I may just import the UK DVD, as it sounds like the best deal, especially since the JP Blu-ray won't have subtitles, so I'd have 3D but not be able to fully understand it.
I guess, but still, this is only conversion cost of about 14 bucks ... for the DVD. I doubt the BluRay can be much more. Do you happen to have a 3D TV? Let me just tell you the 3D in the movie isn't really needed, it was placed there to be the first major 3D anime film (first anime movie to be produced in 3D, instead of converted like the Pokemon specials).

There was only 4 difference between the price of the standard DVD on Amazon and Blu-Ray (about $6.60 according to an online convertor), so if you have the equipment to watch it, you may as well get Blu-ray in my opinion.

Didn't see it, but I doubt BluRay is worth it for anime. The only good parts quality wise in my Summer Wars BR is the CGI parts, which is less than 10% of the movie. I understand said Kuriboh might look cool, but a DVD played in a BR player upscales it to 720p, which is enough.

7 dollars is quite a bit, in America it is usually 5 bucks difference.

Well, I'm only buying the standard DVD. I have Sky HD at home and I fail to see the difference between the HD channels and the standard ones so there's absolutely no point in me spending the difference.

If you must know, the difference is noticed as you get into larger TV sets. On my 55 inch downstairs, it is near impossible to watch SD, but on my 40 in my room, it looks pretty good. But still, the HD looks better on the 55 inch. On the 40 inch, it is better than SD, but not the same effect as on the 55 inch. When I buy a BR, I usually hook up to my 55 inch first.

Well our downstairs TV where the satellite is hooked up to is a 42" (I think) so it's pretty big. I'm just not that interested in HD and providing the picture quality is okay and not massively pixelated, I'm happy.

I'm just pleased I'm going to get to see the film soon (and if the DVD does have the Japanese on it's a bonus ).

Does anybody know where this trailer comes from? The music is completely different, so is the logo, and I don't see 4Kids' name on it anywhere. Is it new, or was it before 4Kids got involved with the movie?

That was the trailer before the preview of WC 2010.
I guess it was sethy cakes from LiveJournal the one that recordered it at that time.

I noticed that too. Who is going to be up at 2am watching it? Such a bizarre time. The Easter Weekend TV offerings over here have been total pants

It's probably for the happy slappy hoodies who are just returning home from beating up some poor sod who got lost on his way to the pub ^_-.

But I agree, really odd time. It's like when Sky one used to show crapsule at 3am.

Best place for that though. And even then, imagine landing in the house after a night out only to plonk yourself on the sofa, kebab in hand, only to be subjected to that nonsensense?

Are they taking bookings for that yet? The Newcastle cinema is still claiming there is nothing showing on the 21st. The swines!

Friend of mine works at the cinema so is reserving tickets for me the moment they become available. Hyde park cinema is an old victorian flee pit style cinema, with all the beauty preserved. I saw Spirited away there one year and it was amaising. Shame this is the dumbed down moronic dub, as seeing the original Japanese in such a place of splender would be like entering Navana for me.

Sounds divine, I like old flea pit style cinemas. I've never been to the Tyneside cinema but I suspect it's similar. I'm impressed with the list of participating cinemas to be honest. I fully expected to have to schlepp to London so I'm well happy with Newcastle. I just feel a bit twitchy about tickets and won't be happy until I know I'm booked in.

Running it in London wouldn't be ecconomic. Factoring cost of transport, higher ticket prices and running costs, to even show the film, never mind attending would be almost double that of say Leeds or Manchester.

They are running them I notice in coralation to University Anime Societies it seems, hence why Leeds is getting it as it's one of the biggest societies in the country.

There is a link to pre-book tickets but, unfortunately for me, Newcastle not on that list yet

Does anyone find it weird that a gladiator beast exists in the DM era? Is it a mistake from the writers or did contact fusion really exist in that era?

Looks like I'll be getting the movie on Blu-ray. Expensive, but at least it's region free on most Blu-ray players.

A very interesting movie, it's a bit better then PoL because of the lack of God Card bull and inclusion of Judai dueling. Though Paradox and his being a paradox from the future... Does give me a head ache, and Yusei isn't my favorite protog... But the duel was pretty cool, just Yusei showed how annoying he was by not doing anything but bring out a **** blocker. Judai's using of Neos Knight gives a E-Hero duelist like myself the first shining star from the Anime since Divine Neos, and much more playable of course. It's too bad though that Yugi's new cards may never see the light of day seeing how uncommon them releasing S/Ts from Movies and OVAs.

The movie had been aired in France directly at TV. It is just awesome! I noticed some little things:

    - Paradox don't talk almost not as a scientist. Not "experiment" here. Nevertheless, he talk of DM as plague, virus and bane.
    - I (unfortunatly) noticed some mistakes in cards rules particularly Reincarnation of Hope.
    - Card Excluder is present in the party. That's means she was already present in DM...?
    - Pegasus seems pretty... exentric. Curious.
    - He isn't seen giving a card to Team Protagonist at the end of the movie
    - It's just before Crashtown: Kiryu appears in Yusei's vision as leader of the Team Satisfaction

Yes, this is 4kids dub. Lines had been modified towards Japanese version but It's a little surprising to hear Paradox say to the characters he will kill them for a 4kids dub. I can't say for the English dub, I didn't saw it. But Paradox's voice is awesome as expected by Divine's voice actor. I hope the DVD will include the subbed orignal version.

I'm pretty sure it's for the Japanese. I guess we'll just have to wait until it's released to know for certain.

That woldn't make any sense for Manga UK to advertise the subs now would it?

The English dub had Paradox say he would kill them too.

Speaking from experience here mate, a lot of UK DVDs, and quite a few US ones have the sub for the dub, not the jap version (or its a bit of a compramise between the two). A prime example was the English Nadesico, Spirited away and Evangelion DVDs.

From what I remember, the way MangaUK worded it made it sound like it would be for the JPN audio. I'll be EXTREMELY pissed if you are right.

Care to make a wager? If I'm right you have to put a com-mu-nist flag as your avatar for one week. If I'm wrong I have to set mine to anything you want.

This is what Manga UK said via Twitter

MangaUK One last #YGO3D tweet! Did u know it is the UK's 1st ever 3D anime release for cinemas and Blu-ray? Also incl. japanese audio and subs.
Certainly sounds like Japanese subs but who knows?

That wounds a bit too extreme for me, sorry.

I really do hope MangaUK doesn't have to cancel this either.

Why would they have to cancel it? Are you thinking about because of what is happening to 4Kids?

Nice that the french version came out publicly. It actually doesn't sound too bad, even if I have no clue what they're saying.

... Now if only they stopped screwing around and freaking released the Movie in Canada so I can actually see it in English!!!

Canada got kinda screwed over. :/ USA got a theater release, UK gets that + dual-language DVD/BD...Canada gets squat. I'd import the DVD come July, if anything.

Yeah, it REALLY sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing it.

I think I'm probably going to import it. Are UK stores (Whatever they may be) accepting online pre-orders yet?
