Another fortunate thing was the price wasn't even 3D priced, but the regular Matenea price of 7.50, plus a 1.25 for internet charges. Best part is it was free for me since I used a gift card I got as a tip awhile ago. Muvico was once a large company, but now there are only about 10 left. Sad, but good for me since every one of them is airing the movie.

It's simple. The cards were edited so they could show the Movie on TV. As the FCC considers realistic cards to be commercial time and YGO instantly becomes an infomercial the moment they show realistic cards for more than a millisecond.

So, turns out the guys distributing the movie here were just trolling anybody who wanted ZEXAL info. All we got is a crappy 10 minute recap of all 3 series. So, gonna have to wait until it comes out in Japan.

Things to note:

The black, space-like background that replaces the monster pics when Paradox steals the monsters or causes them to not exist, coincidentally seems a LOT like the Exceed black frame.

Paradox's theme is the same as Aporia. You know, the orchestra theme with drums and a somewhat creepy circus feel?

Paradox says variations of Aporia's trademark DESPAIR, FOOLISH HUMAN, and DESTROYED FUTURE deal like 5 times each in the movie.

3D isn't really strong except for CG effects and object placement.

I'd say Yusei's thickheadedness towards Team Logical Fallacy is because of his experience with Yugi and Judai. Aside from the desire to protect his current era, he's all emo and tense ala season 2 Yusei for the majority of the movie. While he denies Paradox's words, his actions don't come off as particularly annoying or stupidly naive due to Yusei's constant angst and doubts. Seriously, I'm honesty willing to say that ZONE became a realist because he never went and got the duelist strain of the Tea Virus from his predecessors. The contrast is THAT severe.

Most theaters around my area state there is only one showing. The two closest to me (both being 3 1/2 hour drives) are showing at 12 pm and 12:30 pm. I'm hoping there are more showings, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm guessing it's best to buy my tickets early if I plan to go.

So ZeXal's footage will be included only in the japanese version. It doesn't matter anymore cuz probably what we'll see at the end of the movie will be the same what JamBANG's show will show us.

But YGO can't use it for one single movie -- a movie that represents the YGO anime's most important landmark? Unfortunately after all these years I don't really care how good the replaced music is by '4Kids standards', I just want to hear the actual original soundtrack.

Props on leaving Yubel and Pharaoh unedited, but I did expect that due to the loosened regulations of the cinema. Although weren't the cards edited so that the movie can be shown on TV? Then I'm not sure why Pharaoh and Yubel weren't pre-edited for TV, apart from the fact that 4Kids Glowing Pajamas of Doom would look terrible on the big screen.

I'm really sad that the nearest theater showing it is an hour and a half north of here. It's being shown in my hometown, somehow, but since I'm two hours from my hometown... without a car... guess I'll have to wait to rent it when it comes out on DVD.

Still, I'm glad to see from some of the notes you guys are making that it at least has the potential to be a decent dub. =)

On a note for the replaced music: I pretty much saw it coming. Considering that YGO has nevereverevereverNOTINABILLIONYEARS gotten Japanese OST (Ignoring the DM uncut DVDs) I was prepared for the worst. Does it suck? It sure does. At best we'd get the Japanese version on the DVD. At worst, no Japanese version at all or region blocked on Hulu/Toonzaki.

Plus, all my hopes of original Japanese music went down the drain once I saw the trailer. If 4Kids can start making background music like this, then I'll be a little more satisfied. (:

Well, I might be able to survive derpy music if the script is at least relatively close to the original script. I swear though, if they can't be bothered to look over the script enough times to check for script errors, I'll just facepalm. For the series' anniversary, you should put more effort into it than the series itself. :<

No, it is usally more expensive to license the OST that to make one yourself, NAS is just the only company that doesn't give out the OST in their license deal. Even with the 5 episodes of Eyeshield 21 Viz Media picked up, the OST wasn't there and they made their own (I assume it is an option though). Perhaps this is an NAS problem.

Well, the definitely lessens my hype for it by a bit.
Like I said, there's a good chance I wouldn't be able to see this in the movies anyway (again, bro has the only car, and works those days), and I don't feel like catching the bus for a 49 minute movie. There's also the fact that, really, I've been spoiled to it too much, and don't care for the card game aspect, so yeah...
So, I'll just wait for the DVD or the download.

Especially Kaiba. Him, getting his ass handled to him, in Kagami style animation would have been awesome.

Unfortunately, we kinda already knew they wouldn't show how Paradox got the other cards. They just....didn't bother. Really, its sad how much potential they could've done with this movie that they didn't. And the added footage they bothered to tack onto the re-release of this film is nothing but Zexal advertising. I mean, how the hell do you advertise that as additional movie footage?

Thankfully I don't have to commute at all to see the movie. Cause I wouldn't if it were far away. So I'll just get my free card and anim-manga promo and be done.

I'm still pretty hyped like a year ago when it first was announced and all. But I am easily psyched on seeing something I love being in theaters and such (I even was excited for Dragonball Evolution and...liked it). And I'm just as spoiled on the info as I read the movie script and such. But also curious on seeing how the dub does it and well..if it wasn't for the dub, I wouldn't have gotten into YGO so I give that much credit and would say that I'll go see it.

I mean, sure, 3D isn't exactly needed. Despite I thought the 3D effect was cool to see for an anime, it wasn't necessary. Still, 3 Duelists of legend...3D...Yup. XD

Tbh, I wouldn't mind owning that poster, looks pretty cool. Some cards are kinda random, though. I guess they're the more memorable cards from the series so far and includes what seems to be Stardust Mirage, a Trap Card from the movie. Nice. Would've liked it better if it were just all cards from Yusei's deck, though.

The use of unreleased BGMs from GX does give me the faintest hope that an unreleased BGM compilation CD could see the light of day. At least this shows that these tracks are remembered.

When the preliminary BGM list came out I remember being disappointed by the soundtrack choices for the movie, mainly the absence of DM BGMs and the focus on the weaker 5D'sSD3 tracks, but now I see it in full it's actually a really solid soundtrack. Jose, Catharsis, Light and Dark, Judai's Theme, Bonds of the Three, Terror and Destruction... Damn, that's good.

Yeah, IIRC, Arynis mentioned it before. As for the other one, Ghost's post called it "the BGM playing in the scene when Yubel was finishing Amon off." Did some checking, and it's that..."chaotic," I guess would be the word, one that also played when everyone's being transported at the end of 119.

Yeah, the lack of DM stuff's a bit of a downer (they could've probably used the original "Passionate Duelists" the second time around), but the other stuff does make up for it (though "Cute Spirits" being in is kind of amusing). It's a shame the dubbed movie's missing out on these, from what's been said.

(Speaking of which, for whoever checked it out, were there any moments of silence in the dubbed movie? BGM-wise, I mean.)

Saw the movie...I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I don't think it was such a waste, and while I was disappointed by the lack of the original bgm, the soundtrack they had was good enough...also uncensored was a major plus, and the dubbing was fine in my opinion, although at some points, it seemed like a parody. My only complaint is that Pegasus took joking a little bit too far...

As for Yusei, I loved seeing his previous self again, and I wish he didn't have to change so much! He was really awesome in the movie.

The added footage was kinda neat, but should've been skipped and replaced with more movie scenes...

Overall, it was pretty good.
