Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
The problem is, going by the clues, the movie has already occurred in the 5D's anime. Yusei has the Head mark and the Highways exist, so we know it happened in Season 3.The blue pendant from Crash Town has been mentioned in the movie, which means this happened after Crash Town. However, I recall the movie mentioning it's a "magic stone", and we only see that man in Crash Town running away with it and throwing it up the cliff where Yusei is. There could have been rumors about the pendant beforehand, which the man may have had knowledge of. He threw it away for a reason, a reason he didn't want it to get into the possession of his captor. Also, I'm pretty sure Yusei didn't leave Crash Town during that arc, he stayed in town the entire time.
Yusei remembers Bruno (First appeared in Episode 80) and Sherry at one point in the movie.
The team's bikes didn't have the WRGP design on them, either.
So this could mean the following things:
- The movie took place between Episode 80 and before Crash Town.
- The movie took place after Crash Town and before the WRGP.
- The movie took place after the WRGP (if we assume the D-Wheel designs can be changed back to the original).
If we consider the first two options, Paradox has already "been" in the 5D's period (at least in a manner that showed himself to people, like Yusei and co.) and already died in the past by that time. If we consider the last option, the movie's events are yet to happen.
The thing is, Yusei and co. could still alter things in a way that will affect Paradox's future. It has been said that his identity is yet to be revealed, so we may see him before he ended up in the distant future in whatever form, or Yusei and co. affected the circumstances responsible for his origin. However...
Paradox claims he came from the distant future, not from "Neo Domino City", for instance. This seems to imply he is a citizen of the society in the distant future. Or, he was sent to the future by some other means and he doesn't know of it. I don't think Paradox built the time machine until the future got destroyed, unless it's as Makoeyes said and he's been experimenting with the future from the beginning and ends up in a variation of his future where the world was destroyed by Duel Monsters. Perhaps it's his meddling which causes a change in the recent future (in Yusei's present) which then causes said destruction and makes humanity evil. Maybe Yusei and co. will encounter him during such an event? Yusei has knowledge of Paradox at the time while Paradox may have not (unless he knows him from, well, history books). He could intercept Paradox and thus altering the events that would've played out, not resulting in the future being destroyed. However, that would create a Grandfather Paradox - if the future didn't get destroyed because of Duel Monsters, Paradox wouldn't have traveled back in time and encounter the protagonists, thus Yusei would've never learned of him, therefore Yusei wouldn't have stopped Paradox in the first place. Unless Paradox is doing something that would have prompted Yusei to intercept him either way, thus not necessarily making it a paradox.
For how the whole situation works, let me present another example from Chrono Trigger.
There's a part in the game where you need to bring a stone way back in time in order to power it up, with your goal to reclaim it in the distant future when the power-up is finished. You place the stone in 65 million BC. You travel to 2300 AD, expecting to go to pick the stone up... but wait, it's gone! When you go and explore the present (1000 AD), you discover that someone moved the stone away from its place, making it disappear from the future, altering the future.
Paradox is the "stone" in this case, which the protagonists encountered in the recent past (traveled back to a recent past period where they still saw the stone intact). But by meeting him in the recent future (move the stone away), they change the distant future (stone is removed in the distant future).
However, all of this would just make Paradox "a time traveler". Seeing how his identity is going to be revealed in 5D's, it means he's possibly someone important or the writers are just hyping people who wish to know more about Paradox. XD
Yeah, I can see what you mean. Paradox could have just had the knowledge as well, without being an actual scientist. It seems Paradox had built his D-Wheel by himself. He can have get knowlegde in mechanics by himself. It isn't necessary to be a scientist to learn the mechanic.
I can't see him like a scientist: it isn't logical with his style, his way to be. Professor Fudo is a scientist like his wife, Rugder and Rex: It's enough I think. It isn't because Paradox know the time travel he is a scientist, he can have discover it by an accident or by his Sin monster or by the Light of Destruction If he has been in contact with it. There a lot of possibilities to Paradox had discovred the time travel, not necessarily by a scientist experiment.
For me, Paradox is a traveler around the world who had discovered things. . Also like a warrior: he fight for his beliefs even others think he has wrong.
Heh, the traveler bit makes me think of how Pegasus traveled all over the world to gain ideas for Duel Monsters.
I like the warrior comparison, that's one of the things I thought of first when I looked at his character art. XD

