Well, Amazon UK has taken out my money, so I guess my DVD of the dub with the sub (it was confirmed to be in it from the reviews I have read) should be on its way starting Monday.

Guess I have something to look forward to, August 15 is when this is supposed to arrive ... I guess that is what I get for ordering the UK version from the Southern United States.

@ Nike - We may try to do that at some point in the future.

Well, payment is going through on my bank account. I have no idea if it's actually shipped out yet, though.

    1) Terror - GX Sound Duel 2, Track 35
    2) Mystery - 5D's Sound Duel 3, Disc 1, Track 9
    3) A Serious SOS - 5D's Sound Duel 3, Disc 1, Track 16

Probably should've made the beginning of "Terror" a bit louder... Anyway, like I said before, you'll hear a quick second or two of the original BGM in some spots, so don't mind that too much, lol (also, some of the added SFX might sound a bit off during the Stardust tuning [I blame Movie Maker]). Also, some of the subs (which are GU's and Horoko's, just revised a bit by me) might lag, since I had to add a negative delay to the audio in Virtualdub to synch it up a bit, and I only did a quick retime in Aegisub. Whenever the versions are ready to get released, I'll retime the script to fit the moved audio.

Enjoy, guys. If I'm not too busy this weekend, I'll get the next sample done by tomorrow or Sunday.

I have to say Terror is the better choice. I like Mystery of the Millennium Kingdom, but it doesn't really work that well in this opening scene, I think. Terror fits much better, being its a GX scene.

Good choices, Lance. I think it fit for me, though a better 5D's track may go for Paradox's assault. Any ideas?

Mako, you actually might've, lol. Still, since Terror's one of my favorite GX tracks, I wanted to throw that in somewhere, so I figured I'd try it at the beginning. Aside from being a bit too low for now, it did work pretty well, haha. And yeah, I'm trying to go with the idea of using a series' tracks in their respective scenes, with a mix of all three during the duel.

Huh...good points. This is all just me testing stuff out, though, and I wanted to see how "A Serious SOS" would work just for kicks. XD I mean, it kinda works for when Paradox approaches, but yeah, the stealing scene, not that much. Hmm...maybe I could let it end or get to one of the ending notes and go right to "Yliaster Battle Mode." I was also thinking of having "Attack of the Mechlord Emperors" or good ol' "Enemy Attack" going there. I'll test 'em out.

Yeah, Movie Maker kept tricking me with the volume in some spots, lol. Whenever the final stuff's ready to get mixed, I'll give Sony Vegas a try with it; I'm just using WMM for the tests.

Might be worth a shot. Except, we'd probably only have DM music to work with, since GX and 5D's haven't had much, if at all, of their dub soundtracks released.

Those are two very awesome suggestions, I definitely would love to hear those tracks. That might work perfectly.

Might as well try doing the whole "track replacement" thing going on here (I know I'm late. Don't hate!)

Here's my little change. Dailymotion embedding likes to be a b!tch, so just click here.

As for the UK DVD/BD, can anyone who has/will be receiving the DVD/BD confirm that the English track has 5.1 audio? If it does, I would love to have an mp3 with voices only.

If you guys mean for Paradox's Assault later and not the Stardust scene (which I thought GU was talking about, lol), then those could probably fit in there. Haven't thought about what I'd put for his assault yet, actually, but I'll figure something out as I look through all the songs.

Interesting choice there, since I was planning to use that for the flashback to the article Judai and Yusei found, haha. It kinda fits, but...I dunno, it feels a bit off to me while Yugi and the others are shouting, lol.

Actually, I was referring to the first scene where he steals Stardust. It could work later as well though.

That's the sound of Duelist Kingdom's casual strategic tension right there. Nice placement, it does work.

Ah, okay. Hmm...I'll give 'em a shot soon and put up a clip.

Meanwhile, here's the looked-over first clip with "Enemy Attack" put in, along with the next test clip going back into Judai's era:

    Spoiler: Songs
    1) Enemy Attack - Yutaka Minobe, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 1 Track 21
    2) Tension - Yutaka Minobe/Wall 5 Project, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 2, Disc 2 Track 12
    3) The Big Quake - Yutaka Minobe/Wall 5 Project, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 2, Disc 1 Track 25
    4) A Desperate Situation - Yutaka Minobe, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Sound Duel 2 Track 38

Enemy attack doesn't fit there in my opinion. Tension and Big Quake I liked, though. Good choices. A Desperate Situation was okay, but I don't like many of the random GX tracks, so I have no real comment.

