Again, I think a better idea would be to do what GU is doing for the original and try something similar to the dub. It would be much better than simply placing the original's BGM over the dub, it doesn't match so well. It never did, which is why we are going through this whole mess of putting better/more appropriate tracks in.

I dunno about it not fitting at all, but putting the original BGM in would work, if it's well-mixed (and I'm assuming Mephisto was just testing stuff out). I wouldn't mind doing a re-score for the dub movie, except I'd probably try to move around or cut any/most extra lines that shouldn't be there, since those just bother me, and it'd kinda mess up the flow (like with Crow's and Jack's lines as Paradox closes in during Mephisto's clip).

Would it be possible for someone to do a Voices and SFX only MP3 version with the english version just like it was done with the japanese? and maybe get the BMG file as well?

    I am a total *******.

My blu-ray can't play on my blu-ray player. I honestly didn't think BDs had region blocks like DVDs, as the Strong World One Piece BD I got from Japan was region free, so I assumed they all were.

Not only did I waste 50 bucks, but I can't watch it now and I don't want to go buy the DVD either, as it will be the same problem.

Then, may I suggest buying a region free DVD Player?

I actually have one, now that you mention it. It's still packed after I moved out of state a few months ago. I can't hook it up until I complete the work on the room in this house I am moving into. Even so, I wouldn't want to pay more money for the DVD.

Well, my only other option is to get the blu-ray burner for my computer I've been putting off and burning it onto my PC, in turn removing the region coding and then burning it onto a new BD blank media and then watching it that way.

Um, no? I think it's an interesting idea. I don't see why you take offence to it. I remember when Lance added Impossible Victory to the GX dub. The change was dramatic and highly positive.

What exactly are you using to play your BluRays? Are you using your computer? If you have Corel WinDVD BD, it should be able to work. I am not 100% sure, and was so unsure I opted out of buying the BluRay ...

I use a Sony blu-ray player. I looked up cracks that break region coding, but I heard Sony's is tough to crack. I can't play BDs on my computer until I buy a BD drive.

So glad I didn't buy the BluRay, as it turns out I can only change my region on WinDVD 4 times until it is permanent. I would rather just use VLC, even if it is such horrible quality comparatively to the up-scaling.

Is it just a coincidence that the location of the Yugi, Judai and Yusei Vs Paradox duel is the same as the Yugi Vs Judai duel? The town clock in Domino City. Also the 10 minutes added to the dub movie was not added to the movie on the DVD but in a special features section. Could somebody please upload it? I just wanted to see what moments 4kids chose from each series to include with the movie.

Correction, the 10 minute part was added onto the movie, it flat out lies on the back cover saying the extra content is a minute longer, it is actually 10 minutes shorter (extra content being the original version with its minor visual changes and somewhat major music ones). The 10 minute recap is in two places on the DVD, as a special feature and added onto the beginning just like how it was in the theater (which was pretty awesome).

As for why the town clock, this is actually a pretty major area in Domino City, the center of the whole city. It is where Kaiba starts Battle City, as well as the places you listed already. It is pretty much the defining venue of Domino City.

I found a rip of the UK DVD online, I'm going to watch it, since I have no intention of importing something that won't play on my Blu-Ray player. I'll update once I watch it.

Ah I see cos I haven't gotten the dvd yet and from the rip that I D/L it doesn't have the recap at the beginning of the movie. Originally when it was announced there would be 10 more minutes to the US release I thought they were able to obtain footage made for but unused in the movie.

For those wondering if there were any edits, the following were edited for the english version:
    -All the cards (of course)
-The first news articles are translated in their entirety, the later one about Pegasus (the one with the Crashtown pendant) is edited to only show the destruction and Pegasus, and the vast majority of the text is blurred english, instead of translated as the frist few
-Pretty much any other japanese text is erased and replaced

I found the recap funny. While nice, it seemed to imply that Kaiba wanted to take over the world. It was good otherwise.

EDIT: GoldenUmi or Lance, what do you use to change around the soundtrack? I'm in the process of ripping the audio off the english movie and was going to try to make a dual-audio file so I won't have to have so much space on my HD taken up...

So, I finally got around to watching the English movie today. A friend and I were MSNing loling about it.

And...I almost cried. It was just...let's just say that in the times where no music played, or the characters didn't talk out of turn, I was so happy I could have lit up the entire room. The conversations got butchered to crap (The roof scene with Jud - NO - Jaden, and Yusei was horrendously altered, just as one example). I also just realized that Jaden's voice really doesn't suit him. If it was slightly higher pitched and didn't sound as forced, it would have been fine. Paradoz's (inside joke my friend and I developed whilst watching; I made up a whole list for her) dub voice wasn't actually that bad. And interestingly enough, some of the music honestly wasn't that bad - though I still prefer the original score.

There were a few points where I genuinely laughed ("You are one sick puppy!" "Stardust Mirage, OH NO!"), but then again, I suppose nowadays the only purpose of 4Kids dubs is to laugh at them. Overall, the dub version made me cringe, laugh, and cry simultaneously. I'm still trying to remember where my Mind Bleach is.

