says, but it's something along the lines of going to check it out or check on what is happening.)

Thank you for the info! (Even if I'm a bit late ^^; ) So are those two also part of the movie's staff? Because I could add them to the Wiki, then.

That's right. The cards reflect their owner's personality and character. But I see what you mean with the possession thing being wrong - Paradox seems like an individual who wants to take control of his unfortunate fate, rather than being controlled by something. Going with the Sin monster route was a reasonable way to explain the whole "Orders to kill the creator of Duel Monsters" business. Who else would order him, a fellow human comrade? But that goes against Paradox's whole "no pawn" mentality, as you said. And Paradox ordering himself is kind of bizarre... XD

By the looks of it, no. He oozes of awesomeness in every second of his screentime! And yeah, I doubt anyone could outdo that hair. XD

The flying D-Wheel idea is something I like a lot. (Up next in the YGO franchise: Duel Transformers! *shot*) But seriously, it's kind of neat. I could see him using it in a more leisurely manner, like floating up above the city he lived in, just lean back and look at the sky, smirking and knowing he can screw everyone if he needs some peace.

Regarding Pegasus, his pupils looked squished, similar to some of the characters in Umineko No Naku Koro Ni when they are dealt a particularly cruel move (thus killing them) or if they are downright insane. But it also conveys his sudden horror and realization that he's going to die right there, and there's nowhere to run. It's scary... (But it still makes me think of Umineko... XD)

GoldenUmi: Thank you once again for the translation!

JunkWarrior: And thank you for the fixed version! :]

    Poor Yuugi..
As far as I know, the Animation Book contains a story and character guide for the three series, and by the looks of it, Takahashi interviews(!!!!).

They are, to the best of my knowledge.

Also, I forgot to translate a few of makemagic's lyrics. The corrected lyrics are here: http://www.janime.eu/showthread.php/...71#post2397871

Horoko, you've been oddly mum on your thoughts on the OVA and stuff. What do you think of it? Don't you have any humor or snark to share with us? T_T

WELL, the fact that he doesn't must mean he doesn't think it's as dumb as some of the 5D's season three episodes... or at least that's my take on it.

1: Gotta love the timing of the movie scene and the music in the alternate ED. Especially when Paradox's D Wheel transforms and rises into the air.

2: I also like that when Paradox takes off his mask, that red tatoo?, appears and it is coming off his face, as if it just appeared when he took the mask off.
Greetings to all and have a merry duel.

    That is his eyebrow xD
And yes that scenes of the movie in the Op and Ed are awesome, I have played them all the day xD Specially the Opening ^^

And about today special: it was cool, they repeated some of the scenes of yesterday, but they showed a building collapsing ^^ I like it ^^
Again, thanks for the video recording Arynis ^^

That's quite the talent there man. You should be sure to include such a skill in your resume. You could get a job like a blueprint designer, or something even better. I know that may be stretching it a little, but the sky's the limit.

In the latest preview from the movie, it looks as if Pegasus has both his eyes, as if he never wore the Millennium Eye. On Prismweapon's subtitled version, it's 2:54. This could give a hint as to where Yugi is in the timeline.
Yeah I got in a mad fight with a washing machine.

The staff diary has updated - http://www.yugioh10th.com/diary/
I don't know what exactly is said, bit it's mentined that Takahashi saw the movie along with 100 000 more people. ^_^ Producer "J" thanks, not once, very, very much to everyone with tears in the eyes and wants more people to see the movie by all means.
One of the 3 sections that were closed is now opened - http://www.yugioh10th.com/interview.html It's said to be the Interview section.
