Actually, I thought they woudn't edit the movie of this way: they don't edited the counters, Dark Magician Girl's hexagram, Aki, Yubel... I thought they had only edited the cards because the law and the logo at the beginning. It's apparent Paradox's monsters give damage to the people and to the place around them like for Judai in Venice. So why edit? The edit is a little weird.

Those look more like executive edits, meaning the shots were redrawn in Japan for quality reasons. At least, if I am understanding the left as the Japanese, right as the English. It it is the other way around, then it was done for DVD reasons and the English DVD will probably have the same edits.

My guess is the international movie had the original, the release has the touched up version, sort of like a lot of the dub has the DVD-quality release videos. The international might get it when it's released.

Thanks for the clarification. That seems a little weird in the sense where It don't change the idea of this scene: Yugi feel damages. Even If the two versions had some littles differences but the movie is always the same. That's which counts.

(I am not sure if they recorded in 5.1, and if that would make a difference even).
I don't have my Summer Wars, yet. (Will pick up eventually)

Anyone experienced with 5.1 audio can tell right away. If I turn out wrong, then maybe it's because it's a 3D movie. But notice in this movie how the audio seems to come at you from a different part of the screen than the dialogue. This is something only 5.1 audio can do, something you will never see in 2.1. What it is is 5 different tracks, one having the dialogue, one having the music and one having the sfx. The remaining two are for extra emphasis on extra scenes such as explosions, helicopters, etc.

What it is is essentially making some noise only heard on, say, the left side of your screen. Or if someone is talking offscreen, you will only hear them on, say, the right side. This creates a much more realistic approach and helps draw you into its "world" better.

On the YT version, the dialogue and music seemed to mesh. I hope that doesn't indicate it might be 2.1 (as most anime TV is). At least with the Blu Ray we have a large certainty it will be 5.1, as they rarely release HD movies with low quality sound. For reference, a copy of Iron Giant, made in 1999, has 5.1 audio. Why in Japan they make DVDs in quality less is anyone's guess (rhyme not intended).

The issue with the Youtube version is the audio's frequency is very low. I increased it by 10 and it sounds a lot better to my ears.

Well, Idon't know. Maybe it worked better for me because I never watched the original DM, only watched it in dub. Tried watching and it bore me to death. However, I do love the music, mainly the violin pieces.

I just didn't like how they handled the scene on Yusei remembering everyone. The music just didn't fit, at least the dramatic choir fit really well (and I notice there's more silent moments and sound effects in the dub rather than the original). And the 'Yusei, Yusei, Yusei' thing was kinda blegh, like, original focused more on Yusei and didn't show enough personality of Yugi and Judai. As someone said, felt like a 5D's ep and was all 'Ohai Yugi and Judai' and that's it. And also, they did way more than just guitar riff's, it had more quantity on music using GX's and DM's, and new songs mixed in.

Just felt too emotionless for me..

    Surely you're kidding me... oO

Even if done right in the dub here, most of the time they take silence out.

Just watched the raws. Very entertaining and nostalgic.

I found it odd that the ending theme had Speed Warrior shown when it didn't actually appear in the movie itself. Meh.

It felt too dramatic, so it was kinda hammy and voices weren't anything too special for me. I still agree music is amazing, Passionate Duelist gets me hyped all the time. All the music score is good though but I don't like the OPs and EDs at all of DM.

Well yeah, the dub did take out some moments that were supposed to be silent. I liked the silence better on the part I talked about on Yusei and his friends instead of hearing them go "hm, hmph, heh, hee" and such. That part was pure silence in dub with the choir that played great. And really, it's sorta urking me that people just hear the guitar riffs. The only parts that had the riffs were parts with Yusei and Judai because that's their dub music. But the rest has been some good orchestral and choir while the original used music that didn't fit for the movie feel.

For me, it felt too much on stoic with everything in original's quality, they're just all 'Oh a villain, let's take them down'

I really don't get this logic. The original is supposed to be dramatic. If anything is "hammy", it's the dub version... As for your comment on Yugi and Judai not being given any character, I argue that statement. Whatever concept you have of their character in the dub version is completely not in character at all.

And for those who said the script is near same to the original... the COMPLETELY rewrote Paradox's dialogue in the middle here.

This explains why 5D's had awful to average animation for about 30 episodes. :V I mean, dayum. They got everyone working on this movie. @__@"

Not trying to apply this to Yugioh logic, perhaps the movie creates a more fluid storyline when lowered down in target. Perhaps.

(I haven't started looking into it, but I doubt any of us really have).

Paradox in the dub I feel is a much better played role that takes full advantage of what the voice actor can dish out. I don't feel any changed dialogue can mess that up.
Your example is comparing something already aimed at kids with something originally aired at teens and then forced to be aimed at kids. There's a vast difference.

