That's basically my only option, yeah; but I don't really feel like driving that for just to see a movie.

The thought crossed my mind, but I'd like to see that limited screening as an extra on the DVD. You know, that recap of all three series with Rua and Ruka narrating?

I would like to see that. A narration of the three series would be a good thing for someone new to the series, or not so affluate with 5Ds and GX to watch, like my older brother. Now if only it makes its way to English ...

Yes, it would also inspire these new kiddies to go check out GX and DM, two series (even GX now I think) that are being forgotten and shouldn't be.

Dm isn't actually forgotten becuase 4kids airs it. Gx is the series that is forgotten. Let's not forget that kde made products about dm this year.

True. I mean GX had the lower ratings, but it's still a good show overall and doesn't deserve to be forgotten.

Speaking of merchandise, they recently released a Black Magician Girl PCV figure, and I lol'd.

I assume near the opening of the movie, 4kids will have something related to GX just so kids that live near the areas that are airing the movie can go and watch it, and would be understanding of who Jaden is. Perhaps a promo made for each of the three protagonists using footage from the 15 second clip with a voice over of the character during a commercial can help. For Jaden, all you really need to know is about him, the rest of GX is ok to leave along. With 5Ds and DM, you have to have a bit more knowledge, which is why they are showing both anime.

GX was a good show, kept us interested though myself I kinda skipped a lot of them since there were so many random episodes and one episode duels. But then again, when I look back on anime thats about shcool life, it does that a lot. So they kept to that, at least. But yeah, GX did have low ratings and all but was a good series. It was even the best dubbed because it had stuff that just made you laugh and roll with it. But so far, 5D's has taken that title of 'best dubbed'.

Would dfeinitely be nice to have an overlook on DM and GX, along with a brief summary of 5D's. There are a lot of devoted DM fans that didn't want to attend to GX and 5D's and yet have no idea about its plot except "How silly, a school to teach about card games and playing card games on motorcycles? Pssha!" So that way they can get a sense of it. With that in English, and to play before the movie would be cool. I mean, dub had no problem playing the Pikachu adventures before the actual Pokemon movie.

..Haha, yeah the PVC figure, wow, the lengths they'd go huh? *kicks away pre-order reciept*

Yes, I would like to see that. Provided it is dubbed well, it should be awesome.

Agreed. GX suffers from the same thing as the Hellsing anime; they were so different from the original material that people were slightly put off, and the animation quality was a bit low; but overall they're both still good pieces.

Do you think this new footage is stuff they cut out or have recently made? If it has been made does that mean the series plot has changed so dramatically that for the movie to fit in they needed to alter the movie itself?

People I know on my team's forum don't give 5D's a chance and hates its guts. I personally think he holds a grudge for it replacing GX or something. My team leader refuses to watch Duel Monsters for some ungodly reason I can't even begin to fathom. Something about Duelist Kingdom not following the rules of the card game even though the manga came first... >>

Of course I only know about the PVC because stumbled upon it. I wasn't looking at a PVC site. (*Whistles*)

Hellsing Ultimate OVA is much better, but the original anime has its good points and deserves a watch. That is how I feel about GX as well.

I know quite a few people who just see 5ds on Sat AM and change the channel because of the motor cycles. They keep on the TV at 9 when DM airs though, they just won't watch 5Ds. Keep in mind these guys are 17, so perhaps they lie to me ...

Good point. Honestly, it's not really clear right now whether the footage is out-taken, or whether it was recently made. I kinda doubt the latter, but it's possibly the footage was made and simply not added to the original; as it might have spoiled too much.

In my experience, trying to understand people's motives is not worth the rewards, when there are any. But that's an absurd reason; hating the show because of the company that aired it is like hating a hockey team because you don't like their arena. As for DM, wow... refusing to watch the original is pretty out there.

Hellsing Ultimate OVA is much better, but the original anime has its good points and deserves a watch. That is how I feel about GX as well.
Exactly; that basically sums up how it is. You can't simply say something is now worth watching because it's not the original.

Oh, they most likely do. And if they're 17, that should give them another reason to watch 5D's, because the rules of female anatomy censorship got slacked a bit by the time it was dubbed. I dunno...

Just came to my attention that in LA Con Center, a very big convention center that holds the annual Anime Expo which is BIG, is going to have a Yu-Gi-Oh! Extravaganza Convention. That's right, a con of pure ygo.

Now, its also like very close to the KDE-US offices so they'll have a lot of things. Now, what do you think of when you hear convention? Costumes, goodies, and screenings. So, screenings, keep that in mind. There may be a chance of something for the YGO movie, its about a month away from that time so I'm pretty sure of it. It runs Jan 22.d to 23rd. Naturally, I'll attend!

    http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/events/

I'd say the chances are high to have something related to the movie. It is a convention based off of all YGO so it'd be the first thought, right? Isn't like a normal sneak preview either nor a championship or regionals, I believe.

Julia (basically one of the people who deals with a lot of the tournament paperwork over at KDE) explained it's basically a 2 day long run of Side Events as their own thing that they're trying out to see if it's popular. (It could easily also have other stuff, though.)

They'll probably have something movie-related regardless. If they has any attention span at all, they know how much fans want something from this movie, and that having something related to it will get their attention.

Plus its practically almost a month exactly away from the movie hitting theaters. Which reminds me, since now the channel is renamed CW, is it still from the Warner Bros. studio? Because I know the studio isn't too far away from Los Angeles, I've been in that area before. So assuming with that, I'm sure they'd be able to have something movie related there. They did have Greg Abbey come from New York all the way over here for the World Championship. I'd say its a grand opportunity, if you ask me. Wouldn't mind if they had Dan Green, Greg Abbey, and whatshisface who voiced Judai.

