(And now people will think there has been an update because someone bumped the thread. B| )

Thankfully, turns out there it is. Takahashi has written some entires on the 28th which I haven't seen addressed (although one of them is for the figures) and a more recent one written on the 4th of August.

What I have been meaning to ask, however (hence my post's original intention), what does Button classify as? Is it a Web Original material like Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog? Or as an Anime? Or both of them?

As far as I know Takahashi defined Button as a Cartoon. Not to mention it doesn't look like an anime at all. And I guess it's something like Web Original Movie.

I guess It's a WOM. When I see it, I think always to the comics: button is a comic animated somewhere.

Web Original Movie, then? Maybe Web Animation? Thanks guys.

I'm asking partly because I was confused what it's exactly classified as, and partly because I'd like to create a TV Tropes page for it, which means I'd need to categorize it somewhere.

Web Original Movie/Animation/Cartoon. I think it should be classified in this way. But definitely not as an Anime.

I figured it didn't look like other amine due to Kaz style, looking more like American comics.

That's perspicuous since Takahashi is fan of American comics.

    Thanks for the translation Horoko.
So, the CREATOR is planning on drawing full color comic one day. x) It'll be interesting to see it.
And Studio Dice takes its summer vacation next week. I guess this means we won't see any updates for some time. That doeasn't sound good, but since Takahashi will spend small part of the time drawing, that would mean we'll have some major update after the summer vacation.
But let's leave the creator and his team to have some break after all. x)

Horoko, you're pretty fast anyway. XD Thank you for the translation!

So Takahashi is interested in drawing a full color comic? That'd be pretty cool.

Also, I'm working on the TV Tropes page now. I'll link it after I managed to set it up, in case any Tropers around here are up for contributing.

TV Tropes entry is up now. I added a few Tropes, although I'm certain a few more could be listed. I'm certain there was a Trope for the smiling planet going sad as it was blowing up, but I don't recall the Trope name right now.

Anyway, have at it, Tropers. Or feel free to make suggestions and I shall get to it.

    Additional Comment (avoiding double posting)

Takahashi made a new blog entry. http://www.studio-dice.com/dice/mypa...-06-51-17.html

Bumping again, because Takahashi added a new section to his site. http://www.studio-dice.com/dice/contact-us.html

Apparently we can contact him (or his team) now? AWESOME. Wait, it's just a Feedback section... oh well. Still awesome.

There's also a Privacy Policy section now. http://www.studio-dice.com/dice/top/privacy-policy.html

First, please explain how are you bumping without double posting like that (we have no addition comment auto thing)?

Second, I sent a message, I hope the webmaster can read it.

I would just like to say from an American fan I am very happy with your work and your love for out comics. I hope your colored manga does well (seeing as most manga are Black and White)

I hope you can read this.
Basically just a thank you kind of thing and letting him know he has many American fans.

Yeah, we don't, basically that's just what I added to note the new material in my old post.

I add the new information to my last post, then select the entire post and copy it somewhere (eg. Wordpad). I delete the old post (Edit Post -> Delete Post), make a new post, paste in the old post's information (along with the new material) and then post it.

...Yeah, Lil_Yugi beat me to it. XD

I'm holding back a little myself until we know what the sections on the Feedback page entails, but that's a good message, Cohen. I'm sure Takahashi will appreciate it if it gets to him! =D Although one part of me wishes we could ask him questions regarding the series ala Word Of God confirmation on various subjects... although I highly doubt he'd answer them. XD (Or just pull the usual "I left it up to the individual to interpret it" card. Or, well, refuse to give any information.)

Takahashi is some kind of old-fashioned about the homepages. I'll never understand the making of homepage and blogging about everything in your life. (especially very personal things) O_o But I guess the info about his staff tweeter members will be useful to those who have homepages and blogs. I don't intend to make one in the very distant future. xD

    5% female, huh... That's kinda scary. ._.

Spoiler: I wonder what he's talking about

I use the translate from Japanese to English at google.