No prob. I might just keep "Enemy Attack" for my version, though, since I think it fits alright. But if anything, we could just go with a re-looped "Jose" there. And for "A Desperate Situation", I liked how it came out, though I was originally thinking of using it or ol' "Sad Duel" there.

And since I forgot to post it, here's the next test clip with Judai and Yusei on the roof (like I said before, "Evil Move" [the short song towards the end]'ll be kept):

Song: "Mystery of the Duel"; GX Sound Duel 2, Track 9

I think I might have to go back and look into that last bit's mixing at some point, since it sounds a bit off to me for some reason. (But that might be just me, lol.)

My DVD from MangaUk just arrived. According to the DVD case it has the Japanese movie subbed.
And "English, Japanese Stereo 2.0, 5.1 English" so I hope this answers your questions.

Edit - Just opened it up to find my advertised free Red-Eyes card, it's the Ultra rare one from then cinema showing "Mov 2". But no little film booklet or anything just a card and the DVD.

Just got my DVD now. Disappointing that the free card is Malefic Red Eyes (I thought it would have been a different one but whatever).

Basically you get the movie in English with all it's 4Kids altering of the cards and so on.

Then in the Extras section is the Japanese film which is as the original (so Japanese cards and layout etc. Obviously because the film is so short they can put it one as two separate sections). I've not watched it properly but when skimming through the sub I noticed that they say Malefic instead of Sin (despite Paradox obviously saying Sin) The song at the end is subbed too.

As well as that, the Extras feature the movie trailer and the recap section that was shown in the cinema.

So, while not ram jammed with goodies, for 7 I think it is quite a good offering (if only Manga UK was involved with all Yugioh releases).

I think that is as good as it can get so you should be very pleased.
Also its nice to include the recap showed in the cinema i have been wanting to watch it, i want to know how they can recap the 3 series in just 10 mins.

@Lance - Is it just me, or is there a slight echo around the voices?

Also, I knew that the subtitles would use English card names, something I get a bit annoyed by. I do understand the meaning behind it, though. Still, I don't regret having our subbed version and the official subbed version in my collection for alternate viewings.

EDIT: As I predicted, someone has uploaded the DVD onto Asian DVD Club, a private tracker. I bought the Blu-Ray, but I can get the DVD and we may get better tracks from the UK version for both the Japanese version and the dub version.

That's good news. At least we'll be able to work with the dub the same way we are with the Japanese version, and hopefully the SFX and stuff are better split. But if the Japanese track really is just stereo, it probably won't help us out as much. =/

For the parts with the noise-removal, that's that slightly-hollow thing I mentioned before, lol. Everywhere else, I'm not sure why it came out like that. But I figure it's just the crisper DVD-quality sound, since it's the same with the audio in that DVD rip I encoded for GX 86.

I have heard you might, but the region lock would more likely than not prevent you from playing either. Other Sony products are better at bypassing the lock.

I guess I should cancel my order since it can't play on my PS3.
Maybe the Dvd will play on my regular dvd player.

Depends, is it region free. Most are nowadays so you might be in luck.

It should be but I'm still gonna cancel the blu-ray and just get the regular dvd instead.

I really wanted the Blu-Ray version too.

Yeah, I had to change my order to the DVD too, but it was because I was suspecting my laptop wouldn't be able to play it. And well, my laptop is my only bluray player I have now. Weird too since I have about 12 BluRay titles.

Well, I’m currently downloading the UK DVD from ADC. I’m able to preview a bit of the movie with VLC and see what’s up and all, so here’s my little pre-review of it.

First of all, the menu plays the YGO! theme and plays scenes from the movie in the background.

The first thing I noticed is that the colors seem a bit duller compared to the R2J DVD and that it looks a bit blurry (which was expected, since nothing beats R2J quality.) It might be just VLC playing tricks on me, though.

The UK DVD used the Original Theatrical Master of the movie. I immediately noticed it when I saw a shot of Paradox and then comparing it to the R2J DVD. The Japanese version also uses this version. The only big differences between both versions on the UK DVD are the cards, paint edits, title screen and the credits. I’ll probably do screenshot comparisons between the UK DVD and the R2J DVD when I get this thing downloaded completely. To add, you HAVE to access the Japanese version via the extras. You can't just go select "Play All", change the audio and toggle the subtitles on.