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
It make more sense If the movie take place after WRGP: If it was during it, the D-Wheel would have customized and characters would have bear Riding Suit.
Pardox say he come from a "distant future". What he hear by "distant future" ? "Distant" toward what ? For example, the destruction of the world can arrive two weeks after the end of WRGP. I can say say It's a future distant If I not precise the time where this arrive. I can say "distant" for anything because I precise nothing about the "distant" time. It can be one century like one day. It's a question of point of view.
Chrono Trigger is interesting. Yusei know Paradox when they will encounters each other. I wonder me how will be the encounters of each other.
I see Paradox like a traveler and warrior because he fight for is beliefs and I see it like someone who travel, get power and knowledge.
Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
How do you just build a time machine on a bike, without any scientific understanding of quantum mechanics or physics? You don't just...happen into a time traveling device tuning up your engine.

Old one: 次元の狭間より生まれし罪よ、時を越えた舞台に破滅の幕を引け!
New one: 次元の狭間より生まれし闇よ、時を越えた舞台に破滅の幕を引け!
Sin -> Darkness
I corrected the summary in the first post accordingly.
[The following is not fact, it's just a theory.]
What I tried to say that was that he either didn't have the knowledge and researched the stuff later (when the world got destroyed), or he had the knowledge in the first place but it doesn't necessarily means he was a scientist. Sorry if it sounded confusing.
Well, you could always say A Wizard Did It... :V
Obligatory Badass Longcoat, of course!
I don't know, I wouldn't call that distant future... Distant future is a year or more. Besides, Paradox has a D-Wheel capable of floating in the air... developing that and making it sure it worked must have taken a good while. I don't think the world would have been destroyed in the recent future. You're right about it being a point of view thing, but I think "distant" is still used for further periods.
Yusei will encounter Paradox stealing ramen.I had a random image the other day with Paradox having a fistfight with all the Duelroids. Badass.
Yeah, that's a nice interpretation of him.

I assume he got it from one of the pages for the movie on one of the movie sites. The news articles only had the smaller version of those images. But that's XYZ Dragon Cannon for you, he has amazing information finding skills. xD
And: There is none, and they didn't.
[The following is not fact, it's just a theory.]
Oh, so it's a chocolate tin. Still, very nice!
But would Paradox necessarily be a villain at that point? Even Atsushi Tamura said he doesn't consider Paradox to be a bad character (or just a bad character, anyway), and there would be people who think Paradox is right. If Paradox in 5D's appears at that time, it could be him doing "just" something small.
There is also this line:
Why does Paradox warn Yugi and the others to hold back? Is there a reason he doesn't want to attack them? (Well, he did, but...) Or he only cares about his experiments and wishes to interfere with no one else, hence the warning? And why does he ask Yusei, of all people? He could have asked something from Yugi and Judai as well. I suppose it could have been because Yusei is the person closest to the future -his future-. Or is it something about his role in 5D's which makes him ask that?Paradox: To change the bad future, I have to repeatedly experiment on the past. I'm not going to interfere in you current people sacrificing yourself [Heleentje's note: I think it's more: "If you duel me I'll kill you, so I won't 'interfere' with your 'sacrifice'. I.e. your situation is hopeless". But I don't know. I'm not even sure of my translation, it's hard...]
Yuusei: If the present is destroyed, we too...
Paradox: to revive Satellite, even reunite the city and Satellite, isn't it better to forget the scars and pain?
Paradox claims that if he himself doesn't do anything, the world will be equally filled with contradictions.
It should be noted that Paradox knew the names of the protagonists, but he could've easily known them from a history book, for instance.

