    Because people have yet to report in. The movie isn't showing in most places until the 26th, save for a few places which show the movie earlier. Please be patient and check back regularly.

    I will be adding the more thorough summaries to the main summary post.

    Yeeahh, like they said, just give it a bit more time. The movies not even released yet, so it's hard for too many people to have reviews / opinions on it. xD; But there's only a number of days left. You gotta hang in there like the rest of us. D:

    Never expected 4Kids to not edit them, tbh.
    I think its safe to say that since its in theaters, the regulations on censor trimmed down. And I kinda feel that messing with the actual animation to edit would indeed mess up the 3D effect. Though I'm sure on the TV version, most likely will be 2D and will be easier for them to edit. Plus, editing the cards wouldn't do too much on the effect, I'd guess.

    Wait, wut. It'd.. ruin the..3D effect.. on Aki's cleavage?

    -shot-

    In all seriousness, that's a good point, Kyte. I'm glad the movie wasn't edited in most ways, since a lot of 4Kids animation edits just end up looking awkward anyway. Even the edits to the D-wheel screens, life point counter, and what not. Ack.

    ...Didn't even mean it that way BUT with how Kagami usually draws out female characters is enough to make Hara jealous...

    And just imagine DMG's 'staff' being in 3D.....

    Oh yeah, my favorite quote from the movie, if only because it's hilariously retarded even by 4Kids standards:

    Jaden: (talking about Malefic Truth Dragon) I've seen some big monsters, but that one takes the cake!
    Yusei: Yeah, and it probably ate it, too!

    Were there a lot of jokes in this? That means they did use some creative power with the script then ...

    Creative as in changing things around to better suit the mood. It seems to not have mattered, or else MysticX or Dolphindude would have said it made it a bad movie. I trust both of them to be a good judgement.

    Also, what is creative is in the eye of the beholder.

    What would have been creative is getting similar dialogue to the original in a manner that works with the number of frames available. Making a random joke to fit in isn't really that creative in my book. Not to mention the joke isn't even that funny. I'd be interested to see what the original dialogue was at that point.

    How about we don't prejudge. So far only two of us have seen the English dub, they are the only ones who can lay down the final judgement.

    I would call it "Creative Liberties" more than anything else. Basically sums up what 4Kids does to the original, in a nicer way.

    Or,

    4Kids: "LOL NAS UR DOIN IT WRONG. U MAD?"

    Edit:

    Actually, getting similar dialogue from the original script would just be...translating. XD

    Oh come on. That is a complete god damn cop-out.

    If that were universally true, certain opinions wouldn't be valued more than others in any entertainment industry.

    4Kids has been doing this shit forever. I highly doubt things have changed.

    A couple other things I wanna mention:

    Paradox is voiced by Sean Schemmel. You can hear bits of Chronos in there and a LOT of Brisbane in there.
    Crow sounds a LOT different compared to the anime itself. His voice wasn't as scratchy as it usually is. Maybe this is where Tom Wayland started doing the VA work for Crow?
    Every card in the movie kept its original name, aside from the usual Sin -> Malefic change. The only one that changed was Sin Cross, which is now Malefic Divide.
    Yubel sounded different too.
    Other quality lines include:

    DM and DMG convo about "a tricky situation" and "how being magicians they can get out of tricks easy".
    Pegasus being "upstaged" when the building falls on him.

    I personally find it rather amusing that they throw in the occasional joke. Especially when they're giving the punchlines to Yuusei.. because.. just. XD

    Crow was like that in dub92, I believe.

    Yubel having a new voice makes sense. The original actress voiced Leo and Luna too, which is why we have new voices for them, too.

    The Pegasus line is kind of amusing--only someone as campy as Pegasus would say that. But as you're about to die, it's not really fitting. :U

    Not to rain on the joke, but NAS has done many things wrong with the series. Such as the filler of 5Ds, being thrown at us basically jsut because the movie was being made at the same time. I understand it takes time, but if Pokemon can do one every year, why do we have to go into filler central?

    Oh, and NAS hasn't gotten the best ratings with 5Ds, obviously. 4kids has been able to get a good 1.2 % on broadcast, which amounts to about 500K kids (6-11).

