Just got back from Bonds Beyond Time. I can't really add too much extra so I'll mostly talk about my experience there rather than the movie.

First off, $8.25 for popcorn & water!??!?! D:< At least I got the Malefic Red-Eyes/Manga sampler, though. The lady at the snack counter wanted to see this movie so badly, but sh has to work today & tomorrow. Guess she'll just have to wait for the DVD.

Anyway, went inside the theater, and found out there were only about 20 or less people there. I'll just assume the large crowd of people that wanted to see this movie saw it last weekend.

Then I saw previews for Cars 2
    ...
    & Kung Fu Panda 2
    ...
    & Mars Needs Moms
    ...
    & Smurfs 3D D:< D:< D:<

Then the recap started. If someone who never saw YGO before went to this movie & saw that, they would probably go, "WTF am I watching?!?!?!"

Then the actual movie. Just. AMAZING.
    Pure.
    ****ing.
    Awesome.

It was hard to be surprised from this movie since I read all of the spoiler summaries, but DAMN! The 3D combined with stellar animation practically had me in eye-gasms for the entire 50 mins. And as others have said, the music was outstanding for 4KIDS standards, complete with silence for all of the necessary parts. Still might have been nice to hear the original OST's, but I still like their music selection. A LOT. The DM Yugioh music had me SO nostalgic. Nice touch.

There were 2 things I didn't like, though:

    1) The parts before Yusei went back in time felt a little TOO fast-paced. If they had just expanded upon some of the earlier scenes, it could have come a lot closer to feature-length time.
    2) Paradox was made to be a typical 2-D 4KIDS style villain. They did it in the recap too with Pegasus, Viper, and "The ruthless Seto Kaiba."
Paradox even came complete with a 4KIDS-style censor. (Paradox: "If you lose a Malefic Game, you lose your soul!" )

But these were still only minor issues. I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Then I watched the credits roll to the 3 themes, saw them display the 10th anniversary icon one last time, and then it was over.

After that, though, I heard these 2 guys about my age (I'm 19, btw) talk about the movie:

#1: I can't wait for this to come out on DVD.
#2: But it was only 45 minutes.
    #1: I know, but I loved it.

I couldn't agree more. I was so happy to hear that from them.

Bottom line, I really enjoyed the entire ordeal. I loved it so much.

Wow, the previews that showed before the movie for me were...Uhh how to put it....Nerdy. >_> lol

Transformers 3, Thor, Green Lantern, Cowboys & Aliens. Though on my ticket stub, it says the movie is PG-13...AH well, at least most people who went were like 30+ and in the age group of 18 to 25 with my niece being the only child.

    *totally didn't pre-order tickets for tomorrow's show*

Also, don't remember Paradox calling it a Malefic Game, I think it was just 'game' or 'duel'. Well, either way it wasn't a normal duel with the actual damage and a card being evaporated into Yugi's hand..GX trademark? =D *shot*

Glad to see you have enjoyed the movie! ^^

Going by fanart on Pixiv depicting the scene, Paradox apparently says that line as Stardust's attack is reaching him.

XD Believe me, it IS well worth the trip! So far from the good reviews we've been giving to the dub version and the movie itself, it should be worth it!

Lucky! How they mistook a movie about card games & time-traveling motorcycles for PG-13, I will never know.

No, I remeber it clearly. I heard him specifacally refer to it as 'Malefic Game' (or maybe Malefic Duel, but my point remains valid).

That would make the most sense. Thanks.

Pretty sweet, but it would be all the sweeter if they were using the original Passionate Duelists rather than the GX one.

The duel seems to have the Game of Darkness background 'hum' as well.

Well with the technology, I'm sure Paradox is able to make it like a Shadow Game like Aporia is able to. I guess he'd call this technology 'SIN/Malefic Duel/Game' which would make sense. But not so much on the whole 'lose your soul' thing. I mean c'mon 4Kids, its in a theater! Less than an hour! You can get away with 'lives' and using the o forbidden 'D' words!