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
Paradox reminds so much of Pegasus. He's fighting for something that he thinks is right - in our case, for all humanity, but he's doing it in the wrong way while taking away people's lifes. As long as he's destroying humans' lifes or somehow is threatening their existence, he'll be always considered as a villain, as the bad guy - as in the movie as probably in 5D'S. And the warning he made to Yugi and the others to hold back doesn't mean nothing. He tried to finish off Yugi back in the DM period when he ruined that gathering in Domino City. The same happened to Judai at Venice when he attacked him with Stardust. He probably didn't want to get into detention with his plans while dealing with the protaginists. Paradox's trying to fulfill his experiments so he'll do everything to realize his intentions. I don't know what exactly is his tragic story, but I can bet that his role in 5D'S won't be as the good guy who's trying hardly to protect the future. Probably he'll be consodered from Yusei and the others as the insane guy who must be stopped from accomplishing his crazy plan. - just like Pegasus. This motif of the bad guy who has tragic past and is trying to do something good by making people suffering is already very, very well known for the entire Yu-Gi-Oh series, so Paradox is just a product of this "good villain" motif in this anime.

You can use something else of course, as long as you keep it clear. I don't think these kind of interactions are a common thing (considering the language barrier), so let's make it a cool and fun alliance, for both communities! ^^
I'm really excited about this~
Now that you brought it up, I'm tempted to write down this analysis I had in mind - a comparison of Pegasus and Paradox.
Yes, you're right - Paradox is very much like Pegasus. But at the same time, they are total opposites, thesis and antithesis of each other.
Let's start with the obvious: Pegasus is the man who created Duel Monsters, the Creator of Duel Monsters. Paradox, wanting to destroy the game, is the Destructor of Duel Monsters.
They are somewhat opposites in terms of appearance as well. Pegasus has silver hair, while Paradox's hair is blond (or "gold"). Pegasus has/had the Millennium Eye in place of his left eye, while Paradox has the tattoo/eyebrow on the right side of his face. Pegasus is right-handed while Paradox is left-handed.
Now let's see how they work and what their beliefs are.
Pegasus works from behind the scenes as long as he could - he worked with the Big Five and the Player Killers rather than fighting Yugi in the open (except for their first duel where he got Yugi to attend Duelist Kingdom, trying to lock him in the "defeat him in an official duel" condition, and their final duel). In other words, he was a man who worked from a distance and behind the scenes while having others do the work for him, unless when he really had to fight himself. Paradox, on the other hand, had himself as the primary piece in his plan (the only one, even, due to being the last human left alive) and acted in the open at all times. You could say he was constantly on the frontline, doing the work himself (unless you count his monsters as his lackeys).
Pegasus himself never used physical force to deal with his enemies. He always relied on mental combat - manipulation, mind reading and obfuscating stupidity. Paradox uses force - he assaults Yusei for Stardust Dragon, he physically harms Judai and he destroys Domino City, killing Pegasus and all of the civilians.
I should note that they both used a card to s(t)eal souls: Pegasus had Soul Prison for the Kaibas while Paradox had a blank card for Stardust Dragon (and possibly the other dragons).
Now, beliefs. Pegasus seems to believe in the mystical, such as magic, entities (eg. God cards), and the Afterlife. Paradox strikes me as a rational man - he treats his entire mission as an "experiment", for example.
Next, let's look at their decks.
Both of them heavily rely on a card representing a world - their inner world. Pegasus has Toon World while Paradox has Sin World, supporting their deck themes (Toon and Sin respectively). Toon World transforms regular monsters into Toons, and Sin World "transforms" regular monsters into Sin monsters. Now, Sin World isn't required for the Sin Monsters (as any Field Spell would be fine), but this is Paradox's main Field Spell, and also a main support for his deck, just like Toon World.
From a symbolical perspective (as we know that the players are reflected in their cards), both cards represent Pegasus and Paradox. Toon World's exterior (a children's book) is Pegasus' playful, childish self, while the inside of the book (especially in the case of the TCG art for Toon World) there are only gloomy buildings, showing Pegasus' true self, the grieving, twisted man. Sin World shows us the vast, infinite space, representing Paradox's world, the world created by sin in which Paradox remained as the last human, all alone.
