You're probably right. For most cards, it's not that much of an issue. But it's a little grating when you can hear them saying a card name in Engrish. Roadrunner being subbed as Sonic Chick gets a bit ridiculous when you clearly hear Yusei say "rodoranna".

I understand why they do it. I hope the actual translated names are put somewhere, like in a special features section or something.

The reason they do it is because Konami likes to pretend that YGO doesn't exist in Asia. @__@

Maybe they'll do what the uncut DM DVDs did, which was have two separate subtitle tracks; one using dub names and one using original names.

If we are using that video posted a little while ago, Kyte said that was the same video that played at ComicCon last year. I doubt the cards will be unedited for the dub track. If they are, the whole thing should be uncut (as in uncut audio, use of the word kill which the dub glazed over once).

No, it was said to have been because the YGO Syndicate demanded English names. Why? Probably brand recognition reasons so the customers don't get "Confused".

How can they have an edited dub and an uncut Japanese version on the same disk? Is that possible?

Well, if I remember from DBZ movie DVDs, uncut anyway, they did have the edited version (and by edit I mean the title sequence and ending sequence) whilst the Japanese audio plays.

So since apparently the movie was only edited on its title and credit sequences, and the cards and most likely putting English txt, the movie should still play fine with the Japanese audio since nothing else got cut or extended lip flaps and the such from what we know.

EDIT: That, or you can't switch the audio while watching the movie. Would have to be either select dub or original.

Was nothing really cut? It looked like a bit of the Pegasus scene was cut. Meaning some of the shots of the building falling were cut as opposed to the scenes shown in the special 5D's endings. Of course, it's an amazing feat that they even showed him being crushed by a building at all, even if shortened.

I take it a japanese DVD should be purchased just to make sure we get the best possible outcome. If the 4kids edit is used with the jap dub, its still a poor substitute for the original.

Im holding out the Jap DVD will have some extras

Actually, the US does have an official release date (somewhere in July) and a trailer (same one as always) saying Next Fall (weird since July isn't in the fall).

Yeah, that's kind of my point. The "official" release date is from websites that claim that is the date, but to my knowledge, there's nothing from 4Kids stating that, and the official website doesn't have the date.

Do you think that is because of what is going on with 4Kids at the moment? I remember in that statement about the lawsuit that it stated 4Kids UK isn't affected which could be why we are getting actual release dates and are able to pre-order.

Just found out we don't get free 5DS Manga sampler in UK, just "Ultra Rare Card". Manga UK are going to try and arrange manga to come free with DVD they said just now.

So this is supposed to mean that UK version will have the original Japanese voices with subs ?

About the trailer, I think we should notice that the same trailer has been shown with "4KIDS" cards and original cards, but both version were shown at different times if I'm not wrong : the first version was about the US release of the film in theaters, and the second one is supposed to be about the UK(/European maybe ? ><) version.

Well if its 60 mins, it sounds like it. Plus the site says all versions of the film (so I presume that means audio alternatives) have been rated.

The 60 minutes means that they will include the first 10 minutes of review footage of the three series.

I don't think anything noticeable when watching was cut. As YYugi suggested, they are most likely including the 10 extra minutes of review footage as well. If not, who knows.

Pretty much the extra 10 will be the recap. Totally not complaining though, can't wait for this to be released, and uncut :O Now that's science!

If it's that recap special with Rua and Ruka, I will be very excited. I know it's a recap, but somehow the thought of the two commenting on the previous series and showing scenes from the best moments makes me giddy as a fan.

You have to remember this is the english version...

But if its that, then it will be awesome since we never knew what animation do they used for the twins and Aki, and them presenting the previous and own series will be interesting

It's both English and the original, as previously established.

To be honest, it'll be interesting to see it done both dubbed and subbed, considering the edits that were done in all the series.

I should have specified that it was the english release version *Does that sound good?*

I don't think that version will have some Japanese footage that not even the Japanese DVD will contain.

No, this was aired in Japan as well. It's not something that was made just for an English release. It was shown to a small amount of people during a convention, I believe.

No. Im talking about the extra footage (or extra minutes) that the English DVD will contain. I doubt that it will be the recap with Aki and Twins since this just aired in Japan (at WC 2009 I guess).

    Oh, I see.

What would be really cool is if we got that recap special as an extra and the movie actually had 10 minutes of extra footage.

I watched the movie again and noticed that Jaden got his old(season one)personality back. I guess his duel with Yugi really affected him a lot.

I hope too. The French version has 49 minutes including 10 minutes recap.

I may just import the UK DVD, as it sounds like the best deal, especially since the JP Blu-ray won't have subtitles, so I'd have 3D but not be able to fully understand it.
I am not in the least bit worried about subs. Everthing else I have from the series is in raw japanese, so why start getting subbed releases now?

Because the majority of us do not speak Japanese so it will be nice to have a release with official subs (and to give people like GoldenUmi a break).

On another note, Manga UK have said on Twitter that the UK cinemas that are participating in over 16 screenings (not sure who that is though), will have extra cards to give away (but they don't say which ones they are).

Amen. They really do need a break. Not that I really care; six moths of only having Spanish subs means I can pretty much just guess the meaning of the sentences.

Sadly, I'm guessing it'll be Sin Red-Eyes. (Personally, I was hoping for the Protagonists' final three traps, but oh well.) However, Sin Stardust will likely be reprinted due to its popularity.

The boxart is pretty, but I don't understand why Dark Magician, Neos, and Stardust are flying to the left. They could've just stood in the background.

Decided to order a copy, then saw the release date on amazon

    25 July 2011

Seems it's been put back a fair bit.