Imagine if you took a teen Hollywood movie and tried to make it into a kid's movie. This is the same thing.

The original version had Paradox talking about many things about the world in general such as war and contradictions while the dub just crams Duel Monsters is bad down our throats. Of course that is what the original implies as well and says, but Paradox gets into some deep dialogue about his observations of the world and the hypocrisy of the people that inhabit it. This is, as usual, all left out in the dub. Because kids can't handle such deep and truthful dialogue.

Well, first I deleted my post for the reason the comparison was bad.

Second, Yugioh isn't a teen show, at least not such that changing the target a few ages changes the material the worst way possible. Worse dumb downs have been done in history and have been great (Alladin, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, etc.) Yugioh isn't at the level those original stories mentioned is at. Believe it or not, it is still made for kids. By changing the demo, it is really only changing from a 9-14, to a 6-14. As many call it, 6-14 is a double demo. Now what is shown in these demos is different per culture, but the show is always aimed at these young demos.

    Gratitudes for this, Jake.
Now that's what I call a COLLABORATION. Too bad there aren't any movie character settei/sketches. I want to see some very badly. xD
Anyway, this should definitely go in the first post!

I second Sillva's post, also, YA DAMN RIGHT KAGAMI'S THE CHIEF! Because he is very boss-v-, see what I did there? Also, I can't wait to get this movie myself^^. I wonder though, I'm conflicted on which version to get. Should I get subbed, dubbed, or both just for the heck of it?

Shonen is aimed at 9-14, yes, but in actual reality, and as recorded often, Shonen is viewed by the 9-17 range. The card game would probably knock that down more to 9-16 or so, but my point still stands. And 5D's would definitely reach that teen range.

The point is that you don't take something aimed with a range like that and have it made to be viewed by 6 year olds. Or at least make a proper uncut dub. If the DVD/Blu-ray version is not changed, it is still not doing what they need to start freaking doing. They need to give the audience a change to view the original script and stop forcing people to watch their watered down version.

Your comparison about Disney movies is good, but it still doesn't apply here. That's taking a folklore and making it into a movie. This is dubbing an already existing movie into something else it is not. I'm not saying kids movies can't be good, but only when they were made that way to begin with. Dub Yu-Gi-Oh! takes away meaningful conversation and tramples all over it. I argue your point about changing Paradox's lines as well. By removing many of his lines here, they have changed the feeling he gives off as a scientist to simply being another random villain.

Thing is, that 9-17 range is only hypothetical, the big guys in business over in Japan don't tell the licensor to target the high age group. Perhaps it has to do with market research proving the 9-14 is more marketable. I am not sure. Either way, 4kids dubs for 6-14 as it must be more profitable. Also, if you were to aim at a range of 9-17, a lot of what is at the top, isn't necessarily suitable for what is at the bottom. It isn't such a nice double demo as compared to a 6-11, 9-14 double demo.

In an interview from 2008, Tom Wayland told a disgruntle fan that no company wants to make edits they don't have to. Assuming this was in effect for the movie, anything that was edited (seems to be minor line changes) had reason. What that reason is, anyone's guess.

Btw, here's another edited scene. I wonder what makes me notice these things. xD

Still here the edit isn't that noticeable. For some people a very close peer at it will be needed in order to see the changes.
These people just so much love to edit Dark Yugi. o.o

I think, for the most part, Yugioh IS aimed at the same age group here. The issue is, as you said, is what's suitable for the upper part of the range would be inappropriate (standard-wise) for those in the lower ranges. Since 4Kids would rather stretch yugioh across the board, aiming at those younger fans, while still trying to please older fans, it has to make the vast majority of the edits it does. It's an issue a lot of animes encounter in the US, as things are either to violent, or too childish when some of the content is edited. It's one of the reasons that series like Detective Conan, while popular in Japan, was a flop here, because it had to be shown on adult-swim to keep the content.

But as for any comments specifically about the dub and sub, I'll continue to wait to see both...then comment on them. It sounds like the dub is pretty good, so I'm excited to watch both. Did the dub movie at least use some of the music 4Kids used in DM? It seemed a lot better than some of their more generic stuff in 5D's...and GX always seemd to just have rip cords and rehashs of get you game on.

As for hamminess, YGO is hammy in both Japanese and English. In the Japanese version it's hammy in the traditional anime style, where they repeat names over and over and say "This is..." a lot. The English dub is hammy in the "We're going to say 'oh no' 9001 times and then refuse to allow tension to exist by talking about cake" sense. I'll take the former.

I could go on with a list of things, but the one that sticks out the most is Jonouchi and Honda talking about a dream about tapioca pudding and a monkey from the Battle Ship arc.