..And I'd be tempted to ask them if they recreate a quick scene off the Yugi-Jaden-Yusei abridge rap's ending part. XD

I think his name was Matthew Charles, but he had a falling out with 4Kids to I think they've got somebody new for the movie. Anybody care to verify/contest/PWN my statement?

He probably did, but that doesn't really have any bearing on his relationship with 4Kids. If there was a dispute between them, a change of address does nothing.

Usually people move for job opportunities. Cassandra Morris moved. She voiced the twins, but had a lead role elsewhere. Greg Abbey was going to voice Yugi, but something came up and he had to move. It didn't work out, and by episode 7 or 8, he was voicing Tristan.

I doubt Jaden's VA had any problem with 4kids, considering they pay the most out of the three major dubbing companies. Just opportunities existed elsewhere, and he took them. We don't know if this is true even though.

This is true, but there can calso be any of dozens of other reasons to move.

From what I'd heard there had been some disputes over contract negotiation or something like that. You know, the thing that seems to happen with popular actors like... what, once a season these days?

DarkDust_Dragon, do you only post in this thread now? I'm just curious because I have not seen you post anywhere else in the forum in like...a month.

Anyways, another reason to be excited for the movie: A preview of ZEXAL will be shown at the end.

We know the 10 minute long extra footage will be likely tied to the movie only, based on how it was worded on the official site, but I think the idea comes from V-Jump's "Encore Run & Presentation of a New Series" thing. I could see a trailer of the new series in that case, although that V-Jump page has never been properly deciphered and we don't know if ZEXAL is going to pop up in any form on the Encore Run.

At least as far as I know, anyway.

Blah, I'd rather have 10 extra minutes of footage in the movie than Zexal stuff.

I'd be okay with a 5 minutes sneakpeak or something in addition to the extra 10 minutes of footage.

Zexal can go dyke itself >>'

Anywho, I'm pretty excited for the movie. Have about two months left. Man, hard to imagine that a year has passed already. Another reason why I'm excited is because of Shonen Jump's contest. Winner, runne rups, and possibly other select entries of drawings will appear on the big screen before the movie. I got my entry ready to send tomorrow~

Like I noted, the 10 minutes will be pretty much tied to the movie only, rather than ZEXAL, if the way the description of the Encore Run is anything to go by. Or, wait until next month's V-Jump which will likely bring us more info.

@ Kyte: Fanart's looking pretty good.

Those of you who want Zexal stuff in the 10 minute extra footage better stop dreaming, cuz I think we had waaaaay enough of it for now. Every minute in that movie will be filled with movie related stuff only. OVER. XD
That's probably the last gift for the old loyal YGO fans, so no Zexal stuff is allowed. OVER. 8D

People were only confused over what V-Jump exactly meant by their announcement. No one was claiming or hoping for anything here. :\

Good. The last thing I want is for that to be associated with this movie.

Though, I must note that Takahashi himself was very secretive about the extra footage's content in his blog. And with V-Jump discussing the presentation of a new series (ZEXAL), I could see the following outcomes:
    • The footage is solely movie related, fleshing out vague parts and expanding on them. A separate trailer would promote ZEXAL.
    • The footage ties the three series and the movie into ZEXAL, somehow.

If it is new footage to tie into Zexal, I hope it gets dubbed.

We know the extra footage doesn't go with the English release, as far as the theater release is concerned, while the Encore Run has it. Takahashi was very hush hush about it. At this rate, we could assume the footage is not included in the English release because either the plot isn't that far yet, and/or the ties/tie-in to ZEXAL would come too early.

Anything is possible at this point, really. The only thing we know is that the extra footage is definitely movie related, if Ark's translation of the news post on the official site is anything to go by. Best wait for new information to see if they hint at anything, or wait until the Encore Run happens and we have summaries/info from the moviegoers.

Like I said, I am hoping 4kids somehow gets a hold of the extra footage and dubs it and it would be in the theater. I know the news said otherwise, but perhaps it was not telling the full truth. Like not telling us everything, because it didn't know otherwise.

Admittedly, the English trailer looked promising. Here's hoping the dub version will be good too. I will probably buy the dub as well, unless I hear it's god awful. Although, by the description, it appears the plot will be untouched.

Only major thing I'm seeing is they've edited the cards, but considering they want to do a TV run and a Theatrical release, perfectly understandable.

Ahh, seeing the trailer sure had me smile. Wish it'd have voices and all. Music gave chills lol. Kinda thought it would be released by Warner Bros. but that works fine. Still, was excited to see English cards and all, like POL. But as Ark said, they do wish for a TV showing and all, so it makes sense.

I don't think so, it is the same video Slifer posted up from Comic Con, meaning it is just some ordinalry background music.

Good ol' 4Kids, even after 10 years you can't hide all the Japanese cards from us! D:< We'll find them. We will.

As long as the errors that pop up aren't incredibly derpy like they can be sometimes, I have no problem with editing the cards. For the TV release.

For the theater version, they better damn well be either in Japanese or (more likely) translated into English. I see no reason why anything should be edited for the theater version. Oh well.

Props to the website guys for linking to the subbed 5D's episodes on Toonzaki. Probably a good idea to get the name out there.

Also, the background music sounds like your typical 4Kids-DM styled music, with the awesome level cranked up to about 12,000 or so. It sounds like some weird thing was put into that they normally don't put in their music...

    ...Oh yeah. Effort.

    But it's no Japanese OST.

The main reason for why the Theater version would be edited is 4kids doesn't have a lot of money to waste on 2 versions, and if they want to air it on Toonzai, it would make financial sense to do one version.