Sin World and Toon World are also opposites - Toon World (at least initially) appears as a cheerful, childish world full of inhabitants --the Toons-- which denies death (Toons are immortal and cannot die), and you could see the Toons' immunity to normal monsters' attacks as a way of dodging out of fate's way. Sin World is different: It's an empty world without life, without any happiness, with a feeling of death and the inability to change fate.
The Toon Monsters and Sin Monsters reflect their owners accordingly. The Toons show Pegasus' childish side with a touch of insanity, while the Sin Monsters follow Paradox's design (the mask and his D-Wheel's seat).
However, Pegasus' deck runs two themes (Toon and the Illusion monsters) while Paradox runs only one (Sin).
Another notable aspect is their signature and "Joker card" monsters. Pegasus has Sacrifice and Thousand-Eyes Sacrifice, while Paradox has Sin Paradox Dragon and Sin Truth Dragon. Again, symbolism applies (Pegasus "sacrificing" other people for his goal, while the dragons are a play on Paradox's name and the concept of paradoxes. It is interesting to note that Pegasus' monster got much uglier, while Paradox's monster became... well, more magnificent, perhaps? Both Thousand-Eyes and Sin Truth can be brought out under specific conditions: Sin Truth by Sin Paradigm Shift, Thousand-Eyes by fusion, and both of them involve the respective signature monster. Also, both monsters have fusion involved with them, even though Pegasus is fusing only monsters together while Paradox himself is integrated into Sin Truth.
And for the last, motives.
Paradox's motives aren't easy to figure out at this point, as we know little about his identity. We only know his future was destroyed, but we don't know who he is or how his future got destroyed. He wishes to change his hopeless future, which is void of any life at that point. He lost the life he may have wanted to live through (in a good future). We don't know exactly why Paradox desires to save his future, however. Does he want to save everyone? Does he not want to be alone? Does he want to save himself? Does he only want to continue his experiment?
Pegasus isn't much different - he wants to reunite with Cyndia, perhaps save her from death, even. Like Paradox, he lost his future, his dream of being a famous artist and living with his love forever.
Both of them walk on a path of tragedy and attempt to reach their goals by ruthless means, only to fall in the end because of their flaws. While this is a "good end" for Pegasus, as he's able to reunite with Cyndia this way, it's eternal loneliness for Paradox - he dies alone, far from his own period, far from anyone, without a body (as he sacrificed it for Sin Truth Dragon), without reaching his goal. But the protagonists still vow to protect the future, implying that by working together, they might protect the future and save it from the destruction Paradox witnessed. How this promise will play out is something we'll find out in the future, I guess.
And before I forget, both of them have somewhat ironic names. Paradox's name could refer to his goal (destroying Duel Monsters which would result in a Grandfather Paradox), perhaps his origin (him messing up his own future) or just paradoxes, which can be used to describe situations that are ironic. Of course, Paradox's name may be a nickname and not his real name, but we might see the answer in future 5D's episodes.
Pegasus is named after the mythical horse, yet he also resembles Bellerophon, the man who had slain the chimera with Pegasus' help.
Pegasus (at least in the anime) wanted to take control of the God cards himself, for which he was punished by the deities themselves, resulting in the man leaving for Egypt to seal them away. At the same time, he was the only one to reach the Gods, as everyone else perished in the expedition.Originally Posted by Rich's Pegopedia
In the end, one could easily sum up the two with Paradox's mask: a twisted, destructive side and a sad, lonely person who carries grief on their shoulders.

If Paradox turns good in the end, I bet the he and the heroes will be all chummy in the end, then Sin World collapses for some reason or the other.
Paradox: "I've perfected the art of multi-verse time travel."
Yusei: "Really? The time machine on my D-Wheel is a bit screwed and we've been jumping randomly from one time to the next!"
Paradox: "Did you have the Shuffle button on?"
Yusei: "..........Oh my God."
Paradox: "There you go."
Yusei: "That's why that little symbol with the two crossed arrows is up there in the corner!"
Paradox: "Mhm."
Yusei: "OH MY GOD I FEEL SILLY."

