Now he just needs to go "I killed your grandpa, U MAD?" XD

4kids sucks. They lost. Lots of people are going to be confused when they see grown up Jaden and there is nothing they can do about it.

Maybe that had happened 10 years ago when YouTube was not at internet. Now if a kid does not understand why Judai looks different he just google it and he/she will end in YouTube watching Judai vs Yugi duel.

Besides, when you are kid you don't notice that things...

Kid: mmm... this is weird... why Jaden is using black pants, turtleneck and Yubel is his part... WOW, is this in 3D??!!! and the villain summon an evil Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes??!! Yusei meets to Jaden and Yugi???!!! WOOOW this is better than Toy Story 3!!!!!

PD: By the way... nothing is better than Toy Story 3.

Whoa, there a ton of things better than Toy Story 3, you just gotta go to CineMax for it.

Yeah, kids don't notice the obvious. Like voice actor changes. I bet most of them didn't even notice the twins in 5Ds changed voices at 66.

Not so awesome from the standpoint from somebody who wants to make sure that new mediums get the respect they deserve. 4Kid's currently using the same tactic it used for Kinnikuman Nisei(which avoided being a total letdown only because the joke alterations, personalities, and backgrounds of the characters were for the most part, portrayed fairly well), and is taking a page from Plastic Cow's mutilation of Duel Masters. They're relying primarily on bad puns and horrible references that, while for all intents and purposes may be remotely funny black humor, are a mockery and disgrace to the source material. Especially when it comes to the plot, the characters, their personalities, and their atmospheres. There weren't like this with Pokemon or early YGO. Atem's saga, despite the massive number of alterations, had VAs who hit the characters' personas and atmospheres well for the most part. This facebook account has Atem making jokes that not even Judai's limited intelligence would laugh at.

I'm going to say this. Korea has a tendency to try too hard and generally has elementary school level reading atmosphere for its game/anime/manga industry. Rockman Online made me remember that, and even IT didn't destroy character personas and settings to the extent 4Kids does at times. Had YGO been dying out right now, I assure you that this stunt would've gotten flak for breaking the fourth wall to mutilate the personalities of the characters and gather attention in horrible. The only reason it's not gathering flak is because YGO sells well, and YGO abridged is a good piece of black humor ala MAD movies for anybody who knows what they're making fun of. 4Kids, however, has shown time and time again that they don't give a shit about the source material(much like the current Japan), nevering bothering to experience the stuff they're licensing before they actually license things. The chances of them understanding the meaning that the abridged series holds in peoples' hearts are next to 0. They're saying yes just because they know its popular.

Generally, I don't dislike 4Kids for their changes or their bad dubbing. I hate it for the attitude they hold towards the industry. They're a company that personifies everything wrong with the anime market, just that it's not in Japan and is on the other end of the spectrum compared to the fanservice-laden animation industry of today. And this facebook stunt makes me see once again just how greedy they are. If they were fans, I'd marvel at how much they know about the subculture generated by the source material. But they aren't, so this just makes me rage.

Ever since 4kids went internet savy, they have been a lot more involved with fans. You just gotta involve yourself. Toonzaki is a huge step forward, you just gotta support it. 4kdis has a whole section for it, so they obviously care for Toonzaki. It needs support from fans to work though. With that will come better dubs.

Yeah, we all dislike 4kids, but some of us don't like them less that others do.

The first thing 4Kids needs to do is have its upper executives actually care about the stuff they watch. As far as they're concerned right now, they're too focused on trying to please everyone and rip their cash. Toonzaki and the likes, at the moment, are just an extension of this strategy. Until they actually think "What did I like about this series? What are its strong points? Is it something I'd watch?" instead of "How can we rip more cash?" they're never going to actually get any better. It's the same reason Japan can't actually bring itself out of its rut even if the ban gets shafted and the Japanese government stops trying to take control.

I am pretty sure Mark Kirk is that person. He is very influencial in the 4kids group, and deals mostly with us, the fans. For the record, I don't think 4kids is making that much money off Toonzaki yet, and won't for some time until they actually release some DVDs. Remember, they have DVD for this ready once Feb comes, so perhaps they will then do the first 26 episodes of 5Ds sub and dub. Hopefully that is.

Well, I hope things work out well. Not that it matters since I live in Korea and Daiwon will probably do a really cringe-inducing dub.

Considering their attempt to make Yubel child-friendly turned her into a transsexual and made Judai gay... yeah.

Or when Godwin changed from Blaustein to Zarustica in Episode 14.

Seems like with the Shonen Jump Feb issue, the website, and now a commercial on Toonzai, 4kids and Viz Media have officially started the advertisement for the dub of the movie. I hope the movie site gets updated as the SJ suggests it will have a theater list.

Note the commercial was pretty much the same as the online one, but with Dan Green narrating.

