Thread: Studio Dice Website

Checking the .SWF file for the gallery, it's ridiculously small in size, which means that the images themselves have to be hosted somewhere outside of that file.

I wouldn't bank on Manga-Saiou. Kazuki Takahashi scrapped the Yu-Gi-Oh! + GX collaboration himself because he decided (rightfully so imo) that reviving Atem was a bad idea amd cheapened the ending of his story.

Honestly, I find his GX scetches to be the most interesting, save for maybe Misawa. Something seems off about him.. It makes me imagine an alternate GX where the lightheartedness of a school-based anime and the dark and creepy side of Yu-Gi-Oh! blend in harmony. I like the medals on the Obelisk Blue uniform a lot too. Tey really add to the "Elite" feel the dorm was supposed to put off but never quite did, not even in the manga. Edo looks older in his sketches. Makes me wonder if he was actually supposed to be, intead of Boy Geniusman who stalks evil at night.

...and don't even get me started on short-haired super maniac Saiou. Too late! He just looks soo much more menacing. Like, "he'll eat your children he's so crazy" evil. That one sketch of him smiling is almost nightmare-endusing.

It's kind of shocking that he designed Napoleon and Savior Dragon. Didn't see that coming at all. Agreed on the Black Rose thing, btw.

The image with Zork is so HELL EPIC! That's what I call EVIL DEMON GOD! XD The animators should've drawn him this way in the DM series too! The entire scene is EPICNESS! XD
I even think Takahashi's image TOTALLY outmatches the final scene from OP5 - Overlap, which is quite similar to this one, but then again, Takahashi made this one WAY BETTER! XD

Atem's egyptian outfit is also a little bit different.....and again may be better than the one from the anime. O_o x) I like those patterns reminding the Millennium Key. x)

You can see that the snake tail is comming from around the back of Zork.

Yep even if he kinda edited Zork's dragon head in the bunkoban.

Here we see him in his old form but in full glory and with Kaz's new style XD.

Meaning at least from what I conclude now is that the Demon God Zork was always meant to look like that.
So the anime made no mistake XP.

Yeah, I thought Takahashi always wanted Zork to have it as a tail, so I would figure it would be that way in the galary.

Its a but more obvious where the neck of that dragon is connected.

I'm not talking about the anime, or the first manga release. Bankoban Zork was edited so that it was made clear that the snake head was a tail. and you can still see that it's coming from behind him in the image, unless Zork's side is where his junk is. =/

Kazuki Takahashi woiuldn't draw his original Zork. I think he even said something in the bankubans along the lines of "what was I thinking?" in regards to his original Zork.

This new image just stets it in stone.
ZORK IS THE MOST SCANDALOUS ANIME MONSTER VILLAIN. And he actually gets away with it...

Thanks. That is quite funny how he said he didn't notice it before and didn't know what he though. I guess he knows that is how it is and drew it how he originally did.

The image is draw in a way to still confuse ppl about Zork's dragon. Kinda to leave it to the ppl for themselves to see what they want.
And this is not the first time Kaz does that on a Zork picture.

Anyway. The Pharaoh now looks better cuz a bit more details are noticeable on his outfit.

As usual, thanks for the translations Horoko. Takahashi's right, he made Mai less shiny for the bunkobans. And I wonder what he means by "I'm in the midst of making a weird cartoon".

It's a long shot, but could it be possible that the Zork image was made before the bunkoban revisions?

You know...the anime studios would do themselves a real service to have Takahashi consult with them, and actually stay true to his initial designs. The Godwin we see with the severed arm of his brother looks incredibly more cool, badass, and threatening, than the inflated roid-rage clown we were shown in the anime. The difference between the design sketch and actual anime presentation is just...amazing. If the animators stayed closer in line with Takahashi's designs these characters would look so much cooler.

The Atem vs. Zork piece is just awesome, as everyone else has stated. Great update as usual.

Haha, nice to see that they're aware of all of use non-Japanese fans. Maybe they'll do something to satisfy us in the future? It's a stretch, but still.

The GALLERY section has updated with 2 images of Ra and Obelisk. Too bad that this time I can't merge them as I usually do. xD x) Wonder why Osiris isn't still included? O_o

Images we've seen before, but they're a bit different this time. Obelisk seems darker than on the card (and Good Lord he looks badass) whereas Ra is lighter. Plus they've got a background this time. These images would make great posters. Onto page 3 of the Gallery -- Takahashi, you're the man.

New pictures are great! Ra illuminates the darkness by his light!

It would spoil the final God card that hasn't been released yet. These reimages of Ra and Obelisk were used on their OCG cards. Osiris is the one I think has the best design, so it'll be nice to see Kazuki's new artwork for him this December, if the trend follows. lol

Also, why couldn't Shueishia just let him finish the background before slapping those onto cards? The look even better when not standing infront of a plain black or white background.

I too am pissed that they don't have those awesome Egyptian themed backgrounds. Gragh. Damnit.

And not only that they have better lighting and ultimately more awesome backgrounds.

Thats the best Obelisk artwork right there on Takahashi's own site.

Wow... When I saw this, I immediately though that they didn't made any effort on the JUMP cards... The colors and the backgrounds are so much betters in the gallery!

Wow! I've only just looked at this website and it's amazing. I love the character sketches section. Asuka especially looks great but does anyone know who the drawing is of in the GX sketchbook who looks a bit like Manjoume but I suspect are ideas for Kaibaman as they look a bit like Seto too. I can't tell you which is the actual page as the GX section is currently showing the 5D'S page (maybe they're updating the GX page?).

There's some problem with the links. When you press on the button for the 5D'S sketchbook, the GX one will show up. I guess they'll fix this soon.

Ah that explains it In that case, the pages I was wondering about are 3 and 4, it says APEX! at the top. Anyone know if that is meant to be Manjoume and Kaiba or a Kaibaman prototype?

The character you're talking about is most likeley a Manjyome prototype. I know a Manjyome that looks a lot closer to what we actually got is in the book too, but the character was also shown on the first GX concept art that was released in the back of the final volume of the original manga, where the closer-to-model Manjyome does not appear.

Thanks for the info. The concept art wasn't in the back of my manga so I guess it must have been in the Japanese release only. I like seeing the original concepts of the characters and how they're developed.

Huh, you're right. Takahashi's removed the slash lines from Elf Swordsman, and given Demon Summon a background. I guess he's uploading perfected images of all the card arts he's done.

I wonder what background he'll be given. x) I also cherish big hopes for BMG's background too, cuz yellow isn't exactly her colour. xD