    It's all about (look away)
    In retrospect Weekly
When you are the Yugioh series,
    In the reader survey popularity
Only 05% approval rating in women
(In the fifth worst in the magazine)
Charge added at the time, female fans
Give up! And he said that day,,,

Kazuki said "Give up!", I wonder what he's talking about. ._. But I'm not sure about it. Well, I'm a bit little scared.

Sorry, I'm not good at English. Please understand it.

    Thanks, Horoko!

Man, the proper translation makes much more sense. (I mean, breast lumps? Whut?) It's interesting to see that Yu-Gi-Oh! had so little female readers... well, I'm pretty sure that's changed by now. XD

Yeah, I forgot the manga began in 1996, and things were way different back then.

But still. It's kind of odd to hear such a thing in 2010, where all you see is crazy women in the YGO fandom. :U

Hahaha.....yeah, it still seems strange, even funny when being surrounded by present-day crazy, hysterical YGO fangirls. xD xD xD Takahashi won't need to "give up on the female fans!" xD xD xD since now they continue to multiply. xD

Like Kuribohs during, say, the duel against Kaiba during Duelist Kingdom. You take down a few, there will be more. And even more.

That's really cool of Mr. Takahashi. And hey, the subtitles aren't half bad either. Not fluent but better than they could've been.

For Japanese translating, it looks pretty good. However, there are some sentences that sound weird. I noticed there was a curse, I guess Kaz felt the need to add that in (since from what I know there is no kanji for the curse "shit")

    It's two bunkoban covers once again. Bakura as the Killer Game Master and Pegasus and the Yugis with Magician of Black Chaos! <3 Black Chaos. Pegasus' stare is freaking creepy, however. ;_;

And yes, it's already the 25th in Japan. It should be almost 4 AM there.

    EDIT: Blog updates.

Cool. I currently can't see any differences between them and the bunkoban covers, except for the fact that the Bakura bunkoban is slightly smaller than the full image given here.

    Default Re: Studio Dice Website

So I finally got down to catching up with Button.

First of all, the Plot section. Horoko's translation says the name of Planet Button's ruler is Munoh, but the website spells it as Munor. Which one is correct?

And, is "The Boy Pula Nettie Ann" supposed to be BUTTON 299's name? Or does that refer to something else? (Or it's just bad English.)

Hmm, so the "rival" guy is called Bounty. So he and Button joined the army in the same year, but Bounty came out at the top. Poor Button! And the subs confirm the family was Button's family.

Now that I think about it, Takahashi in the Animation Book interview said that there was a theme he wasn't able to convey through anime, and that was "family love", and he thought about doing it. He wasn't referring to a new YGO series. He was (probably) referring to this one! Especially with Button's family depending on him, and Button wanting to find a planet so he and his family can live together. (I know I brought this up before, but I think it's pretty clear now. However, he said "convey through anime", and Button is more of a web animation, not to mention not quite an anime... huh.)

The maintenance program in Button's Ring is called Mente. I wonder if Mente will become a companion to Button, or he'll gain friends on his adventure? I'm a bit disappointed there are only two more episodes to go. It's not going to be too long, is it? =(

I'm curious to learn more about Bounty and Dr. Walkure as well. I wonder why Dr. Walkure blew up their Planet? Is he just a Big Bad who wants to rule space or something? Though, going by YGO, I'd expect a twist to Walkure's motives. Or considering how different Button seems to be, perhaps I shouldn't be comparing the two series, haha. Although I don't think it can be denied that Takahashi is going for a Deconstruction here. A button that does anything? That's cool! ...But it's also used by politicians to further their own needs and destroy the planet.

Perhaps Dr. Walkure didn't approve of the politicians? He was bored of the peace? He just wants to use the power of buttons to destroy everything? But I need to point out, I still find it funny that his face is shaped like a heart, just like the heart in the logo and the computer screen. And he's the bad guy!

Either way, I'm looking forward to the next episode. This should be interesting, now that I know exactly what is going on.