    EDIT: MystikX, would you say Tom Crow is better than old Crow?

    Pokemon gets away with it because half the show is filler anyway. They don't need to create more filler to work on the movie. Plus, I bet their budget is a helluva lot bigger, with more staff.

    Not saying NAS is perfect, either. It's just like it feels like 4Kids will take something, and go "creative liberties" on it--or to be worded differently: "NAS, you didn't do this right so we're doing it better" just seems to be the attitude expressed.

    ?

    According to what I've heard about a post on Toonzai's Facebook, a 0.1 = 24700.

    1.0= 247,000
    1.2= 296,400

    ...so 300,000. That's quite a difference from 500k.

    Tha is just the measured households, I am estimating from all households. Not every household in America has a Neilson box.

    How do you do that? (I mean, how do you go about estimating from all households?)

    Sorry, I'm just wondering.

    Simple estimation. Think about it this way. The population is 300 million, the Neilson ratings measure from 114 million (or so, around that number), so looking at the demo, you can imagine it being about 500K.

    Even so, if only 300K and my estimation is wrong (it very well can be) that is only of those in the correct age group (6-11) and that are being measured with Neilson boxes.

    The point it, ratings are better in America mostly than they are in Japan.

    Ah, ok. Gotcha. XD

    4kids (and other kids networks) only really cares about the ratings in that demo (6-11) though, right?

    Edit: Well, that demo and whatever other demos they and the other networks are targeting.

    It is all about what advertisers think. As long as 4kids averages over a 0.8, they make money. For the past 3 weeks, they did much better than a 0.8.

    For those waiting for summaries, wait until more people have seen it? As far as I know, Dolphin and I are the only people who've seen it and are actually willing to talk about it at the moment, and I haven't seen the 4kids version.

    All I can say is(and it's what I've been saying for a while) in regards to plot relevance, the Tea Virus is responsible for all of Yusei's current annoying actions. >__>;;

    Seriously. It's one thing to discuss the objective quality of their normal, basic dialogue choices. But you can't justify an epic mood breaker like that.

    Because it's written for 7 year olds, by what writers, producers, and execs think 7 year olds want.

    They are doing two movies that are being released at the same time while doing a decent anime as well.

    @MystikX
    Did you get the mini-manga, if so, what is it about?

    Hence my point. But aren't the two movies very similar?

    Yup. Haven't read it yet, though. Left it in my glovebox by accident, and I took my mother's car to school today (which is where I am now).

    Can't believe I'm wasting my 6000th post on this.

    Is the mini-manga just parts from the movie, or something?

    Well, I can say this: It's got 5Ds manga characters on it. Even Sect. So my guess is it's just 5Ds Manga Chapter 1, but I'll let y'all know when I remember to get the thing out of my glovebox. Too lazy to do it now.

    How was Jaden's voice MystikX? Was it the same or different?

    Well, at least they didn't change Paradox's name to T-Bone.

    ...Y'know, coincidentally, I just finished going back to that dub episode for some reference while I was subbing the original, and I kept finding myself groaning every few seconds whenever he spoke. I still don't get why that was ok'd (and hell, I think it's worse than the Mad Dog stunt, and that was bad). >_>; (What's more, it's Sean Schemmel voicing him. Yeah...)

    But yeah, that line's bad. I really hope the rest of the movie isn't like your usual dubbed [GX] episode...

    I figured they would turn Jaden into a joke, it only makes sense since they basically screwed over GX fans.

    I think it would be Yusei, since he said "it looks like he ate it too". He had the punchline. Who knows, perhaps we are over exaggerating, and it was said in passing, and works fine in the movie.

    Eh, I can live with "I've seen big monsters, but that takes the cake!" (assuming Judai was talking about how strong it is). "And it probably ate it, too!", on the other hand...

    And I'd hope he wasn't turned into a joke, considering this is Season 4!Judai we're talking about. As long as he's not completely like Jaden was in S1-3 and is a mix of serious and laid-back, it'll work for me.

    Oh my.... After reading what kind of dialogue we are getting from 4Kids, I guess if it came to the theaters of my country I wont watch.
    Better... Wait.... For the DVD.