In any case, I translated up until Pegasus got a building dropped on him:

    Spoiler:
    Whew, close call!
    I summon Neos!
Judai Yuki, the exceptional duelist capable of controlling Spirits...
It's an honor that I've made such a name for myself.
The incident on the streets is his doing-nya.
The missing monsters are pretty much all here, so there's no doubt about it.
Plus, the jerk made the monsters real, to boot!
Don't let down your guard. I can sense an extraordinary power coming from his deck.
My objective in this era is already accomplished.
    This era!?
    Now you will begone.
This is it! This is what was really behind that huge amount of energy!
A state of emegerency has been declared.
    --Run!
    --Hurry!
    Had that same dream, eh?
It becomes virtually obvious whenever we find you coming here.
My old man's research destroyed this city once before.
But, Zero Reverse was not your fault.
What could you, a baby at the time, have done about it?
He's right. On the contrary, all of us helped save this city ourselves.
    Yeah, I know.
We duel for times like this.
    Let's hang loose!
    Right.
The peace of Neo Domino City that we finally retreived...
No matter what happens, I will protect this city!
The hell is with that huge D-Wheel?
He has guts challenge us to a duel!
Hey, you guys. How about you leave this duel to me.
    Fine by me.
Sure, we're counting on ya, Yusei!
    Duel Mode, on.
    Riding Duel, Acceleration!
10th Anniversary Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Super Fusion! Bonds that Transcend Time
The attacks are getting made real!
Yeah, but, Yusei's field is perfect.
Now put the finishing touch on this!
Clustering wishes will become a new, shining star!
Become the path its light shines upon!
    Synchro Summon!
    Take flght! Stardust Dragon!
    What!? A white card!?
    Impossible! Stardust Dragon...
    ...just got sucked...
    ...right into his card?
Yusei Fudo, I'll be taking your Stardust.
Fall to ruin along with your era!
    What was that?
    Hey! Wait!
What in the world happened back there!?
That vanishing act was no joke!
    He knew my name.
Which means he had been after Stardust from the start.
    Yusei.
    Aki, Rua, Ruka.
    What do you want?
We don't have time to sit and entertain you guys right now.
Oh, come on! We just landed a big scoop!
    What did you find?
We were researching the history of Duel Monsters when we found this...
Quite an old article you got there.
I know this man. He's President of Industrial Illusions, Pegasus J. Crawford.
He's the creator of Duel Monsters.
Who's the guy there with him?
That would be the duelist once said to be the strongest in Duel Monsters history, Yugi Mutou.
It was rumored that he had the soul of the Nameless Pharaoh.
    Amazing!
What I would give to fight him once...
    I suppose so,
seeing as how it's impossible without a time slip or something.
You came here to show us this?
No, look at the next article.
    Stardust Dragon!
What is it doing in their era!?
That's what I was gonna ask!
    Okay, let's see...
"Dragons that have suddenly been appearing all over Europe have been assaulting duelists one after another"...
    Huh? What the 'ell?
Stardust Dragon was brought to the past...
    And it's assaulting duelists, too...
I've never even heard of this absurd piece of history.
    The masked man from before!
    Huh? What is it?
    What is that!?
    The city is...dissolving...
    Why?
This is just my conjecture, but it might be that history is starting to change due to Stardust appearing in the past.
    That's crazy talk!
    Our city...is crumbling away.
Fall to ruin along with your era!
    I see! It's his doing!
The Crimson Dragon birthmark is on his back!
    Yusei's D-Wheel is glowing!
    The Crimson Dragon's power?
    Yusei!
The Crimson Dragon is calling me!
Crimson Dragon, take me to where Stardust is!
    Let's go!
    What is that white dragon!?
Judai Yuki, here is where you shall be eliminated.
    Shooting Sonic!!
    Neos!
    Stardust Dragon!
So, you travelled across time after me, did you?
    Damn you!
    Looks as we've been interrupted.
Judai, I've spent enough time on you.
This era, too, shall fall to ruin from my grand experiment.
    What was that!?
    Wait!
    Will you be all right?
    Yeah, they're just scratches.
So, just to make sure, you came through a time slip from the future, using the power of a Spirit, in pursuit of that white dragon the guy in the oddball mask stole...
    ...is that about the gist?
That's correct. I know it sounds hard to believe...
I believe! Travelling through time is the kinda stuff that gets me pumped, you know!
    Um, err..
    My name is Yusei Fudo.
I'm Judai Yuki! Nice to meet'cha!
By the way, it's been bugging me to ask, but is that a Duel Disk from the future?
    Oh. Yes.
    Awesome! It's evolved that much!?
I bet you want to ride it-nya, huh, Judai-kun?
Hey, I told ya not to show up without warning.
    You'll freak Yusei out!
Seeing us won't be enough to freak him out.
He also has strong Spirit powers in him-nya.
    You must mean this birthmark.
It means you're a duelist chosen by the Duel Monsters as well.
By the way, why were you and that guy fighting?
Lately, there's been a spring of incidents of Duel Monsters cards going missing around here...
I had went in pursuit of the cause and that's when I encountered him.
    Judai-san.
    I must retrieve Stardust Dragon.
If we just leave that man be, then my city...
    ...no, not just my city!
History will be thrown out of whack and the world will meet its doom!
Judai-san! Please lend me a hand!
Of course! I'll be damned if I back out now after getting run through the ringer like I have!
    Thank you very much.
So, how are we supposed to find him?
He's probably gone into the past.
Yes, that is why there must be a distortion somewhere in history that would even show up in records from this era.
Now I get it. All we have to do is find that distorted recollection!
Thank goodness that bag you hid is in one piece-nya!
Maybe we can find that article if we access the Manjoume Group's database...
    And there we are!
What a disaster! This was his goal!
    If this should really happen...!
    Don't tell me...
    Neos is disappearing!
This is what you were talking about!?
    Let's hurry!
    Right!
"Domino City Festival: Domino City Duel Cup"
    Look at all these people.
It's because Peagsus is coming as a special guest for today's dueling tournament.
Sorry to keep you waiting, everyone!
    Introducing President of Industrial Illusions!
    Pegasus J. Crawford!
    Hello, everyone!
It pleases me immensely that this Duel Monsters Tournament could be held today, here in this city!
Time for the start of destiny...
Oh-ho! Solid Vision these days sure is making big leaps!
    This isn't Solid Vision!
    Yugi!!
    Grandpa!!
Oh my God! This is terrible!
    Oh nooooo!!
    Grandpa...no...
    Grandpa!!
My grand experiment has been accomplished.
The history of the world shall change.
    Farewell, historic duelists.