I think Sin Thunderbolt is referring to Sin Truth's effect attack which involves destroying every monster of the opponent when a Sin monster destroys an opponent's monster in battle.
It's also somewhat amusing. Thunderbolts could represent divine retribution. But gods can sin - this could be yet another paradox.

I heard that the new Duelist Pack Kaiba is coming out with a Blue Eyes White Dragon card that has an effect! I looked it up on Yugioh Wiki, and it said that the card was Sin Blue Eyes White Dragon.
If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Sin BEWD is the only effect BEWD that hasn't been released to the US. If it turns out to be Sin BEWD, i'm definitely buying one. However, the only way it could be Sin BEWD is if they released the other Sin Cards as well. Maybe we'll be getting the Sin Cards! I sure hope so.
Greetings to all and have a merry duel.

A new tab has been opened at the official movie site - Merchandise. http://www.yugioh10th.com/goods.html
It's listing the current products available: Strap, T-shirt, chocolate crunch tin, Animation Book, makemagic single and the Chanmery drink.

Except for the chocolate tin, we already know about everything else. Hope soon the "Download" section to be available. I'm quite curious about its content. xD
Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
We already knew about the chocolate tin. I linked photos of them from 2CH before, I just mistook it for a duel box tin.
Also, from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World (http://yugioh5ds-world.net/article/141236510.html):
遊戯王 放送10周年記念アニメの感想
[The first paragraphs tell us nothing new, we already know of those. It talks about which characters appeared and how the duel went, in a nutshell.]
These paragraphs talk about the BGM - it mentions that DM, GX and 5D's BGMs have been used, as well as new, unique BGMs. Shinkichi Mitsumune's name (Responsible for DM's BGM) hasn't been mentioned in the ending credits. The last paragraph says something about the movie's restrictions (such as length) and Kenichi Takeshita, the movie's director, but I can't make much out of the machine translation.

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
It's also confirmed that Kagami is the animation director in this movie (although we already knew about this....his style just can't be mistaken.) Mitsumune Nobuyoshi is also mentioned who has something to do with the music themes in DM. (I'm not sure though) Well, good new info.....let's hope the next 5D'S episode that'll air tomorrow will have an alternative OP and ED too. (at least for one last time) Thanks Arynis for the info.
Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
Interesting ! We know already all about the merchandising section. Tomorrow I hope there will have new opening and ending.
Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
Good to know Kagami was the animation director for the movie. His animation is actually one of my favorites.

Hell yeas, as I suspected...Judai's play was left to be shown. Really cool screenshots....Judai is awesome. He acts as himself in such a hilarious way xD xD xD.....wonderful. About Paradox's face....the only thing I could possibly say is one big* LOL* followed by big *OMG* xD (Although I find Dark Marik's body fusion for more impressive, but anyway......Paradox's one still rocks.)

last time is dark magician and dark magician girl
this time is neos
actually i think today's op is about finishing the duel, and the ed is a scene where the trio say good bye to each other

And i thought Judai couldnt smile in a duel since Yubel was inside of him, i mean come on only time he did that on season 4 was on the duel with Yugi. So thanks for that pic, its epic![]()

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
When the videos are out, we'll be able to guess if episode 98 of 5D'S will have alternative OP and ED too or not. If todays alternative ED shows protaginists' parting, then we'll probably no longer see any alternative OPs or EDs. It's about time 5D'S also to have new OP and ED, so the end for the alternative intros and endings is near.
Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
I'll be uploading the OP&ED shortly (hopefully)
And it seems the ending is just Paradox summoning merging with Sin Truth Dragon
And the Opening is just Judai summoning Neos Knight (Also pretty sure he flips off Paradox XD) and attacking with it

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Movie ~Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time~
If that's so then it's rather possible that episode 98 will have the last alternative OP and ED where we'll see Paradox's loss and protagonists' parting. (This will confirm my theory that all 5D'S episodes that will air on February will have alternative intros and endings. Then 5D'S will have completely new OPs and EDs, considering that WRGP has started and obviously has given the start for new inception of the action.)