The audio is in 5.1 English and 2.0 Japanese, and from what I can tell, the audio doesn’t suffer from NTSC to PAL conversion. Not judging the video yet.

Subtitles are white and use the English card names. It does use Japanese naming (i.e. Judai Yuki instead of Jaden Yuki)

I’m currently not able to view the extras but apparently it has the movie trailer and the recap.

As soon as I finish downloading it, I'll go ahead and dissect it. This is gonna be fun!!

Only 2.0 for the Japanese? Theatrical master?

Not really complaining or anything, but I can now say 100% that I don't regret buying the Japanese DVD. At least I have access to both versions of the movie and our music project can happen.

That is 2.0 for the DVD, there is no knowing what you can have with the BluRay.

I can't burn blu-rays on my computer though. If it is 5.0 on the BD, at least it'll be nice for my viewing pleasure.

    Spoiler: Songs
    1) Enemy Attack - Yutaka Minobe, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 1 Track 21
    2) Tension - Yutaka Minobe/Wall 5 Project, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 2, Disc 2 Track 12
    3) The Big Quake - Yutaka Minobe/Wall 5 Project, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Sound Duel 2, Disc 1 Track 25
    4) A Desperate Situation - Yutaka Minobe, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Sound Duel 2 Track 38

Dude. That was freaking perfect. Sorry for not getting back to you faster. Tension was freaking perfect for that scene. I love it. The Big Quake was a great one too.

And I LOVED Desperate Situation. Omg, I can't believe I didn't think of that track. That was so goddamn perfect for that. Thank you!!!! I love your choices there. They made me fangasm there. You used some of my favorite music pieces in those spots.

Your use of "Mystery of the Duel" was good too. Overall those choices you made were very awesome. Thank you!

There we are. I just finished watching my deliciously-subbed UK Blu-Ray (thanks, Manga Entertainment!). I'll write a full review tomorrow, but I can safely say this: how can any YGO fan not have a huge smile on their face all the way through this movie?

Oh, and to add, the subtitles on the DVD are HARDSUBBED!

And I thought I've seen everything....

Ok, NOW I've seen everything. It's STARDUST MIRAGE, not Starter's Mirage!!! *rant over*
I'll stick to the R2J DVD.

    WHAT? That's absurd...

Well, I guess we should appreciate getting an official sub at all, but the very idea of subtitles being HARDSUBBED on an official DVD release makes me so glad I bought the original.

Guys sorry to be late for this but i also had been working on the BGM in the movie since all of you started to do so. However i lack the skills to do it perfectly thats why i only want to propose my ideas and show them to you so someone more skillful can execute them better than me. I used the no BGM audio posted by GoldenUmi on his website (ty very much), an .avi spanish hardsubbed version of the dvd (cause my software didnt allow .mp4 nor blu ray dunno why). Quality is not very good cause i had to encode it 2 times for mistakes i have done but still watchable.

I made 2 changes on the BGM
1- Kuriboh saves the day song--> Duel of friendship. Its my favorite fits so well, i like it much more than the original.
2- Yusei last turn shooting spiral sonic--> Clear mind. Also fits very well, it just has to be done.

    Here it is:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNB2lq2a27Q

So if any of you working on the project also liked this changes i hope this is useful somehow and i would really like if you ended up using this songs.

Is this due to a software, or a hardware problem? As in, can your computer normally run them?

Thanks for the feedback, man. Yeah, I just knew Tension'd work there, and I love how it came out (plus, it's another favorite, so I wanted to use it, lol). Same for The Big Quake, which I knew would work great once Paradox popped onto the screen. And A Desperate Situation was the first track I thought of for that scene, haha (but I thought about putting this unreleased one in there; I think it might work almost as good, but ADS just works so well). And I was originally planning to go with Agonizing Heart, but since ADS ended right at the scene switch, I didn't think it'd work as well timing-wise, so I went with the next-best choice. Good thing the noise-removal got rid of "Suppressed Thought" pretty nicely, lol.

That's good to hear. Guess I can stop worrying about someone complaining that it doesn't sound perfect now, haha.