And that would be something from 8 years ago. This is more to the movie, where they really didn't add too many comedic moments.

Edit: As with Zexal, do we really need 3+ scripts posted? Not to be rude, bit most benefit more from subs. Once the subs are out, the scripts have no use.

Well that's certainly rude. Speak for yourself. If you don't care about the scripts, don't read them. Most appreciate the hard work and the variety of translations. Don't dismiss them.

Everyone wants to post their translations because ... it helps everyone(more scripts = more/easier accessibility to those who want to know what's going on) and it's fun.

Believe it or not, it is a minor problem we have been having with multiple scripts being used. Now while I understand it takes hard work to make them, and you want to have a reward by posting them here, it could get confusing if there are differences among each one. I would place them in the first post as I do for Zexal, but Arynis who is currently on hiatus has to do that since I cannot edit her post. Having them in the first post alone defeats most of the problems posting multiple scripts can cause.

I'm sorry if I am causing a confusion, there is nothing wrong with posting your script. It is simply this inability to have a single easy to access place to post them that is a bigger problem.

I would hardly say that the Scripts have no use once the Subs are out. They make for easier finding of spoken information then watching the actual episode does. And, I find that with a Script I can just skim over the Sub file anyways - which I have issues seeing as it is.

The different versions of script also allow other people to help with wording and the like so that when the Subs do come out they are as accurate as possible. Not to mention if people want to Sub the work - they are free to and you really shouldn't have issue with stuff you are getting for free.

Posting extra scripts only causes problems for people who aren't paying attention to the obvious fact that the scripts are posted by different people - who, with episodes, usually inidcate what file you need to use as it is. If it is a general script, like the one posted by Horoko, differences between versions don't matter.

    Exactly; and this.

The different versions of script also allow other people to help with wording and the like so that when the Subs do come out they are as accurate as possible. Not to mention if people want to Sub the work - they are free to and you really shouldn't have issue with stuff you are getting for free.
Note, I am also going on what said to me when I inquired about the abundant posting of scripts in Zexal section. Subs are more preferred.

The main issue again is the single place to post them.

But that really isn't an issue. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Ok, then lets wait till we have six people posting scripts, then another 6 posts of these same people posting subs. Now am I going to have to peruse the thread, which could be several pages long as it is now, or could I simply go to the first post and find every one of them?

I love how it's an issue when only Cohen is the one complaining about it.

Cohen, if you want something, you should have no problem looking for it. It is not that difficult to find the information, nor that time consumming.

It is an issue waiting to happen.

Whatever, the issue isn't worth complaining over. If it gets to that point, then it can be dealt with.

My suggestion with scripts is that don't copy paste them from the Sub Program, that way they look like a mess, with a lot of numbers at the begining and we have no clue who said what if we haven't seen the episode.
Can you subbers please make it like a dialogue? that will make people enjoy more the scripts you provide us. (Atleast I will )

Thank you all who are contributing towards subbing/uploading the movie.

at 2.33 on Part 4 there is a flashback showing all of Yusei's supposed friends. Was that actually there in the origanal version of the film that got released in cinemas and who were half of the people there - there were some faces I most certainly do not recognise. Also, where is Rally?