From what we've seen and heard about Paradox in the original, he comes across as borderline on either good or evil, maybe vigilante would be a proper term. But dub-wise, he's leaning more on the bad side. But still goes nutty in either version towards the end~ (oh gawd now I can imagine him in a abridged with a Batman voice, then on the nutty bit he freaks out like Christian Bale)

If it helps anything, Atsushi Tamura, his VA in the original, was told that Paradox is a character who carries a lot of grief on his shoulders and has his reasons to fight. Tamura believed that Paradox isn't your typical villain, and he doesn't want people to think of Paradox as your usual bad guy.

Considering his past with ZONE and how he was one of the last humans to survive while seeing the world around him die, it does make a lot of sense.

If you listened to Greg Abbey yesterday, he mentioned how 4kids played it safe by only going to 300 theaters, and as such, didn't really make extra versions. So I assume the TV version and the DVD version will be all the same, for financial reasons.

Don't worry though, he said 4kids has more shows down the pipeline.

Someone asked me what I thought about the movie. Ha ha, I would like to share my feeling as a regular fan not Janime here ^__^. Well, I have just watched it this morning with my family. I have to say, "Impressive!," compared to what I have seen during the past 10 years. I started watching Yu Gi Oh since 1997 (Toei Production). Wow, 3D is truly amazing. Some scenes based on old pictures are still rough, but they did a pretty good job though.

Pictures - It's of course the best of all times based on the latest 3D technology. It is also based on the original Japanese production, so the pictures are pretty beautiful, colorful, and better than the prior movie, Pyramid of Light.

Duel Contents - It's truly an intermediate-expert level. There are many cards played at different timing, and you still need to exercise your brain a bit to follow all effects. I like how it's nicely done so that we just don't watch without thinking.

Environment - It is a limited show in theater and only available on a time per day during the weekend in my city, so there were many kids and family getting together in the morning. The theater was crowded. Many kids were cheering, playing Yu Gi Oh cards (even checking real cards while watching the movie), and laughing. For me, it seems so fun for a lively movie. Glad that nobody knew I was Janime ^^".

Dub - I know that they might change some scripts to match the US market. However, in my personal view, I think it isn't bad at all (compared to the dub in regular series). English isn't my native language, so I can't comment much. I might not get all lines correctly, but the best line from the movie is from Yugi, "Synchro What!?". Ha ha, it made all audiences laugh repeatedly as Yugi doesn't have any idea about synchro.

Storyboard - It takes about 15 mins for them to give a perview of the 3 main heros, the next 15-2 mins for the story, and the remaining time for the duel. For the timeframe, it is okay for me. I think that they can make this a better movie by adding more story =)

Well, you have a day left to watch this 3D movie in theater. It's worth to pay and watch! I strongly encourage you to get out and watch it ^0^.

It's quite fun to be someone that people know from a Community, especially for you 'cause you're the creator of this community.

Well, being in France, I'm not able to watch the film properly so I had to watch the film by one of the link given here >_> (and the movie rocks) Hope it'll come quicky, in theaters, DVD or Blu-Ray I don't care, but hurry up, 4KIDS T_T

Seeing the dub, I actually don't care if I give 4kids props. When I heard Jaden and Yugi saying their catch phrases was it for me, WHOO! VINTAGE!, I think it was the power of Dan Green's Yugi/Yami-Yugi that made the movie watchable for me^^;;. I like dub Jaden's hyper attitude more than Kenn's personally^^;;.

Okay so I saw the movie today since I was sick last week. The people in the threater was comprised of three pairs of teenage girls, a group of college age dudes, some kid and a mom and one fifty year old dude. I was amused. Now for some impressions

+ Gorgeous animation, sans a few shots of Yusei's group but it didn't matter much. 3D effects were nice especially combined with sparkles and random crap floating around.

+ Duel was fun to watch, even with some situational spells/traps and asspulls

+ Yusei and Judai were so cute together <3

+ The final turn of all the main dude's aces was really awesome

+ Papa Fudo in Kagami animation <3

+/- The movie was kind of corny, it came off as unintended comedy at points XD

+/- The dub music was meeeeh but alright and nostagic at points

    - I kind of wanted to smack Yusei for not taking the Stardust Dragon when Paradox held it up in front of his face when he was right besides of him lol

    - The movie went by waaaay too fast and I wish it could have been longer esp since about 80% of the entire movie I already saw in teaser clips and traliers

    - This wasn't the movie's fault techinically, but I didn't get a manga sampler or Red Eyes Malefic with my ticket what gives?