Well, "Duel of Friendship" was already being considered, so chances are it might be used in at least one version. As for "Clear Mind"...I dunno, personally, I feel like it should just go with Accel Synchro scenes, but again, an insert song might be used in one of the versions. Just not really sure which I'd go with to get all three series covered.

BTW, my next test clip for some DM stuff'll come over the weekend, once I get GX 89 out in the next few days.

Clear Mind won't fit in this movie. Going My Way or Believe In Nexus might work, though.

@GLL99 - Due to the bad thunderstorm in my town that caused my PC, TV and phone to die, I was just now able to see the latest samples you put there. I have to admit I pretty much like those choices, although I still think the scene from 0:56 to 1:42 in the second clip should be silent. But otherwise the choices are all good. I'm still not too much into 5D'S and GX tracks, but those sound good.

I almost ****ing cried watching that re-scored clip. "Duel Of Friendship" was one of my favorite pieces from the original. It's so beautiful and fitting.

Now I can finally write a review of the movie, long after everybody else has already seen it and got over it. This review is dedicated to whoever it was who, against a proud Konami/4Kids tradition of protesting that subbed YGO can't be released outside Japan because blablabla&etc, stood up and said "Not this time!" and melted the subbed version onto the UK DVD with the sheer power of their will. I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but the official subbed title was "Super Fusion! Bonds Beyond Time and Space".

Well, you certainly can't say there's a wasted moment in this movie. It's pretty much balls-to-the-walls YGO-ness. The duel is a lot of fun, and the lack of turns doesn't show at all, because each turn is so significant and cinematic. The Sin deck is a conceptually-interesting archetype and Sin World makes a truly beautiful setpiece for the battle. As does Venice in the earlier scene, and there's clearly no reason for Judai to be in Italy other than for the picturesqueness. Works for me. Junk Gardna and Neos Knight are surprisingly bland-looking monsters considering they're two of the protagonists' shiny new cards though.

Paradox is, needless to say, the perfect villain for this movie. At the anime's tenth anniversary, he represents all those who despise children wasting their time and money on card games, those who don't see the point. The heroes represent the freedom to choose to duel. Everything about Paradox is a paradox, from his use of Duel Monsters to destroy Duel Monsters to his embrace of Sin World to stop the sins of mankind, and even in his costume which seems to be made of the clothes of various past villains. In a perfect world, he'd have been given more detailed backstory. Even in a non-perfect world, we should have at least got a few more lines explaining why he needed to steal powerful cards from history and why he needed to kill Pegasus at that point. Just because we fans usually have to assume some ******** about 'duel energy' solving everything doesn't mean we should.

There's been some complaints about the soundtrack, and I thought it was surprisingly subdued up until the duel. From then on though, it kicks ass. Ho-ly crap, dat Light and Dark segment. Ditto Bonds of the Three. I can even bear the inferior GX version of Passionate Duelists in this situation. On the level of the fact that they had three series, all with amazing soundtracks, to choose tracks from, then yes -- it's disappointing. They should have used at least one track from DM, considering it has the best soundtrack of all three series. But if you go in blind and forget that they could have used stuff like Fang of Critias and Wrath of God, then it's hard to be disappointed. Besides, it looks like now we fans can replace the soundtrack to our hearts' content (your Duel of Friendship is a perfect fit, Goesasu).

I suppose if I were to be a bit less loving I'd have to point out that 50 minutes is a pathetic running time (even if it keeps things fresh), and the meeting of the three protagonists goes smoothly without any interesting conflict or surprises at all. If this had been a full-length movie, it would have been the ultimate love-letter to YGO fans. As it is, it doesn't really have the content to reach that high category.

I haven't watched the dub movie. I might do at some point, but I can make a pretty accurate guess of what it's like, especially considering the clips I've seen of it: it takes the usual current 4Kids dub route of keeping the plot about the same but steadfastly refusing to be a direct translation, it has a strange habit of taking itself too seriously when it shouldn't and not taking itself seriously enough when it should, its soundtrack sets the scene but isn't something you'd care to have on your iPod, its voice-acting is high quality but the dialogue is the definition of cringeworthy and lets the actors down, and it has two primary audiences -- children aged 7-12 and members of PlaytheDamnCard. Unfortunately, [?] I am neither of those things.

Maybe the protagonists of the next three anime will meet up someday too. Looking at Zexal, I really doubt I'll be around for that.