It was on Toonzai. You should really watch DBZ Kai on your CW local station every Saturday to catch the commercials, and a good, yet edited DBZ Kai.

Sorry if this is old news, but looks like this movie has a lower budget than the last one. The normal 4kids card edits. However, looks like BMG's pentagram/hexagram is kept.

Thanks for the link ^^ I was hoping for someone to upload it =D

    Edit:
So... I think 4kids are advertising this 3D so much, like is the 3D what makes this movie awesome -_-

I believe I posted a shot that the missed the card editing when the trailer first went online earlier in the thread. There's always time to fix it before the movie comes out, but I'm wondering if 4Kids will bother to fix it.

Their editors aren't exactly ninjas when it comes to editing out stuff now are they... XP

They are emphasizing on the 3D animation mainly bacause that's what people are addicted to right now. People like me who aren't impressed by the 3D are rare case. xD

The one on Toonzai was longer, and had Dan Green narrating. You will only get one TCG card though, so I am upset about that. But hopefully these cards will be good and rare. You know, enough to make the 2 hour drive worth it.

A theater list is supposed to be up on the official website soon, as SJ says. Perhaps once it hits news stands then the site will. Subscribers get it a few weeks in advance.

They're better off just making it straight to DVD. It's only 45 mins. If anything, they should of added the 5D's OVA to make the movie ticket you bought worth the money.

The card alone is worth it. Considering only 250 will be showing it, and for only 4 days, it might become a rare collectable. And there is the fan art they will be showing off.

Yep. Not to mention Sin Truth being in the March issue. Huzzah.

Especially with the budget being too low to go back and fix it.

First of all, the 5D's OVA would cost even more money to buy and dub, which they don't have. Second... come on, huge 3D CGI Yugioh Movie with awesome characters, monsters, explosions, time travel... what about that is NOT worth seeing?

I know, but c'mon, they named the movie Yugioh 3D! Of course we ALL will know that is in 3D. The trailer recorded by Slifer at least had what will be the main theme of this movie aka: The 3 Protagonists togheter (thats why all of us get excited in the first place), now its just the 3D (money) -_-

But that doesn't mean that I don't like the 3D, I'll Love to watch the movie in 3D, but I think its too much.

I'm just hoping that the edits are minimal, I think they'll be much more noticable in the movie since it's 3D.

Think about it though man; CG above that of 5D's PLUS the 3D effect... That just screams awesome.

Sadly, I doubt we're that lucky.

EDIT: News on the 5D's Movie Pack. Sin Parallel Gear is in the pack, which likely means Sin Paradox Dragon will be as well. For all of us who said it wouldn't be printed... apparently it still might be. They'd have to nerf Gear to make it work, though.

Oh, and was it Mako who said the Pack wouldn't only contain Sin cards? That may still be true, but with each Sin card they reveal that seems less likely.

Having only one eye I can't see 3D. I just hope a non 3D version is released.

I don't actually care. I can live without the 3D part in the movie, so I just want to see the movie itself. Even without a 3D the animation is incredible.

I agree with that 100%. Given the chance to see it in 2D or not at all, I would have no issues with 2D.

I'd be so excited to see it on a large cinema screen too as I hadn't discovered Yu-Gi-Oh! when the first movie came out.

I think you missunderstand my point. I physically cannot see 3D. As such if I had to see it in 3D the entire movie would be a massive blur. I tried it for Resident Evil 4 and god my head was hurting by the end of that.
I am against 3D because it is unfair for people in my position. Several films I've had to miss now due to this 3D BS.

That is why they make non 3D versions of these films. Unfortnetly, a movie this small in budget and general popularity, won't have it, except DVD soon after.

That's providing 4Kids can be bothered to release the DVD in the UK. They're not very good at giving us DVDs here. The last one was GX volume 3 I think - Jaden/Syrus in the Tag Team duel. They never released all of DM either(correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I don't think DM got beyond the first series on DVD here). Couldn't even import the American release as we're on a different DVD code (unless you have a multi-region player).

    Sony should be region unlocked.

4kids has a HQ in London, you could mail then about it.

I might just do that, it couldn't hurt and maybe they'll tell me about European release plans.

About Paradox's timeline. The Yusei in Paradox's time becomes Zone right? This means that the Yugi and Jaden in paradox's timeline never met Yusei. We don't know if Zone is Yusei but it seems that way.

Your own question contradicts itself. I hope you know that.

Found this on youtube, it's the same preview, but with Dan Green's narration:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUnYxDFeszo

Also, possible bad news, there's a preview of this now playing in theaters, and it uses the dub opening theme. Let's hope that this is just to advertise, and not that 4Kids replaced the soundtrack. (Since it was kept in the first preview) I really think this would be a good way to test how well the english version would sound with the original soundtrack instead.