Confused Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time

While I do plan on finishing with 5D's, I do want to also do the Movie Screenshots when I am able to..and wondering if you prefer me using the Japanese Version or the Dubbed Version for the eventual pics (which I know..will be a while from now).

I think the japanese version would be a better choice due to less editing there if it's no trouble Kaiba.

Either version will be fine! Although I personally would like the Japanese version. And thanks for taking the time to do the screenshots.

I think you could not possibly be more thoughtlessly dismissive if you tried. Let others do what they want without trying to take over if they said they want to?

Also, Kaiba222, I admit it'd be nice to see the Japanese ones especially for the proper card images. Thank you for asking!

It is of course US dub in English. However, I also saw a Japanese version from several clips posted on line. None is in HQ version but good enough to understand duel contents and story =). Trust me, US dub isn't that bad.

Starry, they gave a card to us when we left the theater. Some didn't get it and got back to claim it at the theater as well. You can try though =)

I did the 5D's Series (or will have) & thought it would be a nice cap to my 5D's pics to do the Movie. Besides, don't want to load them about with the movie while they are doing an ongoing series.

I was planning on using the Japanese version to match up with my 5D's pics since obviously they are JPN Ones and thanks for the comments.

Oh god, saw the movie earlier today, and wow. It was.. actually more awesome than I was expecting it to be. The 3D in it looked pretty cool, especially the Stardust sparkles, and the falling ash and what not. It really looked like it was falling around the theater. xD; Before I saw it, I figured it wouldn't work too well, guess I was wrong there. The script honestly wasn't all that bad either. Sure 4Kids throws in some extra lines here and there, or jokes, but they really never seemed out of place. I think it was handled well, and while I wished it would've been longer, I was by no means disappointed. I was so into the movie, that I didn't even think to nit-pick at whatever edits were there. Just wow.

Also, Paradox is pretty awesome. Just sayin'.

Then wait for it to air on Toonzai, watch it on Toonzaki if it ever gets put up, or buy any possible DVD release.

There's so many impatient people on the forum lately, what's going on? When you think that most of us here have waited over a year to see the movie and have just got to see it (and some haven't seen it at all yet), a little wait until the DVD comes out isn't too much to ask.

I'm trying not to watch too much of the dodgy phone footage as it will ruin the film for me when I finally get to see it (but I couldn't help myself with the Japanese footage ).

A camrip of this movie, no matter how focused on the screen it is, is not going to be in the best quality. Because you'll hear people in the threater, the 3D effects, etc etc. So just wait for the DVD or whenever Toonzai airs it :3

Thanks again, Darkinfernal. Compared to the 3 part camrip we had, this one has a better vision, but not so clear sound. But either way, I'm pleased with it. xD

It was worth the trip, totally!

I would do it again, if I had the chance. XD

We also hit up a card game shop on the way home, and there were quite a few other Yugioh fans there as well, and one of the owners saw that I had my eye on Malefic Rainbow Dragon and sold it to me for $3. I didn't complain. Then again, he also just gave me his Ancient Fairy Dragon right out of his own binder, and gave my friend Light and Darkness Dragon. He also sold me Shining Flare Wingman for a buck. It was a good day. -shot-

The only thing that sucked, was that we had to drive to a small town to see it, so the theater itself wasn't too full. Though, it's a college town, so it's safe to say that every single person in that theater was 17/18 and older. I kinda had to laugh at that irony. There were no kids at all. Every one of us sat through credits as well, just to hear the nostalgia that is the dub theme songs. XD

Both. But i'll mostly play White.

The movie was pretty sweet, though of course at this point i pretty much knew how everything would go lol. Not much to add really, the music was decent with few scores that would actually sound great, the script was decent by 4KIDS standards (though i did facepalm more than once...) and well the 3D was cool.
Meanwhile Jou and Kaiba are in an alleyway dying a slow death and Yugi is non the wiser about it...