Well, I'm just using the movie file (with its audio being that BGM-removed mix of all the audio tracks that I worked on), and then timing and adding the BGM in Movie Maker (for now; once I get to finalizing a version, I'm using Vegas to work with the BGM). GU might have better tips for ripping the audio tracks, though.

I would rather just give you the tracks because its too complicated to try and explain step by step. Not to mention I can't discuss where to get some of the things needed to do it.

Well I don't really need it anymore, I figured it out. I just ripped the audio then used mkvmerge. The only issue is 4kids may have added lip flaps or something, as both times I've tried syncing it, it's either out of sync near the beginning or end...

I had some time, so here are the lyrics to makemagic from the official UK DVD.

    Jealkb – makemagic
Official Lyrics from the Manga UK DVD/BD

I can’t say what I want to say. Frustrating.
I want to change, but I can’t change. Futile.

*Now be brave and keep hope alive. Throw away your past and pray for the future.
Take my hand so that we can cheer each other up.
Why don’t you try to control the light?

All by myself on a scary night. Lonely.
I’m so scared that I can’t take a step. Scary.

Are you going to wait here and do nothing?
You can change. I’ll make you up until you shine.

Smooth skin, cherry lips, charming cute face.
Glittering nails, decorating your hair. Now you’re beautiful.
    Can I hug you?

I can’t be who I want to be. Sad.
My negative feelings don’t stop. Negative.

Are you giving up on what you believe in?
You can be tough. I’ll make you up in magic.

Silky skin, Glossy lips, Sweet fruit smell.
Pearly eyes, Devilish waves. Now you’re beautiful.
    Can I hug you?

Smooth skin, cherry lips, charming cute face.
Glittering mails, decorating your hair. Now you’re beautiful.
    I want to hug you.

Silky skin, Glossy lips, Sweet fruit smell.
Pearly eyes, Devilish waves. Now you’re beautiful.
    Can I hug you?

*Note: On the DVD, the last chorus is a repeat of the first chorus. A little warning for those who want to time this to a raw.
    Everybody do the Colin!!

So...I ended up realizing that certain scenes were redrawn in the dub version. I only noticed 3 scenes, but there's possibly more. I screen capped them for comparison sake.

I have no clue why they redrew this scene; and to be frank, it looks like shit.

Again, no idea why they couldn't just have him laughing, as opposed to saying "Excellent!"

Okay, so this change isn't too bad, though I wonder where Paradox's hair went in the dub.

For the first one, I like the dub one (weather it be the original one or the redrawn), second the dub as well, while the third is an obvious original, the hair is quite an eye soar to be missing.

Wait...wasn't the version that aired in Japanese theaters/was shown in 5D's' endings the one that got touched up on the DVD? If those dub shots are from the UK DVD, then 4Kids probably just used that version to dub and/or they weren't given the touched-up version. If Yugi still has his jacket on while he's putting his Duel Disk on in the UK DVD, then that's probably the case.

I-I think I like the originals better.

I can't say for sure about the jacket thing (is it the part where all 3 of them activate the Disks?), I do know that the version I have is a rip of the UK DVD. The file reads, "YuGiOh 10th Anniversary Bonds Beyond Time [UK PAL] [ENG]." Not sure if that's helpful in any way.

I like the original to the first the best. The second one is a bit debatable, because Paradox's face looks better drawn. It just irks me that they couldn't have him laugh. The 3rd one's a bit tricky; I like the way Atemu is drawn in both, but I slightly prefer the Dub touch up. Paradox's face and overall body is drawn better, but again, where the **** did his hair go?

Heh, probably should've worded that a bit better. Yep, it's that three-way split screen where all three activate their Disks. IIRC, the theater version had his jacket sleeve showing when he'd already gone into Atem mode and put his jacket over his back, and it got fixed on the Japanese DVD.

Ah. I don't recall seeing that sleeve error...on either version. I have both the Japanese and the English.

I think we also found only these 3 redrawn scenes once the original was available for online watching. Don't think there were more. And as back then, now I'll again say I prefer the original. Especially for the first one. In the dub version Dark Yugi looks one idea more massive.

That was corrected for the dub's theatrical run (as far as I can remember) and for the the DVD versions. Have to search for the comparison image.

Any idea why they would redraw those, however? The second one had him talking as opposed to laughing, so I can see that one, but I don't see any reason to redraw the other two. Especially since the end result in the first one was pure shit in comparison to the original.

I don't have clear idea, but may be in order to say "Screw You!" to 4KID'S and their version. Dunno.

Who knows, just probably make some touch-ups as a 'why not' since its been over a year now for it to be finally released so they had the time.

.....something tells me that these "touchup" images were just the original masters and not the Japanese DVD masters

I saw both sub, and dub versions and my conclusion is that I liked the subbed version better then the dubbed version because it gives you a more accurate understanding of what changed between the both of them.

Hmmm......for me it is. I like the original better. Wonder of Judai has some touch-ups.