Well, this is his first try in making animated cartoon. Even making 3-episode animation (well 4, if we count the prlogue) probably took him many hours of drawing and colouring. And we know this isn't an easy task, even for such a talented man like him. x) I guess since this cartoon achieved such success, it won't be the last project we'll see from him different from the YGO related stuff.
Although I'd be very pleased with similar humorous-adventurous YGO animated cartoon including the 3 main characters. xD But, anyway....xD x)

That's a good point, though. I just like this too much and can't get over the fact that it's "only" 4 episodes, fff. I'd love to see more creations by Takahashi as well. Like Cohen mentioned, a comic book would be nice.

I'm still waiting for a Funny Rabbit spinoff comic.

"Muunoo" can be taken as either. I just went on the assumption that it was a play on "Moon" and "oh" (king.)

"The Boy Pula Nettie Ann" is supposed to be "the young planetian" ("planetian" isn't really a word, so whatever online translator that was used to make that translation screwed it up.)

Thanks for informing us, Arynis. I keep checking the website for updates mainly in the Gallery section, but forgot to see for new blog entries. I'm a little absent minded lately. Thanks again. x)

Hm, Munoh would indeed make more sense, then. Especially with Takahashi being fond of punny names.

Oh, so that was just a screw-up, then. (I didn't even notice the weird string of names were supposed to stand for "planetian", damn.)

    Thanks Horoko!

EDIT: No problem Lia. The blog section is easy to overlook because it just says "Always new", rather than having a date attached to it.

This episode is titled "Smiley's Advice", isn't it?

This episode was quite entertaining. Button 229 and Mente find a planet, which turns out to be inhabited a snail creature called Smiley(?). The planet itself isn't big enough to house 500 planetians, however. Button 229 and Smiley engage in a long conversation, something about making him laugh and his backstory of how he got to that small planet and formed his face in it. (A planet full of spirals, even. I can see Uzumaki readers screaming in terror in a remote corner of the world...) Then Mente has an idea, and Button 229 then uses his buttons to "scan" Smiley, making a copy of Smiley's face appear on his head. Smiley gets back into his shell and appears to chuckle. Then he tells about some advice to Button 229, who then flies off into space again.

So that leaves us with one more episode to go... I wonder how will Bounty fit into this situation. And, well, Dr. Walkure. I am curious about how they will deal with him... whatever ensues, it's going to be one hell of a button mashing.

That's impressive! No Dr. Walkure, though? :<

Although Fujiwara and Smiley beat them to it by a few days.

    There a new Blog entry.

    Something about Button apparently.

Another entry in section Section Figure.

    Button in real!

EDIT 2: New pictures in the Gallery!

Great! The first is Kaiba, Yugi and Jono-Uchi. Kuriboh looks cute. There a sun in his artwork...?
The second is Team Protagonists. Yeah!

    Sorry for all these edits!

There's also a Figure section now for BUTTON as well. (Or well, Allana beat me to it. XD) Except it's stuck on loading and I can't see a thing...

Well, apparently it just takes a long time to load. There's Button 229, Mente and Bounty.

I hope they are going to be cheaper than the Yu-Gi-Oh! ones, lol.

EDIT: Don't worry about it, Allana.

Wow, the picture with Yugi, Kaiba and Jonouchi is awesome. Also, Kaiba noseshot!

And Judai secretly flipping off everyone never gets old.

It was about time too see some gallery updates. x) I love the 2 new illustrations, so no matter we know the second one, I'm gonna merge it along with the never-before-seen one. x) Expect the merged versions of the images after an hour or so. You'll see an editted announcement post on this page though. xD xD xD
PS: Aw, BUTTON figures look very nice. I'm glad they don't look that much like toys. I like them.

I'm always a fan of Galley updates. Kaaba and Jonouchi look awesome, but I think something's up with Yugi. I don't get why Yugi's eyes change colour so much either. As for the Yugi/Yusei/Judai image, as far as I can tell it's the same as its original release.

The Button figures are surprisingly decent. I'm impressed.
